Consistent Kosher deli comfort food — Matzo ball soup and knishes, roast beef and pastrami sandwiches, pickles and cole slaw. A great spot for lunch in Midtown if you’re in the mood for a hearty sandwich/​soup combo.

Great service, simple tasty deli food and very large portions. Love the complimentary pickles and cole slaw and my bowl of matzo ball soup was huge! Menu has something for everyone.
This was my first time eating at a true kosher deli so it took me a minute to realize there was no cheese options to add to sandwiches burgers etc, doh!

Chicken noodle soup was very good. It was made from real chicken stock. It was hot on a nice cold day. Had the French fries that were cut from real potatoes, they were great. The overstuffed corned beef sandwich wad awesome, they pickle it themselves. The open face turkey sandwich was very good. Real turkey, mashed potatoes was good as well.

We just had our sons Bris here last night and I can’t say enough good things about the restaurant, the private space, and David the event coordinator. I was having the hardest time finding an appropriate place to hold the event. Most rooms were VERY expensive to rent or would not accommodate us at all. We luckily found Ben’s Deli and David made everything so easy. In addition it was the perfect food for an early evening Bris. Add to that the reasonable pricing and no extra charge for the private space and you have the best of everything. Many thanks to David and the staff at Ben’s.

We went for lunch for pastrami and corned beef on rye. Both sandwiches had indigestible gristle and fat. Big disappointment especially after going to Katz Deli last week. Have to say this is the worse deli in NYC I’ve been to. You can do better elsewhere for sure!

Loved this traditional NY deli experience — even better than I remember from childhood of coming to NYC with daddy! Enjoyed every drop of matzo ball soup and every bite of hot pastrami on rye. Yum! I’ll be back for sure. Service was fast and thorough too.

Just finished lunch here with the boss. It was a perfect spot for lunch in the area (midtown west). I had the bowl of matzo ball soup with half a turkey sandwich and my boss had kasha varnishka (kasha with bow tie pasta)! We also had a side of fries. It was perfect!

I came across this place randomly because it was open and I didn’t have to make reservations. The food here is kosher.
They gave coleslaw and pickles as starts like how other restaurants give bread as starters. At first I was interesting to be given that as starters. The coleslaw was really good and the pickles were sour (I’m not really a pickles person).
This is my first time at a Jewish deli/​restaurant and it was good. I had the the stake burger supreme and I like it. The bun was nice and toasted, the burger was we’ll find juicy and the fries were potato wedges delicious.
All in all, this place is great for family (with kids also) and friends to have a nice dine out.
Random fact: The art work on the ceiling is pretty.

Passed by this place accidentally, I think the chicken pot that I ordered is pretty good, but it is way too much for one person, although I know that I can wrap it back home, I still think it would be a better choice to let them provide a smaller version for one person…
By the way, the noodles in the pot is not enough for me…
Lastly, I really like the waiter’s service, which is full of patience and efficiency.
An extra thing that I would like to mention is that a cycling club was having there annual dinner next to me, which is really interesting to me, and the people’s passion and optimism for life really inspired me, although it was raining outside, that night (Dec/​16/​2015) was wonderful for me.

Ben’s gave me a real appreciation for hot pastrami sandwiches! The roast beef with dressing is very good, too. Solid choice for a work day lunch and accommodates a small group easily. We go the potato pancakes, fresh pickles & slaw– by the time that’s done I’m usually splitting the sandwich with someone.

Best chicken noodle soup /​matzo balls — 5 stars for that but can’t speak to other things. Get takeout it’s hectic in the restaurant.

We were looking for a place for dinner the other night near our hotel, hadn’t had a good deli meal in NYC yet, so decided to try Ben’s. It was wonderful!
The pickles arrived along with coleslaw, all we could eat which is a good thing since my wife loves pickles. Our waiter was extremely cordial, polite and helpful — couldn’t ask for better service.
I had a double-​meat sandwich, chopped liver and pastrami. Both meats were excellent, the chopped liver came in copious quantities, the pastrami was more modest. My companions had soup and other sandwiches.
Considering the location, the prices were very reasonable, service was fast, we left stuffed and happy. I’d go back any day if I was in the neighborhood.
Our only grips was no cheesecake for dessert since it is a kosher restaurant.

Has all the pieces and one of the best waiters we have had in a while. Sam loves his job and it shows. Really refreshing. I had the stuffed cabbage and matzah ball soup. Both were very good albeit the sauce was a touch on the sweet side for me. Others had the corned beef (sampled and outstanding) and the turkey plate. Turkey was a little dry on its own but was served with gravy. I would come back. $ 100 for four for lunch including a 20% tip.

Just great service (my glass was never empty of iced tea. Extra lemons? Lots.)
But the pastrami? Don’t care if its touristy here. Its perfect.

It isn’t the best Jewish deli and it is far from the worst right in the middle, I am not a fan of this type of deli food so it could just be me. Very reasonable prices for NYC. A friend and I ate here with tip for about $ 40 total. It’s a pretty big place and they do deals for groups. People come here by the bus load. Large back dinning room to handle large tables. I watched our waiter handle a group of 15 and he was very systematic and time efficient to get everyone fed for the theater. The staff is so friendly and some are rather entertaining. The place is clean and they give you plenty of pickles, which is so important, totally my weakness! Ive been here twice. I gave the place 3 stars b/​c the first time I was here my grilled chicken was so over cooked like leather, Yes I should have said something! Second time was a better experience and hopefully third will be also.
Third experience was so so… as I got a veggie omelet and it wasn’t very good… they put carrots in it… I’m not a fan, but my friend really loves this place and that is why we keep going back.

In the lunch time, many people visit here in order to eat pastrami sandwich and matzo ball!
This is a real kosher’ restaurant. If you wanna try authentic kosher food, try this place!

Disappointment…
First lunch in NYC– the restaurant was ²⁄₃ empty yet we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated then another 10 until waiter came over. The pastrami was mediocre and fatty, beer choice poor, service lacking and the patrons were par for teh course– as odd as this place is.
Best part was the coleslaw and pickles.
Try better places if you crave NYC style deli.

That said the food itself was decent. The pastrami sandwich was tasty and flavorful, though honestly I was expecting a bigger sandwich in light of the price. The chicken rice soup was pretty solid. I needed something to get over a mild cold and this soup definitely hit the spot.
My thinking is — the next time I give them a try, I’ll do it via takeout or dine in. The delivery took a bit too long for my comfort so I’ll be better off trying the other two options instead.

Came here with my co-​workers for a going away celebration. It was my first time being here. Before going, i looked at their menu and realized that their specialty was in their sandwiches and their matzo ball soup.
Almost everyone on my team ordered the pastrami on rye with a matzo ball soup. They all loved it. For me and one other, we ordered differently. She got the corned beef sandwich and a potato pancake w a matzo ball soup and i got… yes…a hamburger. I’m not a pastrami lover… but did get to try a piece. It was very good when you added mustard to it. Otherwise it would have been dry!
I ordered the burger supreme. It was pretty good. The fries were huge. Dont think i’d call them fries. It was just potato wedges. Nonetheless… it was awesome! The potato pancake was made well. It was krispy and served with a smidge of apple sauce. Really good.
Mind you, the portions for each dish is huge! Everyone got to share with one another. I got to try their onion rings… those were great! I also never had kasha varnishka before… but enjoyed it for the first time. They have 3 different kinds of pickles as an app when you’re just sitting there figuring out what you want to order. One was salty, one tasted like a cucumber, and one was sour. They were all good, but my fave was the cole slaw. Made just right.
I definitely want to give this place another try and have their specialty dishes. I do recommend this place to others.

Le restaurant typique casher new yorkais, à base de cornichons gigantesques, et surtout de sandwich au corned beef qui sont caloriques mais tellement bons.
A accompagner avec un cherry coke.
Les prix sont très abordables.
Si vous êtes du côté de Long Island essayez plutôt ce restaurant qui est plus calme et moins cher (oui les prix sont plus élevés à Manhattan).
En tout cas c’est une bonne adresse pour une pause déjeuner.

Un petit resto ou l’on se sent bien et ou l’on mange plutôt pas mal. Les sandwichs casher au boeuf fumé sur du pain de seigle, sauce épicée ou a votre convenance vous laisseront une envie de reviens-​y.
