Before this supermarket changed its name to Food Universe they had expired items on a consistent basis. Even after they changed from C-Town to Food Universe, they still have expired items on a consistent basis so I don’t see you the difference besides changes in management. Before purchasing items here, check the expiration dates as most produce and other perishable items are usually expired here. Everytime I go into this supermarket, I’m constantly bringing perishable items back because they are expired, very expired. If I can, I usually avoid shopping here and I would rather go to Stop& Shop over on Hillside Avenue, or to Fairway located in Douglaston. If you can, avoid shopping here. You might save yourself from having food poisoning and possibly needing a penicillin shot. If you must shop here please take the time to check the dates.

It’s now called Food Universe. I only go here when I can’t get to another store. The fruit is always moldy and the prices are high. The only time I really buy anything is when it is on sale. I really don’t understand where they get their fruit from that it’s always spoiled. I just go down the road to the Food Town in Bellerose now because their fruit is always fresh. The meat is also some kind of cheap cuts. If you don’t use it right away it spoils the next day and it’s not quality meat at all. It seems like they buy the food that others are about to get rid of and try to sell it last minute. The staff is very friendly and I’ve never had anything but politeness from the cashiers. Their deli counter is very good and they get a lot of business so the meat is fresh and the guys who work there keep things moving at a good pace.

I’m really not a fan of this supermarket. They had a problem with credit cards getting hacked. The staff is kind of rude. They all talk across the registers in Spanish about people. They commonly make the mistake of thinking the person doesn’t speak Spanish. It’s also really overpriced. I avoid this place of I can.

Horrible service, the check out girl didn’t even finish her transaction with one customer and she already has her phone out! And as usual like other ctowns this ones pricey like others. BEWARE!

While I can’t say this is your upscale supermarket, the people are very nice inside and the store has been renovated to look a bit cleaner. They have a great selection of foods from the West Indies to India. Their croissants from the bakery section are also divine! I give it a 4 because I see it on the rise!

Oh C-Town you silly little girl. masquerading as a Supermarket when you’re just a couple square feet from being a big old bodega. I abhor this C-Town and purposely drive to the Waldbaums in Glen Oaks when I need anything EVEN milk. I can’t stand this C-town because its usually really dirty and all the bottles have this unidentified film of dirt on them. The people who work there are extremely useless and the only people truly earning their money are the guys at the deli. This one star is for the very large Spanish foods section. The worst part about it i the people who bag your groceries at the end of the conveyor belt with the bucket of change for tips blatantly in your face. I mean. give me the option to bag my own groceries and I won’t mind tipping your dude my change. This place reeks of mediocrity and yet just the other day I saw a brand new sign up sleek and shiny as ever… Is this where your money is going C-tizown.cause it’s certainly not showing on the inside.
