This place was great for lunch. Now, as the Fried Chicken sandwich seems to have gained popularity, they seem to be using different meat. Before, you got a nice piece of white-​ish meat (assumed to be chicken breast?).
Now, it’s horribly disgusting-​looking meat under that flour crust. I used to love that sandwich; now I can’t even eat it after getting a piece of chicken so nasty looking (looked like the chicken scraps that they grind into a paste for McNuggets) that I decided to just throw half of the sandwich out rather than sit there chewing on something I don’t feel comfortable chewing on.
I wish they’d use good chicken, especially in their best-​selling sandwich. Sadly, I won’t be going back. And that sucks. The chicken sandwich used to be so good.

I wanted to get this review out in case I forgot how much I loved their Fried Chicken Sandwich (although I really don’t think I’ll have ANY issues fantasizing about this sandwich till my next lunch visit). At FIRST glance, I thought the sandwich would be too small for the price, but I was totally wrong! I got the $ 13 chuoxbox which included sandwich+side+dessert. I was geniunely full after eating the sandwich and only a handful of the truffle fries. I had to bring the dessert back to the office with me. What you get for the price is an absolutely perfectly handcrafted delight. The fried chicken was dusted with panko crumbs (i think, sorry if i am wrong) which made it so crispy yet light. The meat was Juicius Maximus (name of my unborn son), soooo moist. The bread they have is true French bakery quality. And as I type (ok, I’m pausing) I shall try the hazelnut chuox… verdict…Re-dic-ulous. They earned the 5 stars before I even got to dessert, but now this experience is just getting silly. While there, what I believe to be the owner?, a lovely French gal came by to check on everyone and make sure they were happy with their meals. Bonus ghost star for that! Definitely need to add them to my work lunch rotation. If you are in the area I’d recommend doing the same.

Are you serious? Not only was I not impressed with the bread, I got halfway through my beet salad to find a long gnarly hair.

Stumbled upon this cute spot after my friend posted some delectable looking pictures. It’s certainly an affordable and delicious addition to the neighborhood!
The fried chicken sandwich is their best-​seller for good reason! The chicken was succulent, crunchy, and perfectly accentuated by a great spicy mayonnaise on a substantial ciabatta with the perfect amount of crackle and give. The truffle fries were lacking the «oomph» I expect from truffle salt, but the frites were impeccably made and near addictive in their salt and crunch.
My only gripe was my pistachio cream puff: while they look lovely topped with adorable fondant coins and the cream filling was very «pistachio-​potent,» they seemed to use the same pastry as the «choux bread» for their savory tartines, which made for a tough cream puff that defied my expectations of a light one-​bite dessert, especially considering the lack of pistachio cream.
All in all, however, warm service, delectable food, and a great price definitely makes ChouxBox worth a look!

Great addition to the neighborhood for lunch. The staff is very friendly and it’s just a pleasant place to be.
The ChouxBox lunch special is SO good– comes with a sandwich + a side. My favorite is the Fried Chicken Sandwich– the ingredients taste fresh and the bread is really good. The portions for sides are huge too so it really fills you up too. The truffle fries don’t really taste like truffle fries, but they’re still amazing. I’ve also had the carrot salad, which has the best seasoning!

ChouxBox opened a few months ago at the location previously occupied by Sur Empanada Factory and Bakery. I was so dismayed by the closure of Sur that for a couple of months, I obstinately walked past ChouxBox, refusing to set foot inside this usurper of a bakery.
Eventually, however, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to check out the lunch sandwiches, and then the breakfast sandwiches, and then the eclairs, and then the cream puffs, and the rest, as they (who?) say, is history.
From reading all the reviews, I was expecting the sandwiches to be very small, but I found the duck and brie sandwich, the fried chicken sandwich, and the egg and cheese sandwich to be an adequate size, such that I could still have an éclair to consummate my lunch without feeling grossly full of bread (let’s see who gets the reference!).
While the sandwiches are tasty and the service is congenial, what really keeps drawing me back is the Paris-​Brest éclair. This praline cream filled treat after lunch makes it a little bit easier for me to get back to work and get through the rest of the workday. The apple caramel éclair is also very good.
Well, they (whoever) are wrong; the rest is not history quite yet. ChouxBox will continue to see plenty of me for a long time to come.

Actually I was not trying the main signature at Chouxbox — macaron and éclair, but I still like a lot what they offered for sandwich! I tried the roasted turkey one with onion, pickle and mayo out of six selections. The best part about the sandwich here was the bread — unlike other places where bread was too hard to bite! My colleague was complaining on the size though, I’m good with it.
I would for sure opt for the éclair next time visiting and let it wow me one more time.

I can’t get enough. The sandwiches are just excellent at chouxbox. You’d think it would be extremely hard to reinvent the sandwich however those guys have kinda done it. Their bread deserves its own review — it’s like the love child of baguette and pita bread. The ingredients, the layering and size of the thing make every bite the perfect one.
They do sweets. Man, those are crazy good sweets!!! Won’t elaborate, you’ll be happily surprised here.

I love their sandwiches on their ChouxBread, even though they are lighter than the Fried Chicken for example, but still enough for a week lunch. The boxes are a pretty good deal with a side and a cream puff.

Had the chickpea hummus sandwich, hazelnut cream puff and truffle fries.
I liked that the bread on the sandwich was crunchy on the outside yet soft. The truffle fries with the sauce was really good and the cream puff was AMAZING.
I paid 14.50 for the box which is a little pricey for me but the food was really good!
I’ll definitely be back for the cream puffs.

Fries were cold, which was expected. Spicy dipping sauce that came with the fries was good… wish there was more. –1
We ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was just ok… wish there was more chicken — the bread was three times as thick as the chicken. All we got was a thin little slice of chicken. –1

This place is such a little gem. Their food is as good as it looks. If you want to stop in, you can enjoy the cute little tic tac toe games they have at the tables or you can easily takeout but they have cute, colorful to-​go packaging (choux boxes) that keeps your food intact. And service is really fast & good, too.
Onto the food.
I had a roasted turkey choux sandwich «box» which came with a side of carrot salad and their signature dessert choux which is basically a cream puff with marizpan. Mine had some kind of raspberry filling which was great since I like tart flavors. Apparently no one else is doing Choux so if you’re a diehard French pastry fan, this is your place.
The roasted turkey sandwich was also really good (and normally I don’t like turkey). It was on signature choux bread, which was actually very light… it didn’t make me feel food coma-​y after which was surprisingly and good.
Highly recommend. I might come back to try one of the eclairs which are creative and filled with all kinds of avant garde fillings.

Happened by this shop today and was attracted to the beautiful clean space. Tic tac toe boards to play with at the counter height small eat-​in area. The cream puffs and eclairs look like jewels in the glass case perfectly on display. Much thought went into the details of the store. Sadly were the details fail seems to be in the sandwiches.
I asked for a menu to try and decide what I wanted and was told to look at the board behind the register. There is no explanation of what the speciality is other than I sign outside that initially lured me to take a look boasting the best fried chicken sandwich.
I LOVE fried chicken, so I was excited! I ordered the sandwich and a caramel cream puff. What I wasn’t told. was the «bread» for the sandwich was made from the choux pastry dough, or that the chicken was dark meat (thigh) I believe… which was completely flavorless and way too thick and tough for the delicate «bread». Sadly and needless to say the sandwich was nowhere near the best fried chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, and I won’t be going back. Cream puff was tasty and fresh… stick to the sweets and ditch the savory if you want to check this new place out!

I’ve been meaning to come here since I’ve started working nearby. Lunch options in this area are a dime a dozen, very few places that makes it worth paying a lot of money for. I’ve actually been succumbed to getting chipotle for lunch and as much as I love their burrito bowls, it’s tiring on my taste buds. Not to mention wallet.
Finally got the opportunity to visit this intimate location. The place is small as most of the places near by, usually people take their lunch back to their desk to eat. So as far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing wrong with the size of this establishment. Being in the vicinity of multiple business mean there will be lines for people to order not for people to sit down and enjoy their meal. Plus the bar stools are a cute touch as well as the tic tac toe games on the tables. It’s also clean, well kept, and brightly lit with minimal design everywhere.
Onto the food, the menu is very straightforward, the best thing are the combos. Both me and my sister opted for the same sandwich, the fried chicken sandwich combo. That includes a sandwich, side, and a puff pastry.
I settled on the sandwich with poppy bread, truffle fries, and key lime puff. Whereas my sister got the sandwich on plain bread, truffle fries, and mango puff.
The combo comes out to $ 13, which is about the same price for a burrito bowl at Chipotle so it’s a relatively good trade off. The plus is that there are three different things to eat compared to one big thing.
The bread wasn’t toasted but it didn’t detract from the freshness and tastiness, it has almost no crunch but it isn’t completely soft bread either. It’s good enough that it keeps your fillings together. The fried chicken sandwich came with arugula, vermont cheddar, and bbq mayo. The bbq mayo was a huge hit, it ties in the arugula, cheddar and chicken together. Not to mention it’s perfectly rationed so if the chicken is all gone before the rest of the sandwich is, you can still enjoy the remains as it is.
The truffle fries are amazing, there’s not too much to turn you off, it was proportioned just right for the combo set.
My key lime puff is okay, I was glad to see that the cream owns the pastry shell it is in. The key lime was a perfect way to end the meal, it’s refreshing and light, so you don’t fall into a food coma. The puff was not soggy at all but the cream itself almost seemed less cream-​like and more dried up.
The staff here are very courteous and accommodating. The owners were also quite friendly and amusing. This place has potential to be the next best go to lunch spot. Pretty soon, there will be lines out the door during lunch time.
The portion size is just right, again going back to Chipotle and their burrito bowls, I always feel stuffed to the point of not being able to move because I wanted to finish everything and it’s so good. Also it’s money, so of course I have to finish everything. With this place, I don’t feel that and was able to finish everything.

Yes, the sandwiches are small, but damn, they are good. Well made, and each one completely different, with it’s own distinct set of flavors. And no joke, I’ve never seen a staff more friendly, and more serious about taking feedback and enhancing their customer experience. After I first complained about leaving here hungry because of the size of the sandwiches, I came back to find that there is now a more reasonable $ 10 box option, which comes with a side and delivers a more complete meal. 2 words:
Yucca. Fries.
Have you ever had a yucca fry? Well please allow me to alter your life and direct you to the ones at ChouxBox. This is the only side you will ever need. They have said they will keep changing the sides around to keep it interesting, but I hope they keep this around as a regular because it was fantastic!
This outfit is the startup king of the midtown lunch scene. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review upgrade this fast before, but they’re making all the right moves. This place has quickly become one of my lunchtime favs, and it should become one of yours too! GO!

Chouxbox is a very welcome addition to midtown! Among a row of very banal sandwich and salad places comes a unique and creative new spot to breakfast, lunch and snack at! The ambiance is sleek, clean and modern! You are greeted by the owner himself and his wife who passionately explain the menu to you! A creative menu completely based off of the delicious choux bread! For lunch, one has his choice of tasty sandwiches on any type of choux bread he chooses (chipotle, everything, plain among others)! Leave some room for the desserts, a variety of Nutella or pbj choux among many others! Their coffee is amazing, la colombe! Don’t miss out on this great new spot!

Now I had a really interesting experience at this place. I initially came here because a coworker brought a box of some amazing choux that was awesome. So me and a friend decided to go for lunch. This place was very clean and had some of the nicest staff I have ever met. It was a very welcoming atmosphere. We ordered the Chicken Combo with Chipotle Choux bread.
After my order I was approached by I believe to be the owner of the restaurant. He challenged me to a game of Tic Tac Toe and if I beat him my meal would be free. HE WASNT READY FOR DA GAWD. The first game was a tie, the 2^nd game he immediately made a wrong move and it was all over. RIP Owner. As promised my meal was compensated. SHOULDVE WARNED EM’! So we had laughs and they jokingly (hopefully) told me not to come back anymore lolol.
The Chicken Sandwich I had was very good. The quality was amazing but the meal itself wasn’t really filling at all and my coworker agreed. The Sandwich is actually tiny. It’s such a tease. But like I said before, the Choux are actually ridiculous and worth the trip to this place alone. I will definitely go here again just probably not for small lunch. That was a fun walk in.

I came for a late lunch with a couple of coworkers. We were interested in checking this place out a after seeing the strong reviews here for something new and different.
First impressions — the place looks like a macaroon parlor or a fancy Beard Papa’s and I was initially surprised to see they serve breakfast and lunch. The staff was friendly but confused, there were at least 4 people behind the small counter and it took quite a few questions to sort out how to order and what would be included. Since they are so new they are clearly still streamlining operations. I’ll come by again in the Fall to see how things are shaping up here, they seem eager to improve and I imagine they will with time.
The menu is a bit confusing with the box options (sandwich, side salad and a choux) set at different prices while you can switch out the type of bread, side and choux to your liking. My smoked salmon box with a ~¼ lb of orzo ended up costing $ 10 which didn’t make a lot of sense next to my friend’s turkey sandwich with a handful of beet chips at $ 12.
On the food itself, we all enjoyed the flavor and crispiness of the pastry-​style choux bread. Their baker collaborated with a chef from Daniel to modify a pastry recipe for sandwich bread. Nice pedigree! Also the manager came by to check on us and mentioned everything here is made in-​house except the bagged potato chips.
Fried chicken sandwich and two choux ($ 10) — my friend was a fan though he felt the chicken could have been crispier to work with the bread. He chose the BBQ seasoning bread and said it was subtle but tasty. He was a big fan of the choux, especially the hazelnut, and enjoyed a Mexican bottled coke for $ 2.
Salmon sandwich box with feta & olive orzo salad and hazelnut paris-​brest choux ($ 10) — I liked this. The smoked salmon paired well with goat cheese, pickled onion, lettuce and tomato and I chose sesame bread. Orzo was decent and the choux was A+ making this box a good value overall.
Turkey sandwich box with beet chips and a choux ($ 12) — the thick-​sliced turkey looked a bit dry and not as compelling as the professional photo on their site. The grilled peppered onions were a highlight and the beet chips had an addictive roasted flavor. Overall this was disappointing and to my friend who would have preferred Little Collins across the street.
I would come back to try their La Colombe coffee and more of the choux flavors. Little Collins is a formidable competitor nearby in the made-​from-​scratch sandwiches game, but I have a soft spot for places like Chouxbox with a little imagination in the midtown food landscape. I’d recommend coming here for variety in your midtown lunch or breakfast routine.

What a lovely place! Sweetest owner, tasty food, amazing dessert and excellent options.
I had the original breakfast sandwich which features their creation of the softest unlike anything I’ve ever tasted bread. The cappuccino was very tasty. The little circle dessert creations are each filled with different fillings such as Nutella, blueberry cheesecake, etc. I’m addicted!
