Overall they do not disappoint. I would say MOST of my flights with them had been pleasant. We especially enjoy the many snacks, food and drinks available throughout the flight and the fantastic in-​flight entertainment. Young and nice flight attendants really help make the flight a pleasant journey as oppose to many other airlines with grumpy jaded flight attendents.

In October of 2011, Cathay Pacific Airways sent me a free Silver Membership for the Marco Polo Club because I travel relatively often (Hong Kong and Taipei once every seven months; or at least once per year).
During September and October of 2012, I flew to Hong Kong («HKG») and Taipei («TPE») again. My flight from JFK to HKG was upgraded from Economy to Premium Economy. I have heard that it’s about a $ 600 difference. My review of Premium Economy is that although there is a different menu and the screen for the wonderful entertainment system is larger, it wasn’t the touch screen that is available in economy. I still had to use the remote, which isn’t bad, especially considering that the program itself has been updated since I last flew Cathay Pacific in March of 2012. (It must also be noted here that larger touch screens are just more difficult for aircraft and that is probably why Cathay still requires a remote). The seat itself was very large and comfortable for a 15.5 hour flight from JFK to HKG. The food was almost the same as in economy, and therefore, unless you are six feet two inches and 220 pounds like myself, you probably won’t find the extra price worth it for Premium Economy.
My flight from HKG to TPE was upgraded to Business Class. Great food, wonderful service, kind flight attendants — made me feel so welcome and happy. I even wished that my flight was longer than merely 90 minutes! Each seat gets its own overhead bin. The television was very, very large and the seat reclined into a flatbed.
TPE back to HKG was again upgraded to Business Class. Same comments as above.
My HKG to JFK was in regular economy. I love the new touch screen system! Cathay has also revamped the entire seat, now you can plug in your iPod, charge something via USB, and charge something via a normal outlet (outlet is by your ankles) simultaneously! So impressed! New storage space in the of me was a brilliant idea — I placed my charging cell phone there. Please note that at anytime, you may request a bowl of instant noodles or get up, go to the back, and get sandwiches, crackers, drinks, etc. Gin, Vodka, Wines, Scotch, Sherry, et al are all available in economy free of charge. You can also ask for Haagen Dazs ice cream. If you’re too lazy to get up because you’re in a middle of a movie, be sure to press the «call crew» button.
The only better experience I’ve had in economy is with Singapore Airlines from Hong Kong to Singapore, but they’ve won accolades universally, so it’s meaningful for me to say this — Cathay’s experience is close to Singapore Airlines’!
I will try to remember to upload some photographs I took from the various cabins during my recent trip. I hope your experience proves to be as pleasant as mine was. If not, please be sure to complain! Ask the flight attendant for a comment form and continue to follow up.

Been trying to get hold of their New York reservation number 1−800−233−2742 to change my flights for 30 mins now, the line just keep constantly busy (it’s not even picked-​up by an automated system or anything of that sort); either that or something’s broken down.
Also tried their office in Manhattan but doesn’t seem to help. Is there any other number to call? (Does their Customer Service dept. check these reviews here at all?)

Whoa. I am shocked by the rating of Cathay by my Unilocaling peers. In my book, Business Class on the new Cathay 757s is exceptional. I traveled Cathay on my flight to Hong Kong as well as my trip home from Singapore. I flew it again round-​trip to the Philippines and back. Cathay offers excellent service by friendly flight attendants, comfortable seats, good food, an array of TV/​movies to pick from — it doesn’t get much better than this… however I am detracting 1 star because the old planes have weird pods for seats in Business which is a bit awkward.

We flew to HK via Cathay Pacific airways on 02÷11÷12 and mind you, I made sure we got the front row seats (well, after the business class, of course) and I was so dismayed that they ran out of my food preference and the one that I got tasted blahhh!
Bad timing not to bring my own food. We landed in HK; starving and really had nasty jetlags.
I am asian but I feel cramped with their legroom.
I don’t know about you but I will definitely NOT fly Cathay again! They are way OVERRATED & OVERPRICED!

Poor customer service. Overpriced and overrated. Continental Airlines offers direct flight to Hong Kong and better about pricing and service.

Oh, how I love racking up 18,000 American Airlines points without stepping foot on one of their planes!
I recently flew Cathay Pacific for the second time on a trip from Jakarta to JFK via Hong Kong and, having also tried Singapore Airlines, I think that CP is just a tad better. And a tad better than Singapore Airlines equals about 25 times better than any domestic carrier.
Who knew that an airline had enough respect to give those of us in economy class a seat with enough legroom and back support to withstand the 16 hour journey that is the HKG-​JFK long haul route?! And give each seat a charger for your electronic devices? And give you a menu? Are you seriously going to give us CHOICES for our meals? What’s more, the food is surprisingly edible! More than edible, in fact. Downright decent!
Service was very pleasant and attendants came by frequently (aka more than once every 2 hours) to offer refreshments and snacks to weary passengers. I was blown away (though I think it’s pathetic how little it takes to impress me now).
AND since I booked my CP ticket on American Airlines’ website, I actually got all my miles credited to AA! Word! Do this if you don’t fly to Asia often and you have a domestic frequent flyer account.
Here is the one clincher with Cathay: While I was in Indonesia, my aunt told me that she had also flown CP from Amsterdam to Jakarta and apparently on the European routes, they have a strict 17Kg weight limit for all your check-​in items combined as well as a 7Kg limit on carry-​on luggage. Make sure to look this up on their website before booking and happy travels!

Recent extended travels has find myself once again to my highly desirable Asia’s World City – HONG KONG!
Four stars as the seats do not recline for a stiff back, no printed meal menu, two measly meals lunch and dinner (no breakfast), no basic amenities where I was very much in need, plague by a broken headphone, inundated with a fifteen page eternal survey in Chinese (no English survey), plague with another setback of having my check-​in luggage mark «HEAVY» for the first time in my flying history existence… all to cut costs inflicted by today’s ailing world economy! What else? STOP.

FOCUS ON THE GOOD! Which this leads to excellent choice of movies in various Asian languages and recent releases including my favorite «Harry Potter 7: Deathly Hallows, Part 1», «Black Swan», «Green Hornet» in conjunction with leading musicians as Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga plus various leading Asia’s singers/​musicians. A replacement headphone to rectify the inaudibility, further focus on the good to an immediate response from activating the «attendant call» button in dire need of water for a coughing victim. Courteous airline crew who are fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Quality of food slightly better than average, rebound to further give warmth to my heart with Häagen-​Dazs ice cream served inflight! This Boeing aircraft B-777−300 ER was somewhat stable in air for the less abrasively violent air turbulence unlike smaller aircrafts.

TERRIBLE ECONOMY SEATS. The seats do not recline, they slide forward which is terrible as it puts weight on your lower back. 15 hours of flight and I wanted to curl up and die. NEVER AGAIN.
