The cut was good but the attitude and arrogance is enough to make me go else where. I’ve been here twice and got an ok cut the first time and a solid cut the second time.
BUT, the guy Rolin just made me feel unwelcome. Very arrogant and just straight up not friendly. I really wanted to leave mid cut. I wont go back just because of the attitude. Nothing worse than feeling like your presence is an inconvenience while at the same time trusting that person to do a great job.

Showed up 8 minutes late to an appointment. They refused to see me because you can only be 5 minutes late (something that was never told to me). I was told to come back 2 hours later. I told the guy he’d be losing a loyal customer over 3 minutes. He didn’t care. He began arguing with me and making up lies about me.
Plenty of places to get the same $ 50 haircut. I was coming here for the customer service. I can find somewhere less pretentious and douchy to get a haircut.

Been here a few times and always had a good experience. Neat, clean, and excellent customer service with a smile. Rolin and Marcus are hair artists! Always leave there feeling great.

If you’re looking for a Royal experience, from precise artists, you’ll come here. I’ve never given a business 5 stars; but Marcus Bs deserves it. I’m an androgynous chick, who’s particular about everything from my tailor to my socks. However, I understand not everyone is welcome to it. I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable and I don’t want to be uncomfortable. So when I walked into Marcus Bs, after reading other reviews of barbers in the area not being friendly to women in their shop — I headed to the receptionist and asked if they take women. She pointed me to a fabulous diva stylist who was shocked by my ask, she replied «we take all kinds of people here, come with us.» She set me up with Ryon. This was my second hair cut in NYC, since moving here in Oct. Shops vibe is strong, great music, outrageously clean, massage chairs, and the best undercut + fade I’ve ever received. Does it get better? Yes. Marcus offered me a delicious, neat, beverage — in a short glass.

I’ve been coming to Marcus for almost two years now — the guy is incredible. I have to be honest, I can’t talk about my hair a lot, but I know when I like it. Marcus always, without fail, does a fantastic job. Great location. Prices are good for the job he does. If you’re like me and you’re looking for a guy who won’t screw up your ‘do, Marcus is your man.

Best haircut and shave I’ve ever gotten — hands down. I walked in after work without an appointment just to see what it was about. Ryon hooked it up big time. He’s new there but the guy is amazing at what he does. Truly a professional. I’m sold — I’m a regular.

Was in town for a job interview, had a few hours to kill, so I booked a haircut with Rolin about a week or two in advance. So happy I did. When I told him I just wanted your basic, corporate friendly side part, he merely replied «Thats it?» Yup, nice and simple I told him. So he went to work with his arsenal of tools. He ended up giving me a much more fashionable take on the side part, tapering the sides and back of my hair. Still very office friendly, yet it absolutely looked like something you’d see more on a magazine cover than coming from a supercuts.
I got so many compliments on my hair afterwards, I felt it absolutely justified the high price. Which, keep in mind, this place is really a splurge. I’d save a $ 65 haircut for right before a big occasion.

Kim is fantastic. She greats you at the door with a smile. Her eyebrows are amazing. She takes your coat and offers you a beverage. I very much appreciate all she did.
Kiva is fantastic. I never had such a good shampoo massage as Kiva gave. Her fingers are like magic.
Rolin is Fantastic. He knows his way around a scissors. I recommend him to everyone I know. If you want to look like a model, you should have your haircut by Rolin.
Ryon is also great. Never had him cut my hair, but he is a super nice guy and all of his clients look great leaving the place.

So I knew something was up when I saw that everyone loved Rolin so I decided to make an appointment and he absolutely lived up to the hype. Previously I was going between an undercut when I go out and a comb over for work, it was ok but not ideal. Rolin fixed all that.
As soon as I walked in and told the front desk my name Rolin looked over and had an idea of what I was going for. They washed the wax/​hairspray out of my hair and asked if I would like a drink, always a nice touch. Every barber I’ve been to has been attentive and asked me about what I was looking for, but Rolin took it a step further. As soon as I walked in and told the front desk my name he looked over and had an idea of what I was going for. He knew that I was trying to blend my undercut with something that’d be more acceptable in a corporate setting and all he needed to say was «I got this». The man knows what he’s doing, has a great rapport with his clients and I’ll definitely be going back to him.
The only thing I really should add is that he’s going to give you a great cut, so give him the time you reserve. His schedule is usually packed so showing up late just delays everyone else. Besides if you show up a bit early there’s more time to drink your bourbon…

I just had the best haircut and shave of my life. Absolutely amazing experience with Marcus. His attention to detail and service is unprecedented. He is passionate about his work and I have finally found my go to spot. I have long thick red/​auburn hair and it is very difficult to get a good look… he pulled it off and then some. The shave was equally as unreal. Thanks Marcus and team and I look forward to being back!

I didn’t think I would give them 2 starts but yea… Meh I’ve experienced better. I was very clear on what I was looking for in my beard trim. Sleek, straight lines. I said I wanted to look sculpted, and gave explicit instructions. Started off on the wrong foote right away. While working on my neck line it was very rounded. Not what I wanted, and not level. I kept having to tell him it’s not level. He asked if I was happy and I said no. It’s not flat at the Adam’s apple, and he kept going shorter. Then around the cheek a similar situation. Not level, too rounded. Not what I had asked for. He kept saying, it’s pretty even. Eventually I had to say, I am not looking for pretty even. I am looking for even. There is a difference.
He also asked if I would like it just cut with clippers, I said no I want it fully sculpted. I actually said I want to look perfectly fresh and ready to hit the streets. Straight razor. I said I didn’t want to have to do anything when I left. He did the cheeks with that but left my neck buzzed? Only in NYC can you pay $ 30 for a beard trim and have to go home and shave. This man did not know how to sculpt a beard.
I went here due to the Unilocal reviews. The price didn’t matter. Ok I’m a bit booshie, but I live in Manhattan and am paying $ 30 for someone else to mold and sculpt my beard. It’s a little ridiculous to most people outside of the metro area. I guess I had high expectations that this was the spot to get an edged beard. I went in with plenty to work with, to get that fresh straight razor sculpt, and they didn’t come through. And a hot towel doesn’t justify the cost when it’s not backed by quality. I don’t mind dropping a dime at Franks chop shop for a sick fade, but they have skills.
Even now that I am home showing my wife she’s like the cheek line is flat and this one is angled. SMH… I guess life goes one right. 1^st world problems… now it’s time to let it all grow back and find the real spot in town to get a solid sculpt. Not sure where that is, but probably heading to Ace, Grumd, or Barber on Perl. Not returning here. Just needed to take the time to share the experience in hopes to save the beards of the city!

Marcus I’d as good as it gets. A true pro! Book online is a snap and show up. Couldn’t be easier. Marcus wears his cutting tools like a Wild West gun slinger staring down a duel. From the moment he hits you with the neck massager you know you’re in good hands. He knows his craft and takes his time to get the look right.

I’ve looked everywhere in NYC for a great men’s haircut and FINALLY found it here. I’ve been to Blind Barber, Whittimore House, Fellow Barber, etc BUT none have compared to Marcus. Great location, amazing haircut and just the overall best attitude I’ve encountered by far!!! What a pleasant experience. I’m not a big Unilocaler, but this place needs to be talked about… That good!!!

Here’s what I’m looking for: a barber who (a) gets the concept of what I’m looking for, (b) helps me make the idea better, © executes it well and with care, (d) is a nice person who I don’t mind spending 30 minutes with every 4 – 6 weeks, and (e) is affordable.
In New York, plenty of barbers don’t care much about their client’s preferences. I once heard someone say, «if anyone comes in here asking for that men’s haircut with short sides, I tell them to go to someone else.» Or they do, but they aren’t affordable.
Plenty of other barbers struggle with (b) and ©. They’re in it to give me the haircut that they give most guys like me. Or, they try to give me a haircut and fail. I have a cowlick, and after some haircuts, I spend the next month fighting daily to keep it down.
Rolin checks all the boxes. We talked about what I’m looking for. He got what I was looking for and did it the first time, being careful for the vagaries of my hair. Next time, I asked for a slight change, and he suggested some ways to make it even better. The ambiance of the shop is a little trendy/​odd for me, but Rolin himself is great. Highly recommended.

By far one of the best hair cut experiences I have ever had. I was wayyyy overdue for a hair cut and as soon as I sat down Eli noticed my hair was cut completely wrong by my last guy and fixed it. It felt more like a spa than a barber shop. Music was awesome, the moment I walked in after squeezing me in for a last minute reservation they washed and conditioned my hair and then Eli did his thing. They even brought a hot compress soaked with herbs and calming oils on my face before I left which I thought was a great touch! So glad to have found this spot and close to work. Money well spent!

I have seen Rolin twice now over 3 months. The first time I visited, Rolin had a difficult job cut out for him to undo the bad cut I got a couple months earlier from a different barber. Didn’t realise how rough the ends of my hair were due to my previous cut. Rolin spent close to an hour working meticulously doing what he does best. Being skeptical, I waited a few weeks to see how it would turn out. I was SO pleased with how my hair grew I saw him again today after 10 weeks. So after two visits I can safely say I have found someone who truly loves and understands cutting men’s hair. Believe me if you are tired of getting the same generic «supercut» experience and are looking to walk tall with a cut and style worthy of the big apple (for a very reasonable price!), go see Rolin. I can assure you won’t regret it. Cheers.

I’ve always hated getting my hair cut, that is, until I found Marcus. The man is an artist. I never know what I want to do with my hair. He takes my vague instructions and creates a masterpiece. I’ve never been to a barber who is so thorough either. He NEVER misses a single hair. It’s incredible.
The appointments are scheduled in 30 min intervals and he almost never runs over. I’m in and out in half and hour. No drawn out process.
Also, the glass of bourbon when I come in is always a welcomed perk!
The price is on the higher side (although he has been running specials lately) but if there’s a time and place to splurge, this is it.

I was long overdue for a cut, and I was going to NYC. Rolin is an old friend and I decided based on his amazing work I’d seen online, that I’d let this wizard have a go at my hair. Now, I’m a woman and I’ve never been to a barber shop! I knew I wanted a shorter cut than normal, and I had 100% faith in Rolin’s more than capable hands. I didn’t want it to look too masculine, nor did I want a very feminine look. Rolin and I talked for a bit about it beforehand, and I showed him pics of Eric Northman from True Blood (LOL!). And Rolin said, «Alright!»
My visit started off with a shoulder massage, which was well appreciated! Rolin got straight to work on my hair, not washing it beforehand, saying my hair texture would guarantee that the cut wouldn’t come out quite right, as it would cutting it dry and in it’s natural state.
Rolin is unbelievably meticulous. His attention to detail is flawless and he takes incredible pride in his work. I was astonished at this man’s ability to cut and shear and truly mould your hair into a perfect cut. Yes, an absolutely perfect cut!
When he was done, he let me have a look from all sides with the aid of a mirror. I was stunned. This is by far, the best cut I’ve ever had, hands down. Ryan, another employee had been watching, and said it was a «complete transformation».
I am more than overjoyed at my new ‘do and if I could give 10 stars, I would! Rolin is the man! The God of Shears! I’m very seriously considering flying into NYC on the regular just for a cut. It’s THAT good!

Guys listen up. If you want the perfect cut then I suggest you schedule a consultation with Rolin. He is a master of his craft. He will NOT begin the haircut until you are both on the same page. If you are not confident in explaining, simply find a picture of the desired style and he will work with you. He understands and puts the time into making sure your hair is looking sharp. I was instantly relieved when i first went to him. It only gets better each time I return. From fades, tape ups pomps, undercuts, to layers and texture he does it all with precision. The price is well worth it. I’ve posted a pic of his work.

I’ve been in the city for 7 months now and have finally found my barber. Rolin is the man. He knows his way around your head. He styled my hair in a way I’ve never done before, but before starting he asked permission and I gave him full trust. I made the right choice in trusting Rolin.
Now keep in mind this isn’t your corner $ 20 barber. They focus on quality here. I have no problem with the price when it comes with a shampoo, shoulder massage, a beer/​bourbon, and a great cut.
