THEWORST. first of all, they have no seats, so you just stand there in the cold doorway. secondly, they are always out of everything, so while the menu is interesting, they will only have three items, none of which were interesting to us. BUT, most importantly, the food is terrible. it’s like eating in a(bad) street stall in bangkok – and i have. the braised/stewed meat is dry – tastes like cardboard. the sauces are cloying, and basically, all the same. but the amazing thing is that it is actually overpriced! so, you’re getting crap and paying too much for it. not to mention that you are eating it off of plasticware. SKIPTHISONE!

Last time I was here it’s great. The pork bun was no good. pork was over cooked. We told the staff and they wouldn’t do anything about it

I ordered the chicken pad Thai and it was WAYTOO fish-saucy. I love pad thai but this place just does not cut it.

I would concur with the general consensus that this place is overpriced. But the Rama Tofu is so goddamn good. I got the«salad» once and it was unimpressive, so I’d recommend against it. The whole coconuts to sip from and enjoy the flesh of is pretty great. And I love the Gansevoort Market in general so it is a neat experience to hang out at the bar here.

Cheap food sold at ridiculous prices. Just got a bowl or rice and lettuce for $ 13. I guess that makes me a fool; thanks for making a fool out of me!

I ordered the Rama Tofu, which really hit the spot. For $ 12, the portion was on the smaller side but I thought the balance was exquisite — long-grained jasmine rice, fluffy fried tofu, a sweet peanut sauce sprinkled with chopped nuts and baby kale which was tender and crunchy. The space is a bit tight — a couple of bar stools at a counter — but it reminded me of a Bangkok street stall especially at the trendy but inviting Gansevoort Market. I washed down my lunch with a refreshing, real coconut and enjoyed walking through the Meatpacking District sipping on my coconut water. Also, the workers were truly Thai and I thought it lent it that authenticity.

Great food– nice and tasty. I had the veggie special, tofu bun, and brussel sprouts. Yum! The women behind the counter are really friendly. Not sure why people are complaining.

I was excited to try their pad kra pow(spicy chicken basil), but it was so oily and so so so spicy, I couldn’t really taste anything bc my mouth was on fire. If you love very spicy stuff, maybe you’ll like this. But even if it wasn’t too spicy, it’s a meager portion size for almost $ 15.

I ordered Pad Kra praw with fried egg to go. Eww…its way too greasy all the rice was dripped with oil and not flavour full at all… After all this location is for tourist, not for daily uses. It cost $ 14+tax. Never again.

Try the coconut curry chicken!!! So good! It all looked great but this one stands out. A perfect amount of spicy kick. Lots of flavor! $ 12 for a bowl over rice

Overpriced and mediocre. I ordered the Larb Hed Mushroom Mint and was extremely disappointed in my choice. To begin with, it’s overpriced for a small amount of rice, mushrooms, and sprigs of mint. In addition, I would have a hard time believing the mushrooms were fresh as they had the taste and consistency of something out of a can. My girlfriend ordered the Garlic Chicken and was also disappointed in her meal. I frequently toss chicken and garlic in a pan and with minimal effort end up with something tastier than her meal. For $ 12, we were expecting something better. On the way out, I ordered gelato from another stand to wash away the taste of Bangkok Bar.

Authentic and yummy thai food in gansevoort market! Not much seating. Maybe 6 seats at the counter but everything is served in to-go containers so you can try to find seating elsewhere in the market or take it to go —chicken curry: just the right amount of spiciness and moist chicken! —thai tea: not too sweet, def one of the better Thai teas I’ve had

I want to give this place a million stars! Our all time fav. Thai restaurant. .authentic flavors, chill vibe and the people working here are sweet, sweet, sweet. I’d travel far to eat here frequently… and I do. Spicy chicken and curry chicken transport me straight to Thailand. Rock on BB!

Just sat for a bowl of the spicy chicken curry and a fresh coconut. Fantastic! The space is a bit crowded but worth it for the food.

Bangkok Bar is the best Thai food you will ever eat. It is super authentic and everything on the menu is delicious! since trying their Pad Thai last summer, it’s the only Pad Thai I want to eat. Everyone is super friendly too! Highly Recommend!

Visited them at Madison Square Eats today. The Pad Kra Pow Gai tasted a bit off, probably from the kaffir lime leaves. The kra pow I had in Thailand didn’t use much if any kaffir lime leaves, so the flavor here doesn’t feel right. Also they use white meat instead of dark meat, which some of you like, but I think dark meat tastes better. Just a minor nitpick. #firstworldproblem

This is just another mediocre restaurant. I ordered the chicken curry rice bowl and the coconut milk curry sauce was thick as sludge almost the consistency of smooth peanut butter. This a restaurant that you go to just once and realize that it’s not worth your time or money in the future.
