Barneys Warehouse

I thought it was worth over Labor Day weekend. Purchased 2 blazers, one a Hugo Boss for $ 87.00 and the other, Rag and Bone for $ 102.00. Dress shirts are all $ 19, so I bought an Armani w/​$ 395 tag on it for that price. Got another Armani for $ 40. So, I think the Warehouse Sale is worth it even w/​a 45 minute wait on line. Most, people would team up online and take shifts to continue to shop. They’ve extended the sale until tomorrow, September 2^nd.

Came to the sale for the first time in about 10 years and boy has it changed.
This place is so disorganized it’s not even funny. We literally had to wait in line to checkout for almost an hour because the people working the cash registers were clueless and perhaps trying to create more of a frenzy by keeping the line as long as possible.
The clothes and the shoes were mostly Barney’s brand and tough to find anything more interesting.
I did end up buying some ties for $ 9 at the last day of the sale.

Got Marni Open toe booties for $ 70! Saw Louboutins at an acceptable price but they were super tiny I can’t wait for the next sale. Wasnt too excited about the clothes. Lots of scarves n wallets also something I’m not interested in but other people looked happy about those.

Be warned if you shop their clearance items online. Their descriptions are not always the best and their photographer does a great job making their clothing items look their absolute best, which is much better than it looks when you receive it. Make sure you look at every angle of all the pictures they provide. Read all the small print because their sales are final. I purchased a button down shirt, looked nice online, only to receive it and find that the front is one color and style of fabric and the back is a different color and style. It looked horrible. I tried calling them and pointing out it was hard to tell that it was like that online, and they just responded that all sales are final. In their defense, I knew all sales were final when making the purchase, but make sure you fully understand that you could easily get something that looks very different than the pictures. Even ordering custom made shirts from China provides much better customer service and similar prices to their clearance items.

This year Barneys completely changed the warehouse sale. Its ruined and a complete waste of time now.
Not only is the selection completely limited compared to what it used to be, but the prices, even on the last day are still extremely high.

Evidently I’m in the minority here — but the warehouse sale is overrated. I’ve been here twice and both times the stuff they had was junk. The shoes look like they’ve been worn to a few club outings before being sold. Most of the clothing I find in my size that is wearable, and not just to be worn for a Vogue picture spread, had tears, holes, or stains. Sizes are for the ultra tiny (ie quadruple zero) or the ultra large. btw — I’m a 0 or 2, maybe 4 or 6 in european and I still can’t find anything good in my size.
It’s a mess of people — as others have said. And a mess of clothing. I felt like both times I went there were, somehow, more tourists than locals. I cannot explain that one — doesn’t make sense at all.
I’d rather go to Off Fifth, Last Call, Bloomingdales Outlet, Nordstrom Rack, etc — you get the idea. Much more organized, better selection, new condition, and great finds.

if you don’t shop the barneys warehouse sale, what are you doing with your life?!?
first of all, sales are usually in February and end of august (i’m not sure if they still have the February sale). second, the prices are insane!
PROS
–affordable high end items!
-$ 400 marc jacobs heels for $ 50? check! $ 1000 louboutins for $ 300? check! $ 2000 mens suits for like $ 500 or less? check! (shoes may be a lil scuffed, clothes a lil wrinkled but hey! i’m not complaining!)
–mens clothes, womens clothes, shoes, kids clothes, kitchen stuff, etc.
CONS
–PACKED like sardines!!! especially the last few days when the prices reeeally drop.
–the line outside to get in is ridiculous. get here early!
–i’ve never seen handbags sold here :(
–LADIES: please wear underwear and maybe a tank and leggings. there are NO changing rooms. i’m no prude, but i’m tired of seeing naked women trying on clothes out in the open while i’m trying to shop. especially if they don’t like the item and put it back on the rack– GROSS!!!
–bag check at security. you can only take a small purse in with your money/​credit cards. NO exceptions. trust me– I’ve tried.
–clothes EVERYWHERE. on the floor, in the air, to the left and to the right.
–shoe department takes forever and a day to get your shoes. sometimes the other foot is not even there. FAIL.
this is NOT a place for kids!!! packed, stuffy and long lines.
there may be more cons than pros, the prices are so worth it!
they should have a sign outside that says, «at the barneys warehouse sale, only the strong survive!»

This is my 5^th year going and by far my best yet. This was the year of Wang.
got a pair of jeans 70 bucks. denim and suede shorts $ 40 (marked down from $ 46) and a silk parka jacket (perfect for spring) for $ 90 marked down from nearly $ 1000. I also got a «scuffed» pair of Grenson saddle shoes. (there was only one mark) for $ 19 bucks. yes. $ 19 bucks. Long live the warehouse sale.

Not as great as I had hoped it would be. As a shopoholic, I’ve been wanting to hit up the infamous Barney’s warehouse sale in NYC for as long as I can remember. I finally got a chance to shop here this year, but the women’s selection just wasn’t quite what I hoped it would be.
Yes, the magical orange tags are fantastic. I was able to score a pair of Chloe boots for less than $ 200. But still I was expecting so much more.
I’m glad I can say I’ve shopped at the Barney’s Warehouse sale, but I was definitely underwhelmed by the whole experience.

Once was great, now, not so much…
On the men’s side there are still good deals to be had on the off the rack suits, ties and belts. The shoes are not heavily discounted and you’ll find more and more of the in house brand occupying the bins and racks. The selection seems to be dwindling compared to years past. Its still worth a rummage but expect to be searching for that needle in the haystack. And as always remember that the stock is replenished through the sale with the best selection in the beginning and the heaviest discounts towards the end.

$ 100 designer tshirts for only $ 50? Now THAT’S a steal!!! I will let u decide who exactly it is getting robbed.

The more people in my life that I don’t like the better I dress. I dress pretty well these days! If my checking account in any indication, I have acquired the Closet of Monte Cristo. And yet it’s never enough. So when I popped in today for the warehouse sale I had that Radioactive song from Imagine Dragons on repeat and was all ready set go.
A couple of things:
–This sale started yesterday at 8am. A lot of people that are better at this than I am were in here grabbing up all of the good stuff before most of us were even awake.
–Clothing/​shoes are priced around $ 200+, more on the + side.
–The purses and clutches (that were left) were so inexcusably Urban Outfitters-​ish that I never bothered to check prices. That’s not an opinion, that’s a fact.
–The dressing room is the same as your average gym locker room. No separate changing stalls, just a curtain-​enclosed area with a bunch of females trying to hop into stuff that may or may not fit. Plan accordingly and wear your undies.
–Expect a lot of elbowing.
Outside of a pair of impossibly high Costume National heels I was disappointed. To be fair, I suck at these kinds of warehouse sales. Im much better at going to overpriced boutiques and paying three times as much for the exact same item, the one that was worn twice and is thus «vintage».
Don’t let this review discourage you from checking the warehouse sale out. I mean that.

I came here strictly for the warehouse sale– that is all want and need.
When Alexander Wang bags are more than 50% off, you bet your ass you set your alarm clock and schlep it to 17^th street! You may as well start coughing now so you can call out sick later because sales like this are not to be missed.
Rag and Bone jeans for 70 bucks?!! Marc Jacobs wedge booties for 120? Insanity is not to be reasoned with– you just take your clear shopping bag and politely shimmy over to the aisle of your choice and start picking.
I highly recommend leggings/​yoga pants and a fitting tank/​cami style shirt– that way you can readily slip in and out of outfits and keep it moving since there are no dressing rooms and too many people to make a space for yourself. Going with a friend is always a plus because someone can also help you take photos of your new outfit to help you really decide if it’s worth it.
Also be super polite to the staff– I can’t believe people have to be told common decency, but that is a must, respect everyone in every position that is held there from the security to the cashiers– when you are nice, they are nice and the whole thing is a good experience for all. designer discounts do not give you the right to be a designer douche.

It’s funny how HIGH the security is at these sales! After I went to get the matching pair to my shoes, one of the ladies quickly barked at me for not having the box tied up w/​rope?! What’s the point if she can’t even tie the box up bc it unraveled a minute later.

I went on what I thought was the last day of sale thinking prices may be cut a little further. Sale has now been extended thru March 4^th or something like that. Scored a pair of Converse for a friend, but had to chuckle when I saw the same pair of YSL espadrilles for $ 319 that I purchased at YSL sample sale at Metropolitan Pavilion in October for $ 50.
Always google the NYC Sample Sales Calendar. There are much better sales prices throughout the year with various designers all over New York, and in this economy every penny saved counts!

Brace yourselves for a large warehouse of designer duds with prices that range from about $ 200 to $ 1,000 plus, and that’s WITH a markdown.
It’s best to shop the warehouse sale within 2 days of it opening or else you miss the chance of owning the really prized items and shoes in your size.
Remember to dig, dig, and dig in those bins of scarves, sweaters and handbags. You never know what you’ll find. The same goes for those numerous racks. Look through each and every one of them, as different sizes can get misplaced.
They have beautiful dresses here but don’t expect the price tag to please you, it may or may not depending on how much you’re willing to spend. That just about goes for everything else in inventory. I loved browsing their home goods section, they had great decorative & contemporary pieces, but also quite expensive.
Take at least 2 hours shopping/​browsing here and you won’t leave empty handed.

Stopped by to check out what was on sale. I came about an hour after it was open and there were people, but it wasn’t too crowded. Quite nice, actually.
Once you go in, they search your bag and if it’s a large bag then you gotta hand it over (you can take out your wallet, phone, etc). Then straight in front of you are the racks of shoes as well as a small area to try them on and check them out in front of small mirrors.
Right now, the shoes are additionally marked off 25% and despite the selection being picked over a lot, I found 2 pairs of shoes that I held on to and eventually ended up purchasing.
Other than the shoes, I didn’t find anything in the clothes are home goods area so I went downstairs and waited to pay for my shoes. All sales are final so make sure you’re sure about your shoes and/​or clothing items!
The shopping visit was actually pretty low key. Not too much pushing, shoving, grabbing, etc. But then again, this was day #6 out of 12.

I over heard the guy who was at the register say that tomorrow is going to be a madhouse at 10am. Its labour day weekend! PEople gotta SHOP.
There are great bargains if you can find them among all of the clutter. I noticed most of the people were looking at the shoes.
Myself, not in dire need of shoes drifted over to the pants.
60% off the already reduced price?! Heck YES.
I ended up only buying one pair of marc by marc jacobs pants priced at $ 224 and I ended up paying $ 35 for :]

Im not sure if I will be back here again… but it was a fun thing to do wasting time before the holiday weekend !

This sale scares me and I find it to be really hit or miss. It’s not something I go out of my way to hit up, but somehow I always manage to make it here when that time of year rolls around…
I don’t like crowds. I don’t like people grabbing at things and flinging themselves over a pair of shoes. It seems like there are two options, both of which I have tried:
Option 1: Go on one of the first if not the very first day of the sale. Brave the crowds of insane shoppers. Get the best deals. Leave with bags of good stuff at good prices including a few cuts, bruises and a bad case of exhaustion that will probably last for three days. You won’t go shopping for quite a while after this.
Option 2: Go in the middle or on one of the last days of the sale. Maybe get something good, maybe not. Be frustrated that all the good stuff is gone and all that’s left is a pair of Prada shoes with a heel that should be in a museum in colors that are too bright to wear anywhere civilized. Oh and did I mention its a size 11? If you go later, the crowds are smaller, even on weekends, yet still busy enough to be annoying. I have found items when I go with this option, but I usually don’t think it’s worth it and I end up buying something just because «it’s a good deal» That’s never smart.
The bottom line is, the Warehouse Sale has great steals. They do. There is no questioning that. The crowds are horrific. People will literally trample you if you are not careful. Hell, even when you are careful, you still might get stepped on. The sizes are all over the place. I never know if they will have anything that fits me. Some years they do, some years they don’t. It’s frustrating.
The only thing that I absolutely HATE about this sale is that they make you check your handbag at the door. I can’t stand handing over my nice purse filled with god knows what to strangers. Or you have to stand there and empty out everything you don’t want to lose. (This leaves you standing there with you Blackberry, iPod, Kindle, wallet and digital camera in your hands. How are you supposed to rummage through that mess of sweaters holding everything of value in your hands?)
Bottom line: Brave it once. See how you feel about it. I think the Warehouse sale is something you have to make your own conclusions about. Make sure you leave your bag at home.

It’s been a few months since I went to the Barneys Warehouse Sale but the slight trauma and the feeling of «never again» is still fresh. The line to get in is long, long, long, and the stock is haphazardly arranged and quickly disorganized. While I’m sure that there are good deals to be had, the selection is not that great, and the environment is not conducive to careful browsing. Communal dressing rooms are barely curtained off so be prepared to share the goods. After much waiting, frantic stressful browsing, and public nudity, I walked away with nothing. I felt this was the correct decision as I passed the long lines at the register.
Believe me. Whatever you might scrounge up, the madness and the naked are not worth it.
