About Us:

BFS was founded by Renee Schweke, IRS Enrolled Agent. While not popularly known, the EA designation has been around since the Civil War. Different than CPAs who may specialize in any accounting area, EAs focus on tax only. We are federally licensed by the US Treasury, empowered to represent taxpayers in any location in all matters before the IRS, and are not limited to the state where we obtain our licensure. There are approximately 48,000 practicing EAs in the US.

You can trust an EA to have proven knowledge of the US tax code and the ability to guide you toward your best tax scenario. Trust BFS to define the intersection between taxes and your money — in your favor. We are your tax advocate.

History

Established in 2011.

My philosophy is that while taxes are not meant to be fun, your experience with a tax practitioner should be. If you have an IRS problem, don’t let it go. That’s definitely no fun– but do call me and I’ll work to get that resolved.

My office is located in the heart of a new upscale «hipster» Brooklyn building, one block from the #5 & 2 trains. I serve tea :-)

Because I’m an EA, I do a lot of out-​of-​town work and am very «virtual.» There’s no need for you to leave your home or office. The phone’s my friend, and so are some of my clients!

In-​person services are by appointment only. Listed hours are late afternoons to evening (4 – 9 pm), but accommodations are do-​able. If you need me to come to you, I can do that.

Business Owner

Renee is the founder of BFS and specializes in a variety of tax matters including personal and business tax preparation, tax planning, IRS tax conflict representation, and foreign tax issues. She has gained vast experience with foreign entity tax procedures and in-​depth knowledge of tax treaty law intricacies in her capacity as Unit Chief of Tax Reporting in the NYC Comptroller’s Office, Bureau of Accountancy.

She holds a BA from Queens College from 1994, and went on to earn degrees in accounting and financial criminology from North Seattle College in 2010. Rather than standing on the other side of the fence, Renee chose to go down the representation road, and is committed to helping taxpayers arrive at a resolution to their IRS controversies while providing outstanding tax preparation service.

Renee is a complete tax geek and will speak incessantly about tax matters to anyone who will listen. This may include dogs, cats, and small children.
