Bike the Big Apple Tours

Loved it! They responded to my emails quickly and agreed to do the tour I requested even with only one other person signed up. Our guide Marc was totally accommodating, friendly, and so knowledgeable. I was a bit nervous about riding in the city but I was rid of my concerns once we got going and I saw how experienced Marc was. I did Tour D, which was not difficult and took us all around Manhattan and through Brooklyn. It was fun and interesting to learn new things about the city. Much more enjoyable than any bus or walking tour I’ve done. It was just what I was looking for and I highly recommend it to any tourists who like to bike!

Fantastic bike tour! We (my husband, myself, and our 17 year old daughter) did the Tuesday «D» tour — Secret Streets, which took us around Manhattan and into part of Brooklyn. We crossed both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges and stopped in Chinatown for lunch at a great noodle place. Our guide Marc was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. We didn’t feel at all unsafe riding on the NY city streets. Many of the streets have bike lanes and much of the tour takes place on quieter streets. The pace of the tour was moderate. We were provided with bikes, helmets and a bottle of water. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

There are many ways to experience NYC: boat, bus, walking, from a tall building, horse carriage, but why not from a BIKE?
This is an awesome bike tour and a great but different way to experience NYC. We took the Dutch Roots tour. Lots of facts and stories; learned a lot and appreciate this great city even more. The trip was overall easy and leisurely with a few hills which I walked my bike up those, there was no pressure. There are many stops where Marc our guide would tell us many different stories and historical tidbits. We saw north of Harlem and the Bronx, picturesque woods, ate at a Dominican Republic restaurant for lunch, saw Little Italy in the Bronx, so much fun! Our tour guide Marc was awesome, funny, and caring. There was another tour guide (I think Chris) who always rode in the back to make sure none of us got lost or left behind. We saw things on this tour that we would never have seen any other way. They fitted us for bikes and helmets and provided waters, bikes were fine. We felt safe at all times.
When we return to NYC, we will definitely do this again. Don’t miss out!

We are tourists in New York for the very first time and chose bike the Big Apple tour evening tour so we could see some of the sites by bike. We arrived and were greeted by a very friendly staff who seemed very happy and eager to kick us out on tour. They fitted us with bicycles and helmets, introduced us to the other riders, and we met our guides Mark and Rasheed? My partner is a former Olympic track cyclist and I am quite an experienced cyclist so we were a bit concerned the tour may be too slow or the that other riders would not be able to ride. Our fears were quickly put aside as it turned out all 8 in our group were quite capable. Mark led us expertly through the neighborhoods of Southern Manhattan with a wonderful sense of humor and great insights into the history and traditions of the many locations. Highlights were, Greenwich village, Washington Park, the Stonewall, ⁹⁄₁₁ memorial and most incredibly the city skyline from the Brooklyn Bridge. The tour lasted 4.5 hours but never lagged. Mark and Rasheed were excellent riders and we felt safe at all times. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys cycling and guided tours. My brother and I did the Bronx Tour yesterday (6÷25÷15). Marc was our guide and Rashid was the sweeper. I cannot tell you in words how awesome it was, you just have to experience it for yourself. At first, I was surprised that we would ride in the streets with all the vehicle traffic… never would I have the nerve to do that on my own. But after only a few minutes and with the guidance of Marc, I felt so comfortable! Marc is such an asset to this company. I wish that I had the opportunity to take additional tours while visiting NYC. Several of the other guests on our tour have done other tours with Bike The Big Apple and they had nothing but rave reviews for those as well. There would have been no way to cover so much ground and experience the Bronx in such an authentic, intimate manor, other than by bike, and what better way than with a knowledgable guide with the personality of a teddy bear? We did tour C which covers the East side of Central Park, passes by the Apollo, Columbia university, covers a great park of Harlem and the. Finishes with a ride through the west side of Central Park. Our tour guides Richard and Dahlia are from New York and they knew a TON about the city and gave us a bunch of really fun and interesting facts about the city. This tour was well worth the price and we are already trying to fit another tour in schedule before we leave. For those of you worried about the distance, don’t worry, because there are frequent stops and most of the terrain is really flat. All their tour guides are certified and very professional. We loved every minute. Thank you Richard and Dahlia! We will be back!

Bike the Big Apple offers a wide array of unique, fun, safe and educational bike tours. I have done three tours with them over the past five years and loved them all, especially the «Bronx» and «Dutch Roots». Their guides are engaging, passionate, funny, organized and attentive. The value for the money is great and a bike tour is a great way to see and learn about the city. As a native New Yorker I learned and was reminded of so much about my city. Biking in NYC can be intimidating but the guides do an amazing job of teaching customers how to bike safely as a group and not once did anyone on the tours have any safety issues come up. You will end the tour feeling like you got a relaxing workout, a great view of the city, a lot of information, having met locals and tourists, and that it was worth every penny.

This is a really fun way to see a side of New York you won’t ordinarily see. It’s easy biking, by the way…
Our guides name was Mark, who was terrific by the way. Funny, informative and if you like New York and like biking, I strongly recommend it.

We love bike tours when we travel, but on the day we were free their only tour was of the Bronx. We knew nothing about this borough so we gave it a try!
Well, our guide Mark (one of the co-​owners) was very knowledgable, funny and passionate about his city. We spent the day learning the area’s history, having many good laughs and enjoying getting to know our fellow cyclists (on our tour from all over Europe).
You will see New York in an entirely new light after this bike tour! Give them a try!

I took the Secret Streets tour last week with Johannes and Erin. They were a great team. They kept the group safe, together and judged the speed of the bikers very well. Johannes was a super guide, quite knowledgeable and informative. This tour took us through a few side/​off streets that were small and less traveled. It was a nice to be among some secret, more quiet havens, within the city. Well done BtBA.

My family was a bit upset when they heard that I had booked a bike tour, but after we met up with Marc and got suited up… WOW what a great time!!! We learned so much about the city and since it was just us 4 for the tour, Marc asked what we wanted to see and took us on a custom tour!!! My two 17 year old daughters kept Marc on his toes and he handled it perfectly, I will remember this tour more than any of the other attractions we did.

An outstanding bicycle tour of Central Park and Harlem, made so by the pleasant and knowledgable young guide, Jesse McDonough. The bikes weren’t great, but this was a leisurely ride, so nothing fancy needed. There’s no better way to see the City than by bike. Great experience.

The tour guides were knowledgeable and very interesting. We signed up for three in one week and felt they were worth the investment of time and money. Its a great way to see parts of NYC, talk to other cyclists from many parts of the world and get in a little exercise as well! Loved it.

I did the Brooklyn tour earlier today.
Just one word to describe it — AWESOME!
Guide was fun, interesting, engaged, personable, knowledgeable and concerned with our wellbeing, safety and enjoyment.

I’m a South African living in San Diego. I was part of the tour on Sunday night 6/​6, with Pat and Adam as our guides. I wanted to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the incredible experience. I must say, this tour was booked as a surprise for me, and I was terrified at first. I tried everything to get out of it, but I am SO HAPPY I went on it. Pat was an awesome guide, and taught me so much about New York, and Adam was lovely, staying at the back with me whilst everybody else powered ahead and I was huffing and puffing! New York at sunset is breathtaking!
I also wanted to say thanks, Adam for your great recommendations on places to eat in the Upper West Side. We went to Alice’s Teacup for brunch, and it was so quaint and wonderful.
I returned to San Diego yesterday and am already missing that wonderful city. I will definitely recommend ‘Bike The Big Apple’ to everybody I know!

My husband and I toured the Big Apple with Bike the Big Apple tour company. We had a terrific time. This is a unique and fun way to see the city. We saw areas we would not have seen had we not been on a bike. Also, the tour guide was filled with great information (including dinner recommendations for restaurants in the area). We will definitely take a bike ride with this company again on our next visit to NYC!

As part of the inaugural Friday Night Lights Tour (6pm — Midnight), our tour guide, Levi, was incredible! Levi took us from the East Village through China Town and Little Italy, the Financial District, up to the Brooklyn Bridge, across to the Hudson River and up to Highline Park in Chelsea where we stopped from some snacks and hot beverage, then off again up through Hell’s Kitchen and into Times Square before heading back into the East Village. Levi was full of facts and information about the various neighborhoods, buildings, and history.
Biking through NYC is an amazing way to see, feel, and be swept into the movement of the city. I highly recommend this tour and can’t wait to go back for another! Thanks Levi!

We did the Friday Night Lights Tour in April which explores Manhattan from 6pm to midnight cruising most of the villages in lower Manhattan and ending with a cruise through Times Square. Our tour guide was super friendly and because we were a small group was able to tailor our tour to stop by some places we asked about. He served killer snacks, was well informed to answer all our questions and even recommended some great restaurants in the area after the tour. I highly recommend them and can’t wait to check out some of their other tours.

This bike tour is a «MUST DO» for all people, not just tourists. The tour guides are young, personable, and very knowledgeable. They take you to spots you would never see on any other tour, and offer interesting historical facts that most NYC residents (my friend included) wouldn’t know about. When I went the weather was a blistery 40 degrees with strong winds, but it was still the best thing I did on my visit. They even had some gloves for underprepared travelers like myself. I did this by myself since my friend was working, and these guys make sure you have a good time. Highly recommended!
