Balloon Saloon creates amazing balloon décor for exotic events as well as delivering balloon bouquets to celebrate every happy day of your life.

Our retail shop has retro toys from the 60s, the ones today’s parents played with when they were young. They love reliving those joyful experiences with their own kids. It’s a fabulous way to get back to simpler times by playing with toys before technology’s bells and whistles. Eye contact and hands on involvement instead of staring at a screen. Music from the 50s and 60s compliment the fun mood of the store. Where else can you find a remote control fart machine right next to a floating balloon dog? Come in and visits a back in time experience.

History

Established in 1975.

Balloon Saloon started in 1975 as a balloon delivery service in my home in Brooklyn. It was my husband’s birthday and I wanted to fill the room with balloons but the service didn’t exist. Still a family owned business in the heart of Tribeca for the last 35 years. It has since morphed into a fabulous store packed to the brim with the coolest stuff ever! Balloon Saloon has been Voted # One Fun Store In NYC!

I’m Sharon Hershkowitz, I started the business when my kids were little and now my daughter is my wonderful partner in life and business. I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so many happy customers as well as my terrific employees, most have been with me for years. I’m happy that past employees come back to me years later saying they learned more from me than just balloons. I’m glad to have been such a positive role model in their lives.

I get it, you’re situated in Tribeca so of course you’re going to charge an arm and a leg for your products. I was absolutely willing to spend the money on their over priced balloons because I didn’t want to make the trip to Party City in Union Square. Shame on me for my laziness. Im giving this store 1 star because of a rude encounter I had with with a staff whom I believe to be the owner or manager. I was in the middle of being helped by an employee and this older Caucasian woman takes my coffee cup and rudely tells me that they had a no drinking policy in their «toy store». I felt embarrassed at first because I didn’t want to be that person who ignores a store policy so I willingly gave her my cup. Next thing you know, one of her employee came in where we were at and hands her a fresh cup of HOT COFFEE in front of me. WHAT A HYPOCRITE! I don’t care if you’re the owner of the store but if you’re going to enforce a policy then you should lead by example. As a business owner, you should carefully pick and choose your battles. Was it really worth taking my coffee away? I sure as hell wasn’t planning on spending the entire afternoon playing/​running around your store and «possibly» spilling my coffee on your toys.

This store is such a downtown gem! I have ordered balloons frequently for various events and they are always great, but I have usually gotten them delivered in the past. I finally made it into the store itself and it is one of the coolest little spots I’ve ever seen. They have so many cut games and toys, I had to focus so I didn’t get distracted browsing for hours. The manager was very helpful and I was in and out very quickly. Will definitely be using them for balloons again and hitting them up for gifts this holiday season!

The owner/​manager is one of those people whom seem like they are doing you the favor with their business where it is. Hot day over the summer, got idea to have water balloon fight. Spent almost 150 on supplies (yes really, it’s Tribeca). Needed bucket to haul balloons. No bucket for sale. Asked to use the one I saw in back not in use… nope. Asked to BUY it. nope. Said they «were using it» with bitchie overtone. Hope you go out of business. Your lack of business tact and grace is pitiful

The woman was very rude to my 18 month old, because she was playing with some plastic toys from the big buckets and kept putting some of them on the floor, while I was paying for a large order of the balloons (she really couldn’t have broken them). It is a toy store — kids will play while parents place their $ 200+ orders.

Wow, reading some of the reviews on here surprise me. Perhaps the secret is to order online? On Sat 2÷21÷15 I had my 40th Birthday party at Sarabeth’s in Tribeca not very far from Balloon Saloon. (this may have been another advantage) I ordered 100 latex balloons, some mylar balloons round, star shaped and EVE/​40 in the large mylar. I placed the order online and paid. (BS is not cheap. Nothing in NYC is cheap anymore) I received a confirmation call the day before. The restaurant was aware of the delivery. When I arrived at Sarabeth’s I was happy to see that not only were the balloons in the private room we had for the party but the mylar EVE/​40 had been taped to the wall and the mylar shape balloons were dispersed throughout the room. 100 latex balloons is not a lot (if you want to be swimming in balloons I am guessing you need at least 500) I was pleased with how everything looked AND the EV and 40 that survived getting into our cab (RIP the other E) are STILL floating on my ceiling 4 WEEKS LATER!
The brick and mortar location is fun and has a lot of party favors, gag gifts and inflatables for summertime fun.
My advice-​order online!

Loved, loved, loved the Balloons, BUT service was horrible. The lady on the phone gave me such a hard time about how I wanted my balloons delivered by 5pm. My dinner didn’t start until 9pm, but I needed the balloons set up by 5:30pm b/​c the restaurant starts serving other customers at 5:30pm. She argued back and forth with me on the phone about the delivery time, but then finally agreed to a 3:30−5pm delivery window. The balloons were not delivered until 5:40pm! I had my friends waiting at the restaurant at 5pm (to set the balloons up), but they couldn’t set them up until 5:40pm & this delayed the owner from being able to attend to other customers. This is not acceptable, especially since there are TONS of other balloon places that we could order from. Had the balloons and customer service been better, I’d leave a 5 star review. I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but I’d feel bad if this type of service is given to another person on their big day.

Where, oh where do I begin? First of all, I did not place an order with them. my coworker used their services. 6 — centerpiece balloon clusters, consisting of 5 balloons each, came up to $ 150. With delivery and tax the total was $ 185.09. The clusters themselves were ridiculously simplistic. That’s not my issue, that’s just a side note. My issue is, I called to ask for a clean copy of the invoice. The first time I called, it was a little after 9:00am. I was told, «You need to call back after 11. You can email us.» I said very plainly, I needed to verbally speak to someone in regards to an invoice. I asked who should I ask for. I was told to ask for «Mike». I waited until 11:27. When I called back, I was told Mike was on the line. Then the guy said, «if you have a pen and paper I can give you the email address.» When I told him that I needed the invoice faxed to me, he politely told me that the fax machine wasn’t working. «It’s easier on this end if we email it». Well damn, I didn’t know the customer was supposed to do things at the convenience of the business. This, mind you, after my coworker very specifically emailed Mike requesting the hard copy, noting that she already had a scanned copy.
I emailed them. Hopefully, I will have a reply in the next couple of hours, and not have to wait until 5:00pm or after.

I would give 0 stars if possible. I placed an order for a co-​worker returning to the office from surgery.
My order included 8 mylar baloons, a weight, plus $ 20 to drive 3 miles to deliver it.
The total was $ 80.
I was so excited to surpise my friend.
The company later contacted me and stated that I needed to pay another $ 15 to «arrange» the balloons, meaning tie them in a knot on the weight I already purchased. $ 35 in service fees before even getting a product! This is stated no where on the website; you would think if you were having 8 balloons being delivered to an office they would know that you wanted a presentable bouquet, not a plastic bag filled with loose ballons to surprise your good friend. Oh, and a random weight handed to them separately on top of all that.
Mike, the «manager» was rude and not helpful at all. He felt that it is totally fine to deliver balloons unarranged to clients with no mention of the $ 15 service charge on the website, which he fully acknowledged as accurate.
You might have an even bigger business if you hired a manager with some customer service skills. This was a disappointment, and a miss on behalf of Balloon Saloon.

The staff will guide you through the aisles and they know every detail that will make your venture into a party store successful.

I’ve lived in TriBeCa for over 20 years and bought balloons and other items from them from time to time. Just about every time I deal with rude snotty people… even when I try to place an order on the phone the people are rude !
Above all, they are a rip-​off, way overpriced– look elsewhere people.

This store bills itself as «the most fun store in New York.» It is, with tons of toys in addition to the balloons, balloons, balloons! Most of the toys are made n China, naturally, but there aren’t a lot of countries that make cheap plastic toys anymore.
Unfortunately, when I went in with Olive the sensitive black dog, the whooshing sound of someone filling helium balloons kind of freaked her out and we had to leave. I’ll go in by myself sometime. (You may wish to consider this before taking your kids in, or you may wish to purposely take them in to help desensitize them to loud noises.)

Only in New York City could a novelty store like this exist. And only in New York City could it exist while being run by such snide, thoughtless, and disorganized people. Jeri acts like she is doing you a favor by deigning to answer your call. The website is not comprehensive, yet when you ask questions about availability you are treated like a moron. Prices are through the roof, and inconsistent. Fees are attached without notice. Delivery times are broad and mostly undefinable (which isn’t great, given that a bunch of balloons aren’t easy to conceal or stow).
This store should be fun, light-​hearted, and enjoyable. Instead it is unpleasant, vexatious and frankly, wretched.

Pro-​tip: While it is possible to transport 30 helium-​filled balloons during rush hour to Brooklyn, on the subway — I wouldn’t recommend it.

I’ve ordered so many balloons from these people and I’m tired of it. They never remember their customers, keep track of businesses that order from them, and are consistently rude on the phone. Jeri talks down to customers like no one should speak to people on the phone. Taking my business elsewhere.
I also came in once and made note of the specific colors I wanted to use, order them over the phone, and when the balloons were delivered, they came in slightly different hues (not ideal in this instance because the colors corresponded with full party theme).
This is a «fun» business, but they do not run the ship very tightly or manage things in way that suggests they would like to grow, let alone maintain valuable customers.

How fun! Stumbled in after a boozy brunch. Not sure if it was the light buzz or excitement from all the fun items, but I couldn’t stop myself from touching everything.
I was surprised to find adult gag toys among children’s toys but in hindsight, I think they were out of their short pudgy arms’ reach.
I’d definitely keep this shop in mind for future balloon orders.

I always wondered how such a store could exist in this location. After two years in the area I went in to find a favored children’s classic book.
I learned that the shop sells adult gag gifts as well as toys. Very creative.
So, I bought «Goodnight Moon» and «Goodnight Keith Moon»

I wanted to give them 5 stars because the balloons were gorgeous and they basically MADE the dinner party décor feel like a party. However, the personnel inside the store were a little standoffish. I felt like I was bothering them while asking questions about the balloons and ordering them.
I probably would have spent more money there if I felt like my business was being appreciated.
Nonetheless, the balloons were great and prettier than I expected they would be and they were delivered on time with absolutely no issues. I even had to call back to change the delivery location and they changed it with no problems.
