Mark and Eddie have been cutting my hair for 6 years since I graduated college and moved into NYC in 2010. Always been a reliable monthly haircut for me and even though I moved to a different neighborhood a long time ago I still travel over to 37th and 2nd for them.
I tend to go after work so may have to wait a person or two but their 7 pm weekday close time is a «soft close» since they don’t want to disappoint their loyal customers.
Overall: A reliable haircut for under $ 20 (but make sure to tip them if your happy with their work!)

Been going here for 3 Years now. You go in you get a nice Fresh Cut, a nice neck shave, some good conversation, and you’re out in less than 20. The way it should be! Love these guys. Will keep coming back for many years to come!

I’ve been coming here for years. Mark and Eddie are both great barbers and great guys in general. I used to live nearby but travel 20 – 30 minutes to get here. Worth the trip.

Looking to find a new barber around the neighborhood and this wasn’t it. They took 8 – 10 minutes for a haircut and needed to go to another barber to have it fixed. Very disappointed

My husband was highly recommended to City Barber Shop by many of our friends! We went first time to see Mark, and we were very pleased with his amazing service and job! I have been going to City Barber Shop for the past 8 months. This is a great place if you want a cheap haircut ($ 17 for men). I usually come in on Saturday mornings, which is usually a barbers peak time, and wait no more than 15 20 minutes.
I have gotten haircuts from Mark and Pheobe and cannot really complain here. If needed, Mark can do all scissor haircuts which is a nice alternative to buzzers at usual barber shops.
There is no reason to go to a fancy overpriced barber shop in NYC.

The guys were very friendly but I dont think they really understood how I wanted my hair despite showing them a photo.
They took alot longer than I thought they should have but all in all good value for money.

City barbershop truly enables that neighborhood feel as soon as you walk in the door. Mark, Eddie, and Phoebe each know their customers style and carry through with such professionalism in their talented service. I’ve been going to city barbershop for close to 4 years and I can only say I walk out every time completely satisfied. This is not a high end treatment but rather a true barbershop feel for an affordable price in comparison to the rest in the city.

Mark and Eddie are awesome! Always a friendly environment and always a great haircut. They are efficient and know what they’re doing, even when you have to wait for others you are never there too long. And you’re not spending an arm and a leg like you will elsewhere in Manhattan.

Come early — 8 am start on Saturday! Place usually has a steady stream of regulars, but I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes even at peak hours.

Great barbers. I have gotten a haircut from all three barbers and they are all good. Phoebe has now become my regular barber and does a great job each time. $ 17 haircut is a pretty decent deal in this neighborhood.

Great place. I am very picky about my hair and found places not do a great job when I paid $ 50+. A great bargain and Mark does an amazing job. Takes his time and most importantly, he actually listens compared to other barbers who just say yes and cut it too short. Both very nice guys and enjoy time being there. I have recommended few others and they liked it just as much as I did

Good price haircut with rotating barbers. Nice to have a good old fashion straight razor trim up. I’m not in need of anything fancy so this place is perfect for me. Traditional barber shop dialogue and makes you feel comfortable.
I like my haircuts short so I don’t have to go back too soon. The barber picked up on that and made extra trim. It did look a little kiddish, but once it grew out it was perfect. I have had bad reactions to straight razors in the past, but no reaction this time. I have very sensitive skin and this has always been a problem. I was happy to feel that there was no uncomfortable reactions from the trim!
