Don’t trust their listings
I rented an apartment that Blu Realty listed as being 956 sq feet. When I started taking measurements of the apartment to decide what furniture to buy for the place I discovered the apartment was only 857 sq feet (including all closet space, cut-​outs and duct space — so the entire possible foot print of the apartment). When I contacted my agent at Blu to query this I was told that they quote the size listed on the official condo offering plan and to back that up they sent me a floor plan they said was the official floor plan. Unfortunately the room areas quoted on the floor plan only add to 788 sq feet. I asked for a refund on part of my broker fee and their response was — have your lawyer call us.

I’ve been using Vimal for apartments for the past 5 years. I’ve done my research, I meet a lot of people and always figure out all the options available to me for any situation. After meeting with many realtors it was refreshing to have someone who knew the areas we were visiting and did not bother me with apartments that were not what I was looking for. Vimal helped me move into my first apartment on 52^nd and 9^th. Another at 37^th and 9^th and now where I finally resided in Gramercy. Each time we had to see less and less apartments because he took the time to see where I was at, where I have been and where I am going. With my last move I saw 3 apartments and I was sold by the second one he showed me. He did not want to waist my time or his with unwanted efforts that would not benefit me. And I might have to break a lease coming up and he’s even been great by offering to help me find a new tenant for it.

I used the services of Vimal Ramachandran to help find my first apartment when I moved into New York City and I am glad that I did. Vimal was recommended to my by a personal close friend and I was not disappointed.
There are lots of shady agents in the NYC real estate market and working with VImal was a refreshing relief. Vimal was always prompt to return phone calls and emails and was very thorough in guiding me through the process. I chose to work with Vimal and Blue over anyone else because Vimal was honest and extremely respectful of my time. He worked around my strict 9 – 5 schedule and carefully used my preferred areas to only show me something I would like to rent. Effortless, smooth and the fastest rental process from start to finish I have ever had in NYC.
I can’t say enough good things about Vimal and I have recommended him time and time again to friends who have had similar experiences. Vimal gets a huge thumbs up in my book!

As a landord, I used Vimal Ramachandran as my agent over the past 2 months and he was wholly incompetent and negligent in his basic duties as a rental agent. I called and emailed his supervisor, Vincent Rocco, who did not return my call or email. Rocco’s failure to supervise and respond to client concerns highlight that its a systemic problem at Blu Realty. I shall follow up the below with the REBNY and pursue all legal recourse for loss of rental income.
Vimal failed to
1) obtain security deposit and 1^st month rent upon signing of the lease
2) as alleged by the tenant, vimal informed potential tenant that the board approval process would take only 1 – 2 days which is ludicrous in this market but failed to inform me.
3) submitted a board package incompletely without the requisite landlord signature throughout the board package which was plainly obvious. the board called me, incredulous, that such a rental agent was so wholly incompetent, resulting in a fatal delay with the tenant walking away. Vimal repeated that the board application process was not clear in requesting my landlord signatures. this is plainly a bald faced lie.
4) did not have professional responsibility to respond to my emails and voice calls.
It is important that these detailed facts are brought to the world’s attention so that the users of Unilocal may be better informed to make a wiser decision.

I found a perfect studio apartment on the Upper West Side with a great help from Blu Realty. My case probably was one of the hardest for them. a short credit history, not a U.S. citizen, etc., but Zina (a lady who helped me find my new place) just didn’t give up!!! She was very nice, patient, helpful, and pleasant to go viewing places with. I definitely recommend this realtor! Thanks very much!!!
