It’s always nice to mock upper scale NYC night life spots. But this place is pretty fantastic. I stumbled upon the location with my best friend. The view of the city is great, the music was great and the vibe was very hip. I would recommend being well dressed and recently paid for this spot.

Great rooftop with a nice view of FiDi. Loved the havana theme… went to grab drinks and a bite but just ended up with having a drink because it was quite hard find a place to sit with my friend. Granted it was Friday night :)

the vibe and view here is unparalled. unpretentious, spanish vibe. the sickest view of one world trade, tea lights, frozen drinks, great music. when you get off at bar hugo, enter the staircase(filled with neon lights) and head up there. plenty of seats.

Terrible service and dingy atmosphere. Drinks were overpriced($ 18 Bacardi and coke) which was small and served in a shitty plastic cup. Ordered chips with guac and an order of steak tacos. Took 40 minutes and when I asked the waitress about it she got annoyed and told me to relax. Would not recommend given the large amount of similar rooftop bars in the area.

What not to love about this downtown rooftop? Crowded yes, but service was great and music was perfect. Arrive early and you’ll be happy.

My first visit last week with a group of friends. Great Vibe. Killer drink selection. View to kill. Beware they do allow smoking on the rooftop. This was very shocking.

Visited Hotel Hugo’s Azul on the Rooftop earlier this week, as they opened up the space for the first time this summer. What a beautiful and lovely space. How do you get there? Take the elevator up to ‘R’, and you will arrive at Bar Hugo, a nice classy and modern bar with fantastic views. Then head for one of the stairways and enter your first taste of Azul(Spanish for blue), a florescent blue-lit stairwell donned with Cuban art portraits. After the seemingly one and a half to two flights of steps you have left the sophisticated Bar Hugo to the lovely opened air Azul on the Rooftop, a relaxing tropical Latin oasis in the city. Like I said, I was there for a special opening event, called Planchao, presented by Blackwell Rum. There was live Cuban music by David Oquendo and plenty of delicious cocktails. Currently there isn’t any food on the rooftop, which is available at the hotel’s restaurant at street level. However, the restaurant is looking into bringing some grills and food to the space just above Azul. Nearly 365 degree views, patrons of Azul on the Rooftop can go back and forth for a view that spans from Lower Manhattan to the Upper West Side with Jersey on the middle on the Western area of the roof, or Lower Manhattan views up to Midtown on the East Side. Azul on the Rooftop at Hotel Hugo is a great addition to not only the hotel, but the neighborhood and Lower Manhattan itself. Drinks available at the event: Frozen Passion Fruit Mojito: Blackwell RUm, Passion Fruit Purée, Served from Kelvin Slush Funky Castro: Blackwell um, Peach Liquor, Mint Syrup, Orgeat Saoco: Blackwell Rum, Coconut Water, Passion Fruit Purée La Chula: Avua Cachaca, Guava Nectar, Fresh Lime, Azuca Cruda
