I sometimes need to drop off my clients dogs for grooming. They are always friendly and happy to take care of the small details. It can be loud, so if your dog is used to other animals, this place can be it’s favorite friendly doggy meet-​up.

We absolutely love Biscuits and Bath. As new puppy owners, they have helped us every step of the way. Our baby is now 3.5 months old and thriving in B&B. She knows the way there and runs down the block and down the ramp. Mind you she is a little Frenchie that hates to walk. She does daycare almost daily and on the weekends we drop her off for a little while just to play because it’s so much cleaner than a doggy park. Everyone there knows my pup and tells us how things went when we pick her up. I usually come by and catch someone on the play field holding her and giving her love. When she was a little younger she would get cold so they would take her out and warm her up under their sweaters. They know everyone’s temperament and who gets along with which dogs and will make adjustments accordingly. We also use their trainers and vets and everyone is very caring, knowledgable and available. The unlimited daycare ends up costing less than most dog walkers with the bonus of including weekends. I can’t imagine my pup sitting home alone bored all day when she could be there socializing with both humans and dogs. I can’t believe the previous negative reviews. My boyfriend is a harsh critic and even he has nothing but great things to say about B&B. They really are my puppy’s second family.

Seriously, don’t!
I put my dog here once for one night. The staff was actually nice and the place seems fine (but it stinks!).
HOWEVER;
1) They do not keep you updated as they should. I got one picture through the whole day.
2) They painted a very pink picture about the dog happiness’ that was not true. The dog did not play with other dogs and did not eat for 24 hr, which is something an owner should know about.
3) They have a practice which I call ‘if you don’t argue’. They will basically try to charge you on many unnecessary services and fees, hoping the customer will not argue. They tried to convince me my dog NEEDS a shot, though a simple counting would have a revealed he shouldn’t, and they tried to charge me $ 50 for late check-​out even though I waited for them to open up, and still picked the dog 30 minutes before time.
I will go with one of the more independent and personal dog care next time.

I usually do not complain if I have an issue with something, thinking it could be a one-​time instance with a store or service. However, this is the second time in as many visits where we have incurred added expenses from our dog getting sick from B&B’s facility. The first time was last year in April; our dog stayed for 10 days while we were traveling overseas, and when we picked her up she was very dirty and rashing started appearing on her belly. This ended up turning into a infection, which ended up requiring antibiotics and costing a hefty amount at the vet. We did not complain, mainly because we did not opt for a grooming before picking her up. Although I have to say I am surprised that when a dog staying with them for that long wouldn’t get at least some minimal kind of cleaning. To return a dog in a filthy condition is a little disconcerning.
Regardless, this time was different. We were away for half the time (5 days), and although she was dirty again, thankfully there was no rashes. However, our dog was very lethargic and ended up contracting a cold/​flu (fwiw, she was caught up with all her shots). We took her to a local vet, and they confirmed she was sick — with borderline pneumonia. I have 2 emails from our vet to verify. More than any other breed, this is bad for ours, since she is a Frenchy.
I wrote an email to the manager at this facility for two reasons — for one, I am certain the other dog (s) that passed this onto our dog may still have been in their facility and/​or can infect other dogs. Secondly, I did not feel it is right for us to once again pay exorbitant vet fees after another stay with B&B. The Biscuits & Bath cost was $ 443 for the 5 days; yet, the subsequent vet fees were $ 1200 (not to mention additional meds, costing another $ 77). I felt that I simply could not in good faith feel comfortable paying for her stay when each time she returns, she ends up with an infection and/​or sick.
End result, after waiting almost a week to get a response, and then a few days of back-​and-​forth? «Sorry, there’s nothing we can do». That was it. Sorry.
I really believe your experience at B&B really depends on the specific location (and no surprise that this one has a lower average than others given the hard line the manager was giving). My family and I travel somewhat often, and when thinking of a kennel to board our dog, B&B will now be the last place we would use. A shame since they had an opportunity to save a customer; now, I have no problem telling as many people as possible of my poor experience.
I have no issue paying more for a quality experience — and trust me, B&B is not the cheapest place in the city — however providing a cleaner facility (that should be expected, and at a MINIMUM), and perhaps include basic cleaning before you pick up your dog are not unreasonable requests. Seriously — would it crush a kennel to take 5 minutes to simply wash down a dog? I’m not asking for a $ 100 full-​blown grooming… however, it is terrible to receive your dog back in extremely dirty/​smelly condition. If the dog has urine on her, do you not do anything? These conditions only act as a catalyst to pets coming back sick more than what would be expected.

Warning B&B boarding can be unhealthy for your dog.
My dog was returned to me today with an obvious problem with his right eye. Shocking of course, if you consider for five days we received nothing but glowing reports of his happiness and good health.
Had him washed and groomed prior to being dropped off, and no one noticed his eye, which took us all of a second to see something was wrong.
Took him to the vet, conjunctivitis and a scratched cornea.
Cannot get anyone of any importance or authority on the phone. 3 hours now no call back.
Do not board your dog. The reports are useless. I do not believe anyone actually is checking on your dog.

Marianne W.‘s photo of the adorable pup looking out the window is actually my dog, Heidi. And trust me, there’s no «Help!» in that face. She LOVES Biscuits and Bath. The minute we turn onto First Avenue, she pulls the leash like all-​get-​out. She has some separation anxiety and the first few times I dropped her off, she cried and whined. Now she doesn’t even look back at me as she trots off with one of the fantastic employees. Their customer service is top notch and the folks who work there really get to know your dog — even if, like me, you don’t use the daycare service every day. They offer a wide array of fantastic packages that are really affordable compared to other day cares in the neighborhood. We also attend the puppy playgroup run by Chandra, who is amazing. I can’t recommend Biscuits and Bath UES enough! Thank you guys!

Beautiful clean operation. Caring staff. A very handy place to leave your pet for a few hours while you go to lunch with friends or run errands. Everyone talks about the convenience. Everyone I have heard speak of it expressed their satisfaction with Biscuits and Bath at this location.

Their grooming was way expensive and petco on 86^th did a better job bathing her for less money. Also she went to daycare one day and came home with kennel cough two days later. I really want to like this place but bang for buck I think you can find something better.

This place is a joke! I took a dog there to have an anal expression because she was experiencing some discomfort and was doing the butt rub all the time. It was THEIR suggestion that I have this done. So I did and my dog has not been the same since. She has been experiencing constant anal leakage! Also, when I got my dog back the leash wreaked of urine smell! What happened there???

Egad. We sent our dog here for a few week over the Christmas holidays and thought everything was okay. We tried again last week and our dog got a very bad bite/​puncture wound. The B&B staff don’t know when it happened, didn’t see it, don’t know who did it, and won’t review the video footage to help our vet answer questions about the wound. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars in vet bills, had to take time off from work, and the B&B staff have been totally unhelpful throughout it all. Never sending her again!

I recently rescued a shelter dog I named her LUCY. This doggie must have been terribly knotted when found and was not treated very well by the groomer. She now has this terrible fear of a brush or anything near her coat & face and becomes very aggressive. I tried one groomer and it was a complete failure and the groomer complained.
I then tried B&B and she was difficult, at first, but the groomer and staff were so sweet that they also send me a video of her playing with the other dogs to assure me of her. They had their hands full grooming this little puppy but, she came out looking FANTASTIC! Even when she was difficult, the staff was professional enough not to say one bad thing about my dog. They also assured me that she will eventually feel comfortable being groomed. Now thats professional.
I will always use them and feel they are a great all around service.

My dog often goes here for grooming and vet visits. It seems a bit pricey, but we’ve always had a good experience. It’s so convenient to drop your pup for a few hours and come back to a clean, happy dog, who’s all caught up on shots with a good bill of health.

Review is reflective of grooming services only. Will not use again.
Took my 7-​month old puppy here for some light grooming. He’s still growing out his full coat, and with winter coming we didn’t want a haircut.
The ask was: bath, sanitary groom (rear end and privates), teeth cleaning, ear cleaning, gland expression, nail trim, and trim between his paw pads.
1) When I went to pick him up he came sprinting over and hid between my legs. He never does this, but he also doesn’t like baths, so standing up in the bathing noose was probably not his idea of a fun Saturday afternoon. Minor, probably nothing.
2) B&B advertises a 20% discount for puppies under 8 months. Apparently the nail trim, ear cleaning, gland expression, and teeth cleaning are «spa services» and not subject to the discount. Fine, that’s probably written somewhere, although it would have been nice if a human made sure I understood up front.
3) When I got him home we noticed his paws hadn’t been trimmed. This is a big deal, especially for city dogs, as all kinds of things can get stuck in the fur between their toes, and hair covering the pads makes them slide on wood floors.
4) We looked in his ears and they hadn’t been cleaned. We spend a few minutes cleaning his ears and swear this place off.
To be fair he was bathed, sanitary and nails trimmed, and teeth cleaned.
There are a variety of other little things I excused at the time but in retrospect it just makes the place feel sloppy.
— I wasn’t presented with detailed charges until after my card had been run, and when I asked for a receipt it was obviously a production to print out. This feels like the kind of place where you leave a card on file and just pay whatever they want to charge you.
— We listed out what we wanted done to the groomer, but she didn’t indicate that she understood all of them. Clearly she missed/​forgot several.
— The invoice didn’t list the sanitary trim, although it was performed, didn’t list the pad trim, which wasn’t performed, and did list the ear cleaning, which wasn’t performed.
— The front desk staff wasn’t engaged at all, other than to call the groomer and run my card.
This may be a lovely doggie day care/​spa/​etc. I saw several other customers bring in their dogs for day care greeted by name. My guess is the groomer is an independent contractor and is probably a push on profitability for the brick and mortar operation.
I won’t be bringing my dog back here for grooming and will not recommend them to others for grooming either.

If you’re an over anxious dog owner like I am (miss your dog hours after dropping him/​her off; call to make sure your dog is okay only 3 hours after dropping him/​her off) & other overbearing neurotic behavior. Biscuits and Bath completely puts your mind at ease.
I used the UES side location and they called me, left me voicemails and emails while I was on vacation letting me know daily updates on my dog. They even called me way after business hours (they were busy when I originally called) to let me know how he’s been doing. They are so amazing and truly give your dog attention. Bring your dog here. I work in customer service and I know what it is to go above & beyond. And biscuits and bath sure exceeds what they are supposed to do. 5 stars all around !

Like many people who have or is still using Biscuits and Bath (BB), I used to really love this place. The people are «friendly», the place looks good and my dog gets to socialize with other pets while I’m at work. It wasn’t too long for me to figure out that behind the smiles and cute talk, there is a company that negligent of their duties and takes advantage of the love of New Yorkers for their pets.
First of all, they don’t do enough to protect the animals from contagious diseases.
During the two months that my dog was there, he was constantly ill with intestinal infections. While there are required immunizations, they were very lax about their requirements and often let my dog in even without the necessary documentations. Even after my dog was sick with infections, there were never any requirements for me to provide a note from the vet declaring him safe for other dogs to interact with. It was the I realized that other dogs at the center with contagious diseases. It was only when my vet vehemently advised against going to BB that my dog started to get better. Almost right away, he started gaining wait and all his symptoms went away. It’s been a year. He used to be constantly sick. Since taking him out of BB, he hasn’t been sick once!
Secondly, BB’s greatest interest is in taking your money. If you don’t believe me, just see how much they charge for giving your dog a bath. When my dog got sick, they insisted that I pay for a whole month of boarding, even though he only attending the first 2 days of the month. After I reported them to the better business bureau, they told me they wouldn’t go after me for the month’s boarding fee. A couple of months later they charged 200 dollars for two days of boarding without my consent… that’s disgusting.
Like may busy New Yorkers, with pets, I though that Biscuits and Bath offered a value service by caring for my pet while I was busy taking care of others (I’m a surgeon). It was overpriced, but I want to do what was best for my pet. I soon realized that they are even more overpriced than I originally thought, their supervision (and perhaps treatment) of the animals are negligent and their business practices are unethical. I wish they would do an expose on this business. I bet they would find things that would keep their most loyal customers away.
Biscuits and Bath — shame on you.

Pros
If you enjoy having to lie to your clients, holding dogs in unsanitary and dangerous conditions, and working 60 hours a week without as little as a pat on the back, definitely apply here. Also, if you like having a new team every 6 months because turnover is through the roof due to severe employee dissatisfaction, WORK HERE!
Cons
This company just negligently murdered a 4lb yorkie on Sunday October 13^th, 2013. He was tied by his neck to the seat of the van and the driver left him alone for an unknown period of time as per proper Biscuits and Bath Transportation procedure. When the driver got back he found the dog strangled to death, hung by his neck. The company refuses to pay for an assistant driver to actually make transporting dogs safe and in two days has managed to keep the morning client quiet and keep the story out of the news. Well it’s getting into the news now!
Advice to Management
Quit and go into business in an industry that doesn’t require you to care for anything living.

While I appreciate the gesture of your reaching out, doing so six months after the fact and suggesting the initial problem was a «lack of communication» is discouraging at best (and disingenuous at worst). Need I repeat myself, the principal issue was an unprofessional dog walker who not only mistreated my dog but also did not walk him for the time I paid for. The subsequent lack of follow-​through (that I didn’t ask for but was promised) when I reported this to your company just adds insult to injury. The only conclusion I can draw from this experience is that Biscuits and Bath pays lip service to quality control, if only to keep unsuspecting people coming in the door.
As for your invitation to discuss this further, I respectfully decline. The right time and opportunity to talk was when I called last year. I sincerely hope for the sake of your customers (two and four-​legged) that Biscuits & Bath has installed more rigorous quality controls for caretakers, walkers and receptionists. Finally, to clarify for you and for anyone who reads this review, you did not find a «Yui S.» in your records because Yui is my nickname. I used my full first name when I registered with your company because it appears on my ID and my credit cards (the same way someone who goes by John would register as Jonathan). Best of luck.

A friend needed me to pick up her dog at the last minute when she got stuck on a train. She told me to ask for her dog and have them call her to confirm that I was allowed to pick her up. I got there, said I was there to pick up Doggy McFriendsname, and they said «Right away, no problem.» They handed me my friend’s dog, said «Thanks, Ms McFriendsname, we’ll put it on your card!» and let me leave. They never checked my id or asked who I was! Anyone could just walk in and ask for someone else’s dog. It was also the middle of winter and they forgot to give me the dog’s sweater. She always has a sweater, so I asked and they just said there wasn’t one! The poor puppy was so cold on the way home and they kept her sweater.
I’ve also frequently seen their dogwalkers sitting down and tying their dogs to benches instead of actually walking them like they’re being paid to do.
Don’t trust them!

My Bronx Shepard/​Pit mix rescue can be a bit of a handful and at almost 50lbs as a puppy, she was all over the place (and still is usually). Each morning the staff is so nice and everyone knows her name! She is so excited to go back on on T/​TH and I am always left a note when she is walked the remaining days of the week. B&B’s staff always call if they have any questions or there is a change in schedule and I appreciate their organization.
We usually run in the park along East End in the evenings and I always see one of the guys walking a «day care classmate» of Elly’s and he is SO nice and kind. They do their job and they do it well.

If you’re looking to send your pup to the Ritz while you’re at work, this is the place! You can get dog grooming, training, day care, walking, adoption, you name it B&B offers it. With 24 hr care, B&B is a fantastic place to leave your small, large or old dog. There is a giant play facility with open windows so the dogs experience natural sunlight as well as the stimulation of people passing by. There is a boarding area in the back where the dogs are fed and kenneled overnight. The kennels are «open-​roof» and glass-​doored so the animals are not enclosed in crates (there are some covered cages for jumping dogs). The staff is extremely professional (almost to a fault that they sometimes come off as robotic) and care about providing consistent service to the dogs at the facility.
Within the last year and a half the UES B&B location underwent a large turnover to increase the service provided to both the dogs and the owners. The transition was rocky at first, but I think ultimately weeded out those handlers, front desk staff and walkers who didn’t have the dogs’ best interests at heart to provide exceptional care to the dogs. I think this has greatly improved the value of the service and almost (almost) justifies the asininely expensive fees you will pay to have your dog cared for. Johnny, the CEO, has the largest heart for our four-​legged friends and will stop at nothing to make sure you see that the minute you start your descent down the B&B ramp. He has done his best to build a staff with those who feel the same way. He frequents each location throughout the day to monitor the facilities as well as sends «mystery customers» to ensure that in his absence the service doesn’t falter.
Be prepared that each location is operated by a different site manager and Day Care Supervisor and while services handled one way at one location may be done differently at others or not available at all (be it due to size, staffing or visibility to the public). Do your research before choosing a location.
Overall, Biscuits and Bath surpasses all NYC companies for exceptional doggie day care and is definitely a great place for your fur-​baby to make some friends and use up his/​her energy.

These times are almost exact. I have my phone log to prove it.
I’ve taken both my dogs to play groups at the Murray Hill b&b location and was pretty happy with everything. My normal groomer cancelled on my last minute so I decided to call b&b to try out their grooming services. I was VERY pleased that they could fit me in the same day I called — even stating that the UES location was ‘very open’ in terms of availability. Note it was a Sunday, many places were either closed, had no availability, or didn’t have a groomer on Sunday. I picked 11:30 am for my appt. time (I called them at 9:50 am). So far so good…
I brought my dog in at 11:30 am as scheduled. Met the groomer and told her what cut I wanted. I asked the front desk person approx. how long, he said about 2 – 3 hours. Normal. I left and did my errands. About 2:35 pm I get a call saying my dog wouldn’t be ready until for about another hour (3:30−3:35 pm). Okay that was fine with me and I’m glad they called to tell me. An hour later I show up (3:30 pm)…only to hear my dog STILL wasn’t ready. I was completely frustrated at this point because I didn’t live nearby and my dog had been with the groomers for 4 hours at this point. I decided to wait here until he was finished. I asked if the groomer had other dogs to groom that day… SHE DID NOT. MY DOG WAS THE ONLY DOG SHE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR… RIDICULOUS!
I waited around for about 30 minutes. Finally my dog was done (4:00 pm)…and the grooming, while not horrific, was pretty bad. The legs were not rounded and pretty, the hair was longer than I wanted. The face/​head area were uneven. Not what I requested or wanted at all. The groomer asked me how I liked it, I thought it was too long. She said she could fix it but I was very unhappy at that point and wanted to just go home so I said no. When I got home, my bf even said the dog barely looked groomed… and the fact that I paid $ 87.10 for half-​assed job made me even more unhappy (I usually pay $ 65+tax+tip). If my dog came out looking pristine, I’d be a little happier… but of course that was not the case.

Despite all this, I must give Biscuits & Bath SOME credit (esp. Andreas). I was first offered reward points to use on future services with B&B…but I told him I wouldn’t bring my dog (s) back here again so I didn’t really care for reward points. He later asked how I felt about my dog’s grooming. I restated that I was extremely unhappy. We later spoke on the phone to try to resolve the issue. I was able to bring my dog back in so that another groomer could fix him up for free. But because I work until 5 pm everyday and the groomers usually finish at 5 pm, I was told I could bring my dog in the morning to get fixed up and he could stay there for an entire day for daycare while I worked (free of charge).
The other groomer fixed my dog up and was great so I don’t necessarily thing the UES Biscuits & Bath deserve 1 star. It seemed like an isolated incident that was nicely resolved. Andreas worked with me to resolve this issue and I was satisfied with the ending. Personally I am still hesitant to bring my dog back… just to avoid the slightest chance of this thing happening again.
IF you still decide to come have your dog groomed here, I would stay away from the groomer on Sunday (I don’t know her name). Ask for Zuley, she fixed my dog as best as she could. If you need a recommendation for a reliable, experienced, affordable groomer, feel free to message me!
