My surgery went great but now 4 months later I’m still dealing with billing? I asked the day of my surgery, and at my 2 check-ups later: «What do I owe?» and no one knew anything… but then I get a bill? Not okay at all. When they called me I was only told about the co-pay that I would owe. It’s great for surgery, like amazing, but surgery is traumatic enough and when you ask the first time, you should be told what you have to pay.

Okay, this isn’t a big fancy hospital but do not make assumptions. This place is even better, in my opinion. The good people from Center For Specialty Care, Inc. are very patient and delightful. They do everything in their power to decrease your nervousness and anxiety. More than I can say for a certain law firm(that’ll be in a future review). Now, yes, the woman who calls you to confirm everything and give you instructions sounds somewhat rough around the edges, but do not take that personal. Trust me on this advice. She’s ok. They may have to change the time of the surgery. Be advised. When you get there, the wait may be up to 2 – 2 ½ hours, so please be prepared for that. A woman will give you some forms to fill out about your health, insurance, etc. during your wait. Get there about 15 mins early. There will be others, including escorts in the waiting room also but it wont be crowded. You can relax. If you or your mandatory escort have things to get back to by a certain time, like pick up children from school, arrange for someone you trust to do that for you. You can bring things to entertain yourself like your phone and a magazine. They have magazines but you may not be interested. Better safe than sorry. You may be aggravated and thirsty/hungry but follow instructions. You can take a nap until your name is called. Anyhow, you will be given one big bag to put your belongings in. You will leave that in a locked room. That is the same room you change into the gown in. You will be asked the same health questions you were asked previously and give a urine sample. I was adamant about not being put to sleep and when I spoke to the cool anesthesiologist(Fred Axelrod, MD), I believe, he took his time and explained what he thought about that. I ended up not being fully put under. You will be in the waiting/recovery room for about an hour or less. During this time, Dr. McMahon, who is also wonderful, will stop by and speak with you. If he isn’t your doctor, you’ll be visited by YOUR doctor. You will then be on your way. I was rolled into the operating room where about 9 angels :) I remember a Kim Vasquez, Erica?, Jennifer Bimonte and Angela Piscopo. There is one guy who even gave me a hug on my way out. Can’t remember his name but I know it was a cool name like Axelrod’s, lol. They’re a great team. Anyway, they greeted me and prepared me for surgery. They were smiling and asked me about myself. They even asked me if I wanted to see the procedure being done on a screen but I said NOOOO. The room was cold, of course, so they gave me a warm blanket. Takes about 30 secs to get warm. I told them I didn’t want full anesthesia so they just gave me a little to make me relax– something placed at the opening in your nostrils and you breathe in and if that isn’t enough, you will get a yellow liquid injected into your hand. That burns for about ten seconds but the next thing you know(or dont know lol. jk), everything will be over. I obviously went under but not fully. I remember seeing this guy being wheeled into the recovery room and he was asleep. He was in a deep sleep because he had full anesthesia. I was very alert. They gave me water and graham crackers. Hit the spot! I was only in the recovery room for about 30 mins because I was alert. You’ll stay a little longer if you had full, most likely. They’ll alert your escort that you are ready to leave. You can bring your own crutches or cane or you can purchase one cane for about $ 25. Have someone to help you with errands/chores for 24 hours, if needed. Ok, I just wanted to finally get this review in because they deserve this recognition and also there may be someone who is as nervous as I was then. You’re in good hands. Speedy recovery. Bye. :)

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a lovely, attentive JESSE. Thanks for the hug. Fill out paperwork then youre brought to holding. Your then verified and vitals are taken. Urine pregnancy test after wearing gown then few feet to a stretcher. Ypu will be passing pts recovering already. There I was greeted by 2 amazing nurses, a lovely female Crna and DR.AXELROD. He is a funny, soothing, smooth talking silver hair FOX who puts you at ease. Go ahead and relax as the anesthesia kicks in from the discretely placed iv! Wake up, its all done! Warm caring people. * Shelley, the woman who calls to confirm you is rough around the edges, minus one star. Clean facility, easy to get to. Would highly recommend If your doctor uses them!
