Great movie theatre. The best in the area with amazing seats. Problem is they play too many garbage indie movies instead of the commercial good ones we want to see and pay for.

Lots of legroom, fully reclinable leather seats, nice atmosphere, just amazing. I saw the last Mission Impossible here and loved it!

Expensive ($ 18) during regular hours but great deals ($ 9) on matinees and after 9 pm on Mon-​Thur. Assigned, reclining seats though not the best, the AMC ones are much better. However this theater has a much better movie selection. The smaller theaters are very small with small screens but the big theater is great. The balcony seats are better in this room. Great concessions stand with baked goods, and everything is 50% off after 9 pm Mon-​Thur.

This theater did need a major renovation. I’m glad they have the comfy seats. I’ve viewed a movie in one of the luxury seats. The movie was at a different location and not a City Cinema. I actually paid regular prices at that time. Now that all the theaters are offering the luxury seats they jacked up the price.
My issue is the price at this particular City Cinema. I might be mistaken but I feel it has always been higher than the others. I’ll just have to be slightly uncomfortable to be more affordable. Even the matinée is $ 9.00. With all of the movies on TV and streaming I can’t justify that price for a couple hours. I can be comfortable in my apartment. Call me cheap but I would not want to see a date pay that much!

This theater is fantastic!!! My mother and I came in to see an early showing of «By the Sea» and the manager greeted us so pleasantly by the door as he opened up the theater. We came in and everyone was so kind. The theater is spotless and they even have those recliner seats! I should come here more often :-)

I love this movie theatre! I went for the first time this weekend to see the movie Brooklyn (currently only in select theaters) and I was NOT expecting to watch the movie in reclining lounge seats — such an awesome surprise. There are only 3 movies showing at this place at a time so you’d probably only come here if you wanted to see 1 of the 3. I would absolutely return. You can reserve your seats online ahead of time to ensure you get the best seats in the house. I actually went to the first movie of the day on Saturday (11AM) and there were tons of free seats available, but I’m not sure how crowded this place gets. Also, our tickets were only $ 9, which is unheard of these days (again, probably because it was the 11AM movie). Nonetheless, buy your tickets in advance and you’ll be comfortable throughout the entire movie!

Best theater in New York City. The people who work here are all incredibly nice, the big lazy boy seats make you feel like you are watching a film in the comfort of your own home, and the popcorn is as good as it gets. I honestly won’t go see a movie anywhere else. If a film isn’t playing at Cinema 123, I just won’t see it…

COCKROACH crawled into my shirt while watching Black Mass. This is disgusting and not acceptable. They wouldn’t even give me my money back instead gave me a free movie ticket too bad I will NEVER come back here!

The most comfortable theater I’ve been to in a long time… there has obviously been recent renovations made. The seats recline and the rows are very spacious. Ticket prices are on the higher end ($ 17) but with that you get less ppl and less distractions i think it’s well worth it. Free soda refills too!

Reserved seats here to see MI V. Amazing seats. They recline fully and is almost as wide as my college dorm bed and oh you can reserve specific seats ahead of time.

Surprise surprise! I was thinking that the ticket prices were a bit steep. $ 17 for a non-​3D movie? Well once I got inside, I knew why. The seats are leather, wide, and reclinable. Plenty of room with a large screen. This is akin to the iPic in LA, but without the food service. If you want a non-​cramped movie experience (i.e. date), this is the place to do it. Really enjoyed it!

Theater is a bit pricey, but if you can make a matinée it’s totally worth it. Reclining seats, good views of the screen, and nicely cooled on a hot summer day.

I’ve lived relatively close to this theater for almost two years, but only stepped in just a few days ago during a heatstroke-​inducing day when I felt like watching a matinée, wanted to be in an AC-​blasting location, and didn’t want to travel too far to get to said AC-​blasting location. Plus, I heard that they had renovations done and had changed their seats to the bigger, reclining variety, so I was pretty excited.
It ended up being an a-​ok experience.

The seats were indeed big and cushy, but the stadium seating was so minor that the tall man in front of me kind of obscured my view. That said, seats were reservation-​only either online or at the front ticketing office beforehand. I love reservations for movies and shows! I hate when I have to walk around a theater to ask people if seats near them are open, only to be given glares and a point to a bag or coat «stretched out» to indicate that the five seats near them are «taken».
The screen was very small and the lights along the aisle floor (similar to the light indicators along the aisles of airplanes) were bright and distracting for those sitting near the aisle.
As for the food, I almost never get movie theater food (overpriced popcorn and chicken tenders? no thanks), but it seemed like the concession stand area was well-​kept and popular.
Likelihood of another visit:
They only have three theaters inside this building, so they only ever play two or three movies at a time, but I’ve found that the movie selection is quite good. I wouldn’t mind coming back again!

I do not like the reserved seating policy. When you buy a reserved seat and then don’t like it when you are actually in the theater, you can’t sit somewhere else. Sometimes you sit next to someone who talks so you move a few rows back or front or want to sit in the balcony after you already bought a mezzanine seat etc. And you just can’t just get up and move because someone might have already bought the seats you still see are empty. Get rid of the reserved seating. You say it is so that you can go into the theater right away and not wait on a line but you can do that without reserved seating. Just let the seats be first come, first serve and let the people in the theater after it is cleaned.

Seats are comfortable but there are still problems.
1. Theaters are very small as is screen, so don’t expect a big screen experience.
2. People will sit in your reserved seats because no on can see the letters of the row! It’s printed on the floor of the aisle and is tiny with low contrast (unlike the number of the seat which is ok on the side of the aisle seat).
3. Prepare the hear the booms, noise and extreme vibrations of the movie in the next theater. Ugh.
4. The incline of the rows is not steep enough by a few degrees. A slightly bigger than averaged sized person’s head will block your view.
5. The price of a ticket would be ok IF these problems were addressed.

It is only a matter of time before this movie theater goes out of business.
If you are going to charge $ 17 dollars, then don’t hire lobotomized employees. You will encounter better customer service at the DMV than you can find here. I note with much concern the unsanitary appearing long fake fingernails of the gal dishing out the popcorn. Who needs butter when E. coli sprinkles come free?
The theaters here are small and with abysmal climate control. I suppose the reclining seats are supposed to be the draw for paying $ 2 more then your standard, already rip-​off NYC movie theater prices. However, they seem to made of that same microbial-​sponge material as airline seats. The recliner button on my seat was defective and throughout the movie it randomly collapsed and reclined of its own accord.
Don’t fall for this racquet, please! Netflix that Sh$#%!

If you don’t mind spending $ 17 for a complete hassle, seating situation and an ICE COLD theater, then check this place out. The new «assigned» seating is a complete joke.
–long waits in line as the ticket seller explains the assigned seating to every person
–dim lighting making it impossible to find your seat
–listening to so many people ranting about how screwed up the place is
–one usher to assist 200 people trying to find their «assigned» seat
–multiple interruptions during movie with ushers trying to seat late comers.
–sitting in a theater with the A/​C set at 50 deg when it’s 32 out– THE ENTIRE MOVIE!
–no signage as to what theater your movie is in
–EXPENSIVE concessions… nothing new.
–management not offering at least a discount ticket for the very bad experience. I did hear however on 2 occasions by ushers…“If you’re uncomfortable you can leave and get your $ back at the ticket window“
Oh, one more thing. The new seats are very comfortable. Not so comfortable though that I’d return.

I used to come here all the time. It wasn’t the nicest theater but it was close to work and didn’t necessarily show the blockbuster movies. I also go see a lot of movies and have signed up for moviepass. When I got to the theater last night, they charged me a surcharge of $ 2.50 because they raised their prices to $ 17! Seventeen Dollars?
Sure the seats were nicer: they recline. (big whoop… only made me want to go to sleep.) And there’s assigned seating… does anyone really care about that? It’s not like that theatre is ever sold out.
Now Moviepass says it will no longer cover the astronomical price hike. And I completely agree with them. So it looks like I won’t be going there anymore.
Side note, their food selection is terrible.

Do not go here, unless you’re able to use a movie voucher. $ 17 for a movie — I think NOT! Poor customer service too, horrible theater, crappy seats.
We tried to use movie vouchers I receive from work to see a movie that came out 2 weeks ago, but they would not allow us to use it since the movie «opened in our location last week”-a point that was poorly communicated to us after a 10-​minute discussion with the manager. The worst part of it is that we called earlier in the day to ensure our voucher would work for this movie and they told us YES. So you can understand our disappointment upon being told we could not use them once we got there.
I will not be coming back. So many better theaters in NYC that deserve my money.

This is a prototypical Upper East Side Theater:
— terrible seats
— dirty seats
— crappy, small screens
— overpriced tickets for the experience you get
— crotchety old deaf ladies that snap their teeth at the slightest sound anyone makes
In addition to the delightful old ladies, you also get the pleasure of the crowd of tourists and people that shop at Bloomingdale’s across the street. Enjoy.
Or go anywhere else downtown for a better experience.
