Ciao Andiamo

This is my first Unilocal review ever. My husband and I just returned from Italy and had such an amazing time, we wanted to share about this company. We each had been wanting to visit Italy for years, and hoped to experience it much more than by popping into tourist sites. Ciao Andiamo arranged it so that we were able to comfortably and efficiently visit the must-​see places for a first-​timer, while gaining a great deal of historical and cultural knowledge in the process. This allowed us ample opportunity to engage in other unique, enriching experiences, both planned and unplanned.
In terms of the planning process, we greatly appreciated Jonathan’s clear communication and responsiveness. He was also able to find us a dream farmhouse stay, having to consider our rather specific criteria along with budget restraints, during an especially high-​demand season for that region. We thank Jonathan and his team for helping us plan a trip that has truly enriched our lives.

Just returned from an amazing 10 day trip to Italy for our 40^th birthdays! Jon and Ciao Andiamo did an amazing job putting together a trip of a lifetime! We specifically wanted to take a trip off the beaten path and Ciao Andiamo delivered in every way from arranging a villa to setting up a truffle hunt and private vineyard tours with home cooked meals.
Max and his wife Cristiana, Ciao Andiamo’s co-​owners in Italy, were absolutely fantastic! They bent over backwards to ensure that we had an amazing, authentic experience! From the start of the trip we could tell that Max was a rare find and we can’t wait to set up another trip with him.

My husband & I had the MOST amazing honeymoon we could have ever imagined thanks to Ciao Andiamo. All of Jonathon’s local knowledge and contacts truly set the stage for us to delve into the culture and experience Italy exactly the way we had hoped. With all of the craziness of planning the wedding, it was so nice having Jonathon and his team plan the honeymoon of our dreams based on what we told them we were looking for. We also appreciated all his travel tips– i.e. getting our ticket validated before boarding the train, advice on tipping, etc.
We traveled to Venice, Florence, Positano/​Amalfi Coast and Rome. The entire trip was expertly and flawlessly planned– from all of our transfers/​drivers to and from each place to the hotels being beautiful/​clean and places we would stay in again. Each of the local experiences were so unique and amazing– things we could not have/​nor would have known if not had been for Ciao Andiamo. In every place we stayed, we had private tours with local, knowledgable tour guides who tailored the days to our specific interests and gave us the local’s perspective to a day-​in-​the life along with the best food recommendations and shared all of the hidden gems. I honestly don’t know how we could have seen it all or gotten around in such a timely manner had it not been so well thought out and planned. One of our most memorable experiences was when we were on our private countryside village tour in Tuscany that ended In Montalcino at a local, family-​owned winery. Not only were we able to get a private tour of the vineyard, but the family who owns the vineyard made us feel as though we were longtime friends there for a visit– the food was amazing and the brunello wine was delicious! Not to mention, I would not call it a «tasting» that we had but more of a feast with our new friends with endless amounts of amazing wine. Our two weeks were so amazing, they were surreal and I could go on and on about how amazing the trip they planned for us was.
All-​in-​all, we had the trip of a lifetime & I will forever cherish these memories that we were able to make on our honeymoon!

I decided to take a spur-​of-​the-​moment solo trip to Italy and found Jonathan quite by accident. I was immediately impressed by the fact that he asked me the right kinds of questions upfront — what my interests are, what kind of pace I wanted to keep, what kinds of accomodations I wanted — and then, in just over a week, arranged an extraordinary trip to Sorrento & the Amalfi coast that was built just for me. I definitely didn’t want to be part of a tour group, or to spend all my time doing «touristy» stuff at the expense of experiencing real Italian culture. Jonathan’s itinerary was perfect, his contacts were wonderful (shout out to Carmine!), his service and accessibility were outstanding, and the trip was something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I have pretty discriminating tastes, and my expectations were exceeded many times over. I really can’t say enough great things about Jonathan — I would recommend him without qualification.

As seasoned world travelers, my friend & I were looking for a more local/​insider experience, not a typical checklist tour experience, and that is exactly what we got. We enjoyed incredible food & wine, must-​have local delights, a vino & formaggio picnic in the Tuscan countryside, and top-​notch restaurants off the beaten path. We took a cooking class at a private villa and stayed at classic hotels with ambiance and character. If you’re looking to book an authentic and memorable Italy vacation, I highly recommend you check out Ciao Andiamo. You won’t regret it.
