Having over 30 years experience in gem and jewelry, having grown up in Sri Lanka where I am from started learning more about gem mining and eventually open up my own store down in sri lanka, moved to the us in 2000 and have expanded our business into trade shows and now our online store at barygems​.com

In A town of Galle Fort, in Sri Lanka. When I had left High School as I had a real liking for the Natural gemstones I was in search of Rough Gems that I would Buy from the Mining areas of Sri Lanka, and get them cut with Traditional gem cutting and polishing at the entrance of my parents’ house, where it was facing the (Road Light House Street) it soon took the attention of the, Tourists who would walk around to see the 72 Ancestral Dutch Fort. For Guest who visited, I had to explain the nature of the Rough Gemstones and they also was curious to see the ones, that have been cut and polished and was able to make a sales, and Bary And Company was started in December of 1980, as the first Tourist Shop in a residential Galle Fort, by putting few show Windows along with the traditional gem cutting and jewelry Making. Today you will find All the Leading gem And Jewellery show rooms in side Galle fort.
