Booze Carriage

Great idea, terrible implementation. They’ve never gotten my order right, never have the beer I order, and always take longer than 1.5hrs to get to me. Avoid!

I have had some decent, although never flawless experiences with Booze Carriage and the concept is amazing. Sadly the execution is not. On my last order the most important item I ordered, a $ 74 bottle of whisky was not received. I got a call from Damian after the order was charged to my card saying the store did not have the item in stock. He assured me I would be issued a credit for the $ 74. I have not been issued that credit and it is 6 Days later. I have called, left voice messages, emailed, used their on line message service and attempted the chat service all to no avail. They have a message up on their site that says «closed due to weather» and have had that up for several days. It is cold out, although yesterday day it was in the 30’s, but there is no precipitation or ice or any other weather that would warrant the 3 day closing of a business. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company, but its just not worth this much trouble.
The previous order I placed for supplies for a party on the night off the party. I waited for two hours nothing showed. I tried the chat function on the website, and got no response, so I called. Damian said, oh sorry, that vendor is not delivering tonight, you won’t be getting your order. Ill refund your money. He did refund the money, but I was left with no booze for my party. Also, why did they let me sit there for 2 hours and not bother to call me?
Bottom line. Its a very hit or miss thing… mostly miss with Booze Carriage. I have a had better luck with
It is just a poorly managed business. I didn’t immediately write a bad review. I really wanted this business to work. I spoke with management who blamed it on lack of capitol investment, but the problems I see don’t have a thing to do with capital investment, its just bad management. It seems like I have a greater desire to make this service work than the founder. I guess sometimes you just get tired of trying.

I think Booze Carriage as a concept and company is great. What falls short are their partners who fail to deliver (literally sometimes). I ordered from them a handful of times and they were all seamless. Their customer service is great as well, emphasis on great. However, the last time I ordered from them which was last week, it took them 1.5 hours, (8:41pm order, 10:02pm delivery) to get to me. They also got my order wrong because they don’t have what I want in stock. The vendor called me using an unknown number twice and thus I wasn’t able to call back. I did call their corporate line to check up on it twice. The person on the other end was helpful but didn’t inform me that they didn’t have it in stock until it was already delivered. I think it was a clear communication on both our part but that isn’t the issue (more on that later).
After I got the wrong item, I called their main line again and they offered to have someone pick it up and refund me my money the next day. My issue isn’t with the money but rather the service and product that I received (I ordered a Wild Turkey and received a plastic 750ml Jim Beam). I usually work until 8:00pm and don’t want to bother with the pickup and delivery. Additionally, what really really really bothered me was that they substituted a product that was inferior to what I ordered.
I really want to give them my business since they seem to be nice people and I want to support their venture… but I think I’ll take my business elsewhere ala Drizly.

I’ve used them several times (I hate giving negative reviews) since my initial review, and I have to say that although the delivery times still tend to suck, NOTHING nearly as bad as my original experience.

Wow! Unilocal reviews are so skewed that it was hard to determine if this place was really bad or really great because customers either love or hate this place. Well my experience was stellar. I ordered several large bottles of wine online prior to them opening so I knew not to expect my order until well after 12pm. I was happy if I got my order before 5 but it showed up at my office door at about 12:45pm which was blazing fast considering the website said they open about noon.
Perfect solution for corporate delivery when you need same day service. If this is anything like ordering flowers online I suspect at some point they might disappoint but Booze Carriage was recommended by colleagues who have had great experiences. I def will use again and recommend.

Had a great experience using this service. Ordering from my iPhone was simple, and my order arrived within 10 minutes of the delivery time I selected.

Booze Carriage was the first alcohol delivery service I heard of in New York City, so what did I do? Order some booze of course. I’ve used this service a handful of times and I feel like the there’s always a delay, they mess up orders, and overall they seem to take much longer than they should. I’ve found alternative delivery services which seem to be more seamless.

It sounds unbelievable, but booze delivery is actually a thing! I ordered some Jack Daniels and 1800 tequila for a party, they had it at my door in 30 minutes. They have a pretty good selection on the site, about the same as your local liquor store. The best part is everything goes for regular price! No added charge for convenience. I’ll definitely be using them again.
P. S. If you don’t live in their delivery area, they’ll ship to you via UPS.

Booze carriage has been amazing for the work happy hours we’ve had. It was super quick and we didn’t have to leave the office, and we were able to find something for everyone in the office. They’ve also been amazing for the few gatherings I’ve had at my apartment, definitely recommended for any event or get together!

Think putting your local liquor store on an easy to browse website, soo convenient. In love with it, I recommend it to everyone I know. Great for when you don’t have time to run out and get beer, wine or liquor, just jump on the website order it in 1 2 3 and it’s at the door in no time! I’m an event planner and I use BC for every event, don’t know how I did it before

This is a review on the customer service experience I received the other day with Dave. There was a miscommunication with the delivery I had ordered. I wanted it to be a surprise for someone, and unfortunately the office has strict security and wouldn’t let the delivery guy through. On top of that, the first address ended up being incorrect because the office had moved. Everything was so crazy, and obviously, I can’t imagine how frustrated this must have been for them. I just told them to forget about it and refund me since I didn’t want to continue on with yet another opportunity for a failed delivery on my part.
Although this was not their fault, Dave was very apologetic and continued to try to process the delivery despite how impossible it seemed. I received a call later saying they really tried but were unable to get passed security in the building, and offered me a discount code on my next order. My delivery didn’t go through, but having quality A+ customer service like that took a load of frustration on my end.
I’ve had people deliver me surprise bottles at my office in the past, and I haven’t had any problems with deliveries. I’m not discouraged to order from Booze Carriage again :)

What a time to be alive! I love using BC for booze deliveries, especially when the party has already started and you can’t run out. We’ve used Booze Carriage twice so far, once for a local party and another for a catered business event. Both times the service was quick and our orders were correct. The price of the alcohol isn’t always competitive, but you pay for convenience! It’s a great back-​up for alcohol emergencies and we are very happy with it so far!

Totes LOVE this service. It comes in maj handy and I recommend to everyone. The best part is that it’s the same price as going to the store!

Free shipping, great selection, super fast delivery. There was a slight mixup in my original order, but after I reached out to customer service they went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied and everyone was happy (and buzzed) in the end.

again! out of two things i ordered they are out of BOTH… why is it even on the website then? then they try to up sell me on something thats not even comparable… sorry booze carriage. was a fan. now im not… need to get your business ironed out or your going down hill from here.

seems their business practice is bait and switch. they seem never to have the product you order anymore. Maybe they make more money on things that arent selling hence the «oh where out of this one» turns out i looked at my chase online and saw where the charge was from and called up and they do have Johnnie black over there.

TLDR: NOT EVEN A REAL COMPANY. THEY ROUTE YOUR ORDER TO YOUR LOCAL LIQUOR STORE, SCREW UP YOUR ORDER, AND MARK IT UP 10%.
This website sucks. so you order whatever it is you want, 90% of the time they don’t have half of it, so without telling you they substitute another form of wine or beer, and deliver some random crap to your door completely defeating the purpose of picking out what you want. Naturally, after ordering 5 times, and never getting what i want, i decide to question them on the phone. They inform me that they are not booze
, and im speaking to just a local liquor store that got the order form the website. they said the website is just a poorly run web business that reroutes order. they said the company never updates the website, so they usually list things that are not available. anyhow, no reason to order from this site. search for your local liquor store that delivers, and you get the same thing, 10% cheaper, and you’ll actually get what you order.
Probably one of the worst businesses on the planet, without question. I would never write a review, but it was so frustrating, i took the time out of my life to write the first review ever. The only thing good about this abomination is that the liquor does in fact work.

After I was unable to find a liquor store open on Easter to get some wine delivered, a quick Google search yielded Booze Carriage as an alternative.
I was a little skeptical at first based on the previous mixed Unilocal reviews but decided to give the site a shot anyways. I ordered two bottles of red wine.
While the site guarantees a window of 30 – 60 minutes for delivery, I was thrilled to see that my expectations were exceeded. The wine came from the submission of my order to my door in less then ten minuets.
A fantastic concept with a flawless execution… Way to go!!!

Last night was my first experience with Booze Carriage — I ordered some wine and beer and it was a little frustrating. Overall, I think it is a great idea that just needs some time to mature. I thought the website was a little slow and also not very intuitive. I understand why I need to place separate orders for wine and beer/​liquor, but it was a bit annoying to have to deal with two separate deliveries. It would be great if they could coordinate this on the back end
My wine order was apparently never received by the wine store. After waiting 90 minutes, I called and was assured that the deliver would go out immediately.
My beer order arrived on time, however the delivery person (appears to be store employee) was very rude.
It’s a little difficult to rate a business that addresses my laziness or the fact that I may be too incapacitated to walk to the store. Though my first experience was lacking, I’ll continue to use booze carriage as I love the concept. Hopefully with this feedback and the feedback of others they can improve their methodology for delivery.

It’s a great idea! «Seamless» for booze! But executed badly! We thought we would give it a try on a Sunday night before President’s day. Ordered a six pack of flying dogs, a four pack of flying dog IPA and fischer amber ale. One hour later, no email confirmation, no call no nothing!
Called them, and they said, they will call us back to confirm. Another 10mins, and they called, to tell they did not have Fischer Amber Ale and substituted with Chimay, FINE but NOT FINE!
Then waited another 30mins to get it delivered! I could have have a six pack downed by the time these clowns got here! Never again!
