CityMD – E14th Street

Quick, professional and knowledgable staff. Could not be happier.
Had a minor medical issue and recently learned my GP had left her practice so I had nowhere to go. Went to City MD first thing in the morning. Was taken immediately and was in and out in 20 min. Saw a nurse and Doctor — both great. Felt well informed by front desk staff about what I should expect in terms of payment. Thanks City MD!

Warning: You MUST get prices from the front desk and from the doctor for EVERYTHING you do, before you do it. I got a surprise bill for a shockingly large amount of money. The front desk staff lied about the cost and the doctor didn’t know and refused to find out how much a particular treatment would cost. You need to get every single cost from CityMD, in writing, before they do anything.
Be very, very careful before you go to this, or any, CityMD. One sees why urgent cares are proliferating: Not many people have gotten burned by them yet.
Buyer beware.

After a really awful experience with a specialist (i walked out after a 2+hour wait), this was a refreshing change! I walked in, they took my information and I was seen within 20 minutes. They were pleasant, professional, and kind! Such a nice change.

I haven’t had good experience with urgent care clinics before so I was nervous about going to this one after realizing I had pink eye.
I was so surprised when I walked in for how clean and nice looking it was. The woman at the front desk was extremely accommodating and thoroughly informed me of what I needed to do since it was my first time there. The only thing that didn’t strike a cord was that I said I think I have pink eye, which is highly contagious, and she let me touch all of their pens and clipboards, as well as sit on their couches. I hope they sanitized!
The waiting area was super comfortable and relaxing which is especially nice because usually when people are in there it’s not for a good reason. After filling out my paper work, I was called into a room within 10 minutes, and I was shocked. I usually have to wait forever!
All of the staff was extremely warm and friendly and the doctor seemed knowledgeable. He immediately gave me a prescription and again I was out of there within 15 minutes. They were also very concerned with what they prescribed me based on my insurance which was nice of them.
I’m glad I had a good experience for a not so good reason, but it’s good to know this place is reliable!

First disclaimer I am an RN. I went to City MD because primary care physician unavailable and I was sure i had an infection in my hand. Staff pleasant, place is clean but if this is where we are headed in healthcare– God help us. My Vital signs were taken by a pleasant man with tag RADIOLOGY. Assume he was a tech. then he told me a SCRIBE would be in to ask more questions. This young woman did not introduce herself and her tag said MEDICAL TEAM, she sat cross legged on chair (gee how professional) and was a wiz at typing but clearly had no healthcare knowledge. I was told that the doctor would be in to see me shortly. In a few minutes, a male comes in with white coat and tells me he is PA (Physicians Assistant). Puts on gloves — looks at my finger and hand, asks if I can move my fingers and states, a few other questions and states probably infected and will put me on antibiotic. as he is looking at my hand I feel water dripping– this gut is sweating so profusely it is dripping off his face. Disgusting. Then no mention of the incident, not even an apology for the most unhygienic display imaginable.
Says my finger is cool to touch– Really? I had three other nurses look at this before I came to City MD; my finger was swollen, red and hot to touch– that is the reason i sought out medical attention.
Ordered antibiotics. went back to work — sought out a internist who consults– also checked out my finger and hand and remarked at redness, swelling and temperature. also changed the type of antibiotic ordered.
1. Don’t tell me a doctor is going to see me then send in a PA and think i am too ignorant to know the difference.
2. Please hire staff with some healthcare experience
3. Short wait time and pleasant front desk staff great but what I need is medical attention
4. Hire some nurses, maybe LPN, RNs and NPs

I have been here at least four times since June and I couldn’t be happier with the service. I’ve never had to wait longer than 10 minutes and I found them to be very thorough. It’s much easier to go here then to my primary care physician when I want immediate service. The staff is very friendly, although some doctors are a little bit more outgoing than others. The last two doctors I had here were really nice and I felt like they took extra time with my concerns. Definitely my new go to place when I’m under the weather!

These guys were wonderful — Went in twice in 2 days and saw different doctors and nurses and all were so nice and really talked through my options when I was super confused! Front desk were super helpful and friendly too and in my experience, this is very hard to find! They all seem like they are actually happy to be there!

My wife saw Dr Ira Owen. He was utterly lacking in compassion. At one point he refused to answer my wife’s questions. This may have been a crude joke on his part, however she was in pain at the time and not exactly in the mood for jokes. Dr Owen made the patient feel like a nuisance and seemed disinterested.
A major aspect of healing is kindness, the ability to listen and empathize with the patient. According to that standard, Dr Owen is in the wrong field.
Avoid him.

Came here after I was diagnosed with strep because I still wasn’t feeling better and the doctor explained everything to me so simply about my recovery and helped me with my new symptoms. Office was so clean and everyone was exceptionally nice.

Facility is new, modern and clean. The staff is wonderful. Their lab services, however, stink. Their website states «rapid lab test processing and results… We provide lab tests and processing on-​site, so you can get the results faster.»
Five days is not really rapid, is it? As I stated, I liked their facilities and staff, but will not go back if my treatment is contingent on lab results. Five days is too long to wait when you don’t feel well.

Super friendly staff. Tesh and Dr. Reddy were both very professional and quickly took care of me. This place is legitimately 10 times better than NYU student health center and I would recommend all NYU students to come here instead.

I took my children to CityMD today (Saturday) because I suspected my daughter had pink eye (my children are ages 3 years and 4 years). The reception staff were very nice, but it took a long time to be seen (over an hour in total, which is tricky with 2 young children, and they did not appear busy — there was only one other person in the waiting room, and one person went in before me). When we saw the doctor, she was okay, but a little distracted (and her bedside manner was lacking). She confirmed my suspicion of pink eye and wrote a prescription. I left and attempted to fill the prescription. I went to 3 different pharmacies, and none of them could fill the prescription until Monday (these were major pharmacies). The final one told me that the prescribed medicine was not commonly prescribed and that most places would need to order it. Given the swollen appearance of my 3 year old’s eye, waiting until Monday (today is Saturday) was not at option. The pharmacist suggested I call CityMD to get a substitute prescription. I did so. At first the receptionist told me the doctor was busy and that I should call back. After expressing my concern with my experience with them, she eventually put the nurse on the phone, who prescribed something else. It was a frustrating experience that, in all, took 2 ½ hours to complete.

I couldn’t have been happier with my most recent visit to City MD on Monday March 23^rd. The staff greeted me and told me it would be about a 20 minute wait. The 20 minute wait turned out to be only a 5 minute wait and I was brought back to see the doctor. I was so relieved because I was feeling very ill. The doctor’s assistant then came to take my body temperature and blood pressure and assured me that the doctor would be in very shortly.
Dr. Sarah Lacarrubba then came in to evaluate my symptoms and I was very impressed with her thorough examination. I was showing signs of pneumonia so she ordered an X-​ray of my lungs and a flu test. The X-​ray technician was wonderful and tried to make me as comfortable as possible during the X-​rays. Luckily, it turns out I was just battling a terrible bout of the flu. Dr. Lacarrubba was extremely attentive and genuinely concerned for my well being. She issued several remedies for my illness and offered me the least expensive medications, along with coupons to use towards those medications. What a great doc! I started the meds immediately following the visit and I was on the road to recovery! It was such a relief to be 100% better by the end of the week.
I have been going to City MD for several years now and this was by far the best experience I’ve had. City MD on East 14^th will be my location of choice for the future. Thank you Dr. Lacarrubba and City MD for taking such great care of me.

Even though every time I go to CityMD I feel shitty I always leave happy with my experience. They do a really good job of getting you in and out and have always helped me with whatever ailment I have.

CityMD is negligent in its treatment of patients. On Jan 2^nd I could not get in with my regular Dr., who I spoke to on the phone, and who advised me to get checked out at an urgent care facility that day. I did exactly that. I waited over an hour and a half to see the Dr. (the only one on staff) who did an incompetent exam and sent me on my way. I followed up with the after care department to get the results of my lab tests and they had no record of any cultures being sent out to the lab. The Regional Manager of CityMD returned my call and said they never sent the cultures to the lab for testing at all, and lost them. She said they wrote up the Dr. and the nurse for the incident but that was all they could do. The entire reason my Dr. referred me to Urgent Care was to get the tests done that day and now, after a week of waiting for the results (that I will never get), my health has been significantly compromised.
Do not visit this facility.

If I could give half a star, I would. The staff is pleasant, the medical facility is clean. The MD that «examined» me, barely listened to my lungs, and didn’t even check my raw throat, even though I told her that the hospital I work at, sent me home 30 min earlier for fever, sweats, hacking cough and muscle aches. This MD’s answer was a quick script for a z-​pack and she shuffled me on my way. to the worst weekend of my life. and a stat appointment with an Internist that actually looked in my throat, checked my lungs, ordered labs and a chest x-​ray. Never again, CityMD. And we wonder why so many people in this country treat the ED like primary care. if they’re seeing you for help CityMD, the question has been alarmingly answered.

Not that happy. Fast service, but when I went to get prescription filled, I noticed the order was much smaller than expected. Would have appreciated the doctor speaking more with me about what she was prescribing. I am understanding that the doctor has a throat problem, but other means of communication need to be used. It doesn’t mean you limit communication to your patient.

Had a great experience here.
The ladies at the front desk were super friendly and efficient. Dr. Henderson and her Assistant (who’s name escapes me at the moment — I hate forgetting nice folks’ names) were friendly and knowledgeable.
The staff as a whole moved quickly. I waited for less than 2 minutes to be seen — I think it was literally only long enough for them to generate a record of me in the system.
This place just opened a few weeks ago so everything is brand new and spotless! I hope it stays this way.
One of the restrooms was out of order and being serviced, so I went to use the other restroom and the person ahead of me… well, they REALLY clogged the toilet –_​– Luckily the staff moved quickly to correct the issue and were super apologetic about it.
I’ve gone to another CityMD location before and it too was pretty good, but this one takes the cake.
I’ll definitely be back to this location for my urgent care needs.
