Bartender Boot Camp

I will be calling the Attorney General. This place shut down suddenly and there is also now no access to the free job-​bank «for life.» My gut, as an attorney, is that if they were purchased by the other firm, that firm may also have to live up to the expectations sold as part of the Bartender Boot Camp.
Also, despite the certificate on the wall at their old headquarters on 7^th avenue, THEY WERE NOT AND NEVER WERE accredited with the Better Business Bureau.

So I have to update… there is no longer a bartending Bootcamp another «company» took it over! So if your like me and attending prior to whe ever this happened there is no free life time unlimited refresher course and u will b hanged up on.
I don’t understand because the website is still up and so is the phone number. highly disappointed

Great experience. Left with an arsenal of skills. How will I use them? … For good or for evil? … Only time will tell.

I purchased the LivingSocial deal and just finished my class last night. Zoey was amazing, my classmates were hilarious and fun. Zoey is thorough, she helps you out as you go along and never makes you feel silly or stupid for not remembering what the hell is in an Alabama Slammer. I like the fact that you can go back and retake classes to freshen up if need be at no charge. I highly recommend it!

Since I always like to play the bartender role at home, I figured why not give this a shot! With an amazing deal that I got off of Living Social, It came at a perfect time. I had a blast and Zoey our Instructor was AWESOME! Very thorough and this was a great learning experience.!! Thanks AGAIN and I would recommend this to all.

I had purchased this steal on Living Social for a ridiculously low price, which was fantastic since I am looking to do this for fun maybe 1 – 2 a month. It is located at a super convenient location around the corner from the Herald Square station, so you can get here easily from pretty much everywhere. Several people were commuting from Jersey and walked from Penn Station.
I partook in the 2-​day weekend evening course, as this was what fit my schedule best. I had Isaac (AKA «Ace») for the first day, and Zoey the second. Ace was funny, informative, helpful and knowledgeable. Zofia (AKA «Zoey») was kind, mellow, smart and methodical in her teaching approach. They both have helpful acronyms for learning ingredients, layouts and processes. ie «Kamikaze = (V)ery (Tr)agic (L)anding = Vodka, Triple Sec and Lime.» Or for learning the order of the speed bar (house alcohol) «(V)ery (G)ood ®eason (T)o (Tr)uly (W)ant (S)ex» = Vodka, Gin, Rum, Tequila, Triple Sec, Whiskey, Scotch. These really do help! There are also more «adult» versions. You’ll see what I mean!
The course is broken down in stages, and you will learn to make the popular drinks in (according to glass-​type) high ball, low ball, martini, collins, and margarita glasses. Drinks such as Long Island Iced Teas (they’ll even give you a short bit about how it got it’s name), lemon drop martinis, mudslides, kamikazes, mind erasers… Etc etc (you get the idea.)
They will also teach you proper methods of cutting your garnishes, and which garnishes goes with which drinks. ie Do I put an orange wedge with this drink or a half wheel? A full wheel? You’ll get it all.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to doing some part time jobs tending bar. The instructors are (again) very helpful, and want you to succeed. They will guide you through every step of the way. At the end is an intimidating drill, where you will be instructed to make a few drinks off memory — but if you miss a beat they’ll be right there to aid you. By the end of this class, you’ll be making so many fake martinis and drinks out of colored water you’ll be bar-​bound for sure! Many a’times I had to remind myself not to drink the delicious faux-​Tequila Sunrise in front of me.
If you come here you will not be disappointed — whether you are looking to do it for fun (like myself) or make it your living while going through college it is a great place to learn the trade of tending bar.
A nice touch is they have job assistance, resume assistance and you can come back any time you want for free if you need to refresh. They also make themselves available if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc.

Recently certified. I love, love, love Bartender Boot Camp!!! I am very satisfied with my overall experience. I had a knowledgeable instructor, time went by fast, and I felt I had the confidence to bartend right after having my certificate.- Virtual Cheers Zoe!!!- You kicked ass ;)
My only regret is that the bootcamp had to end.
I really enjoyed learning about how to set and organize the bar, the different drinks, the corresponding glasses and garnishes that must go with each drink, cutting fruits, role playing as both bartender and customer, and working with my team.
Also, I enjoyed how efficient everything ran. For instance, I received my living social voucher on saturday February 9^th. Sent an email the same night with my time preference and was promptly registered into monday February 11^th’s class. Next, I emailed my picture, I got my national bartender association card the next day, and my certificate at the end of my drill ;)
The class was not more than 12 students, which I think was a great strategy because everyone was able to get our instructor’s attention, and to really work as a supportive team.
Our lifetime membership comes with the opportunity to sharpen our bartending skills, to get leads on openings and to keep in touch. That was the best gift I have ever had, considering I didn’t buy my voucher ;) Thanks Sist!

I had such a great time in this class. I opted for the weekend 12 hours course and the time just flew. I had Isaac on Saturday and Zoey on Sunday; they have different teaching styles but they were both fun and got the information across. Very much so worth the money and time.

Zoe was my instructor from start to end plus having my solid 2 teammates, ForDee and Jason, for 4 consecutive nights they all really guided me all the way as my first batch of pseudo customers. Thank you so much you were all great!
I had so much fun in this class and the vibe in this area is cool and cozy (superb for learning). You will be surrounded by good and humble people who are there step by step in helping you become a confident certified bartender. Yay! I now have my certificate and ID and ready to roll! :))
Kidding aside, I originally booked my classes a week earlier 1÷28−1÷31 but happened to change it the last minute like literally ¹⁄₂₈ that day where I suppose to start, I called them and they made it so easy! I never had a hard time switching it to next week, 2÷4−2÷7, special thanks to Isaac too.
Last thing… what’s amazing with this team is the all out care and support they give to their students/​members as how they call us no matter how you got in to this thing (deal or standard). You have an unlimited option to keep trying to reach your bartending career goal to the extent that you can still comeback anytime you want: can be days, weeks, months, or even wow YEARS!:) with no charge at all and you can practice as long as there’s no class or even if there’s a class you are free to sit-​in member recalling things you’ve learned in the past. Their experiences, tips, and techniques were shared and worth knowing. Salute to everyone who are part of this boot camp and more powers to you guys.

Just an additional update/​note to my review on Bartender Boot Camp, my certificate conveniently arrived in the mail within a few days of completing class, as promised by the school. It’s a certificate that does come with a seal of approval and seems more or less valid. It’s fun/​great to have for your own records. I have to say that ever since I took the class, I feel like a confident bartender every time I serve myself or guests a mixed drink. As stated before, I highly recommend to those who want to learn bartending for leisure or professional reasons.

I took a bartender certification course with this organization during December 2012. I picked up a deal through Living Social for 50% off the regular membership fee. The instructors are great and I learned alot about bartending and various types of drinks styles. You get real hands-​on experience here, not a boring class or a self-​study curriculum either. You can go for either four 3-​hour weeknight sessions or two 6-​hour weekend sessions, but once you finish the course satisfactorily you will be a member for life and can schedule to come in and practice every now and again as long as you call ahead of time. Location is great, right by Penn Station and a stone’s throw from Macy’s Herald Square. I would like to go back and practice again if I’m feeling rusty.

I found a deal for this course on LivingSocial back in September. I spent the 100 dollars, and it was well worth it.
While I already had bar experience from working at a winery tasting room (in terms of dealing with customers and moving quickly), the course and staff taught me tons about mixing drinks and proper bartending procedure.
Zoe was a phenomenal instructor. I would joke and call her «The Hawk,» because even with four people training at once, mixing drinks, she would see every single error that every student made. You can’t get away with anything there, so it really trains you to do things properly.
They also help with employment. I could hear one of the staff members making calls to bars to help students get interviews.
It really was a great experience.
The best part is, even after you finish your course, you can come back for refresher classes… FOR FREE.

I had such a good time at NAB!!, a completely satisfying experience from start to finish. Now let me tell you the tale of how I became a bartender…
I got the boot camp deal on living social (2 6 hour weekend classes our 4 3 hour classes during the week) for $ 97 and was luckily able to book a weekend class (2 days) the very next weekend. I checked back at the deal to see if my friends had purchased after I did, and saw that the amount that it purchased doubled overnight. One star for Rocco keeping a cool and calm, and very helpful tone over the phone during this madness– he was able to squeeze me in the evening class. I can’t believe how cheap this deal was, and even at full price its a steal– I have had friends pay close to a grand to get certified.
One Star for facilities. The bar space was pretty realistic, to an extent. Of course you are not going to use real liquor to practice with, there is a lot of measuring, messing up, and re-​pouring involved, and if you did it with real liquor no one would be able to afford the class. The liquids we used were pretty spot on even for juices and Baily’s. A few glasses were substituted but, when the lights were dimmed, and music went on for drills, it felt pretty real.
One Star for instructors. I had Isaac on Saturday night, and Zoe on Sunday. Both were really fun, high energy, and great instructors. You can tell they are both really good at their jobs, know a lot about customer service, the ins and outs, and of course they had really great senses of humor throughout the 6 hour course.
One Star for the «curriculum». I really liked what was offered, and they way the course worked– you watch, you practice, then you apply what you’ve learned and then you are tested alongside your classmates. It feels really chaotic and crazy but learning quickly is probably the best and most effective way to do so. NAB also offered some flashcards for about 60 different drinks for $ 5, great deal and very useful.
Last Star goes for the overall ‘tude and mindset. Everyone is treated the same, no matter how serious you are or aren’t about bar-​tending in this program, which was the best part. You are also able to come back at any later date to continue practicing which I find will be really useful for those more serious about landing gigs.
I would recommend going with friends if you can, but even if alone it is still a lot of fun. Ok I’m done now.
