We have created a all-day breakfast & lunch menu focused on nutritious and high quality foods including signature dishes such as Coconut Quinoa Porridge, Poached Eggs on Avocado smash for breakfast, Kale and holistic grain salads for lunch. We also have an extensive craft and Australian influenced beer and wine list.

As per all Bluestone Lane locations, we also use the highest quality coffee, paired with highest skilled baristas and best equipment. We are focused on making the customer feel special, like it’s their local despite the corporate jungle they may be surrounded in.

History

Established in 2014.

Melbourne Australia inspired purveyors of premium coffee culture brought to New York City in 2013. Now with three locations (Midtown East, Financial District, West Village) and two further locations to open by October 2014 in Bryant Park and NOHO.

We are dedicated to producing only the highest quality coffee and complimentary foods, delivered in a unique and engaging way. Founded Bluestone Lane after moving to New York from Melbourne Australia. He then set to form a team that could help realize a vision of bringing better, more personal coffee & café experiences to New York, like those commonly found in his home town. With the efforts of this great team and fantastic support from the New York community, Bluestone Lane has been able to open a number of locations in NYC, including the flagship Bluestone Lane — Collective Café in the heart of West Village.

My friends and I had brunch here and I ordered the green baked eggs (very dr. Seuss). It was salty but it was still really good. If I ordered it again, I would ask for less salt.
I also got the flat white, as recommended by our waitress. I thought it was decent but I am no coffee connoisseur.
Service was good and we never felt rushed, which is nice for brunch on the weekend.

Waited about 15 minutes to be sat for Sunday brunch and all they had available was outdoor seating, although it was November and fairly cold. Then waited an insane amount of time for our food which were very simple orders. The coffee was good as expected and the banana bread was good, but not worth the wait.

Tiny but cozy place. The waiters and waitress are all Aussies and the brunch style is totally Australian. Heard it’s the best Australian coffee u can have in NYC. I think summer is a better time to choose to visit here. Just because the decorations are all summer– like. Blue is the base tone of this café, reminds of you surfing and beach. Also they have open areas to sit but this time of the year… U can imagine. Had the brekkie board which is half portion of the avocado smash and half portion of the granola. The service is really slow, waited for like 20 mins to get our entrees on. So that kind of killed the appetizer. Couldn’t finish the whole thing cuz I probably prefer some hot stuff to warm up my stomach in the morning but what I get were cold/icy food. Slightly overpriced compare to other American brunch places. $ 4 for flat white. $ 16 for brekkie board. $ 12 for a brunch sandwich entrée.

Super friendly staff (like REALLY friendly). Smooth ass flat whites (ask for almond milk). Convenient, simple and delicious breakfast options. And great seating; a 1,000 golden stars for that backroom, like DAMN the backroom seating is on point! Love the cushions, the colors, the table set-up, the wall décor, and the overall brightness of the room! It’s love. Utter love.
Just thought I’ll mention that this place is definitely a legit Australian eatery. For one thing, the whole staff is Australian (gotta love that accent), and a family from Australia that happened to be visiting the city decided to pop into this place, so if native Australians are digging this place then that tells you a lot.
It wouldn’t hurt to lower the prices of the food items, just a tad… but overall me and my company really liked this place. And this place made me appreciate Australia a little bit more, in other words, fuck Johnny Depp!

Cute little café in the West Village with coffee and brunch items. Looks small from the front but there is some additional seating in the back! Wait for 2 on a Sunday was around 30 minutes– not bad. Got some coffee while waiting from the to-go counter.
They have almond and soy milk for their non-dairy options. Almond latte was great! They also serve brewed coffee in cute little mason jars.
The menu is small but definitely adequate! I never felt restaurants needed to have a large menu, if what they offer is good.
I had the smashed avocado toast– LOTS of avocado served on a large slice of hearty bread for $ 12. Ask for tobasco sauce if you want to add some spice! They also have options to add eggs and other sides. Other items: porridge, granola, sandwiches. Generous portions.
Good place for brunch and avocado toast– however given the trendiness of avocado toast I find it hard to differentiate «good» from «bad» avo toast. Service was pretty good and food was served in reasonable amount of time.
I will return for brunch in the future probably.

I’ve eaten here a few times before writing this review because I wanted to really love this place. Like the other reviews say, the food is beautiful and delicious, and the place itself is super cute. On top of that, the staff are all really friendly.
The bad:
1. The food takes forever. I just don’t understand why it takes 30+ mins to put avocado on a piece of toast.
2. It’s very expensive. I had an avocado smash (the avocado toast mentioned above) and a standard hot coffee. My bill was $ 30 after tip.
If these two issues were resolved, it would be 5 stars from me.

Australia in NYC! This restaurant is very cute, popular for brunch & has a photo friendly menu.
I wanted so badly for the food to taste as good as it looked but it wasn’t quite up to par. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes which were OK, not light & fluffy, they were a bit dense. The toast & avocado smash is just what it is. a large slice of toast with half an avocado mashed up that you smear yourself. Add salt and pepper. Though basic, the avocados are fresh which is nice.
The coffee is also mediocre but has nice latte art that comes with it.
Service is slow but staff are friendly & have Aussie accents. Would I wait longer than 15 mins to eat here again? Probably not but I’d give it another try.

The food here is amazing to feast with your eyes. The brunch plates are soooooooo colorful and beautifully crafted. And it all seems really clean and healthy — totally my type of food.
Brekkie board was amazing. Avocado toast is always good, and their bread was that perfect fusion between crusty outer shell and inner softness. Egg was perfectly poached — mm, runny yolk. The granola on the yogurt parfait was soooooo crunchy. Not sure how they make it so crunchy, but it’s amazingly delicious. And the lemon curd was delightfully tangy.
My friend got the quinoa bowl, and it tasted a little «too healthy» and kinda mushy. The mix of everything was okay, but something I’d never really order. Flavors all just got lost in each other and didn’t really make that much sense. Her latte also came out a little cold, but they made her a new one promptly.
Service was really nice here though — really nice gentleman took the time to explain the coffee menu to us and made sure everything was good. Ambiance is super quaint and perfect for a cozy catch up.
I thought the prices were a little steep for what it is – even for NYC standards. Like you have to add an egg for $ 3 which makes some of the dishes come to $ 18, where other brunch places are like $ 13-ish per plate with eggs.

Skip the Balthazar toast etc with anything else. Way too much bread and underwhelming. The best things we got were the avo smash and the granola! I was in love with the granola that comes with lemon curd, yogurt and toasted granola.

Ugh This place is simply amazing. The interior is so beautiful, we sat at the very back courtyard they called it. The rain was falling against the window pane and I had chai tea (so yummy and tasty for 5 $ I got to pour two cups) with the brick walls and pillows. SO COZY. perfect café for a date too, but also any kind of get together.
It was very nice, fits like 2 – 4 people not a big crowd.
My friend got the salad with salmon on a Thursday, it was very fresh! I enjoyed it.
Next time I want to get the Brekkie Board it looks insane.

Service was good, he was nice about giving us more time and didn’t give us shade even though only 1 person ordered a real dish LOL. They allowed me to charge my phone (y) and take mad pictures.

My second time here and Bluestone does not disappoint! My friends and I came on a Monday afternoon to avoid the lengthy (but worthwhile) waits for tables on the weekend. Though there is no one to greet you immediately, you will definitely get someone’s attention once you step inside. We were seated at a table outside and we couldn’t ask for more with good food and great weather.
My friends got the baked green eggs (sounds like Dr. Seuss, I know) and the corn fritters. Though I didn’t try their dishes, my friend says the corn fritters keep her coming back for more and prevent her from trying new things on the menu because they’re so good.
My smoked salmon sandwich was very nicely seasoned. They are very generous with the salmon. The only thing I would say is the toast is a little hard to get through with your fork and knife. However, it definitely tastes fresh (made there and day of, I suspect). Would recommend if you don’t mind a little extra effort and a lot of crumbs on your table!

High quality ingredients, delicious Australian coffee, and corner outdoor/indoor seating on an absolutely gorgeous West Village street. We enjoyed Avocado Smash, Balthazar toast, and Granola with our flat whites. The toast was impressively thick, jams fresh, and avocado delicious.
The place was busy on a Tuesday at 10am and seemed half populated by Australians — customers and servers, both. Service was a tad slow for what we ordered. Don’t come here in a rush and you’ll have a delicious meal at a gorgeous café in the W Village.

I recently discovered this bright brunch café and I fell in love. It has my favorite breakfast foods (avocado) so I was beyond satisfied.
I came here with a few friends and thankfully we came early enough so we didn’t have to wait for seating. I had the corn fritters while my friend had the avocado toast. I was slightly disappointed that my corn fritters came with bacon when it says on the menu that it is with smoked salmon. I don’t eat bacon so I forced my friend to eat it. Other than that small bump, I enjoyed the entire experience.

Showed up on Saturday morning about noon, and only waited about 20 min for a table for 3. I had previously stopped in here on a Saturday morning just to grab some coffee, and saw people eating this amazing looking avocado toast. So this past Saturday I just had such a craving for avocado toast that I thought I would come back and try it. It was perfect. The only thing that I didn’t like was the knife provided was a butter knife and I had a hard time cutting the toast hahaha. One of the girls we were with is actually allergic to avocados and she orders the egg skillet which she said was delicious.
The only real critic I have is service was a tad slow, but nothing unbearable, I won’t hold that against them and I will definitely be back for avocado toast.

Perfect place for brunch or an afternoon pick me up when you need to get out of the office. It’s a cutesy place with indoor and outdoor seating.
I got the avocado smash toast (I swear there’s a whole avocado on this, I love it). There was feta cheese, and halved cherry tomatoes. I suggest adding on a poached egg (+ $ 3) so worth it. Along with it, I got the magic. I had asked my server what it was, with a name like magic you just have to ask. I thought it was spiked or something. She actually didn’t know and had to ask someone inside. :/But maybe she was new, who knows? So what it turns out to be is that it’s similar to a latte, but smaller. And more espresso, less milk.
Service is quick and friendly. Kinda reminds me of the cute trendy cafes in Amsterdam. Would come again, I hear the breakfast foods are great. Brunch is served till 4! Perfect for late risers like myself! :)

Came here for breakfast this morning, and it was the perfect spot to start the day. The staff is friendly, the space light and refreshing (make sure to check out the back room!) and the food will leave you feeling great.

Coconut porridge: Pretty good, nothing you can’t make at home though.
Avocado mash: The star of the meal, it looks like they put an entire avocado on it! The tomatoes were absolutely fresh, and it could easily be shared by two people.
Flat white: Perfect. The barista is a latte art sensation on Instagram!
Great for some pre-work calm before the storm, as I imagine it gets crowded on weekends.

The Quick: Delicious coffee, flavorful different brunch options, and friendly staff. Great place to bring a book and spend a few hours, just note the food is pricey.
The Details: You walk in to this cozy little coffee spot which seems to be crowded at all times of the day. Many of the staff members have an Australian accent (which I love!) and everyone is very attractive. If possible, try to get a seat in the front which is perfect for people watching. The back room is cozy as well but has less lighting and less seats available by a window.
The coffee was fantastic and extremely reasonably priced ($ 1.50). Per staff recommendation, I got the flat white which is similar to a cappuccino but stronger.
Best Dish: Now the food is where it gets interesting. I ordered the pumpkin and feta fritter which was extremely different, flavorful, and mouthwatering. It’s basically pumpkin and feta baked together until crispy, than covered in avocado/guacamole goodness. From here, they top it with greens, pickled beets, and a side of smoked salmon.
If you logically think about all of these flavor combinations, it’s mind-boggling. It was honestly one of the most delicious and exotic brunch dish I’ve ever eaten. I added a poached egg which was overcooked so it didn’t add much flavor, however it did help fill me up.
This dish was outstanding and I’d recommend it to anyone, however it isn’t heavy and could leave you a bit hungry. If your looking for a light and healthy brunch/breakfast this is perfect. If you’re starved, I wouldn’t recommend.
The Damage: My delicious entrée + coffee came to $ 23 + tip. I felt it was pricey as I am still hungry, but with quality ingredients I think it’s worth the splurge.
Cannot wait to return!
