Autotech Collision

Reading the other reviews, I must preface I chose Autotech because it is approved through Geico. Since the work was covered through an insurance claim I can’t comment on the price, value or cost comparison to other shops. I will assume, based in its location and the fact that I’m not a total moron, that it’s very expensive.
I will say I’ve been here twice for claims and the work was perfect. Their communication and customer service is great.
We have an suv with a child so the interior is full of toys, books, junk and crumbs everywhere. A full-​on shit-​show. They actually cleaned up the inside, wiped everything down and vacuumed even though there were no interior issues on the claim. They also took care of a small thing for me as a courtesy, totally unrelated.
My wife picked it up and she said she’d never dealt with auto service people as nice as them.
Again– you’re dealing with a place in Manhattan blocks from the dealerships. It’s gonna be top dollar. If you think anything less, I’m afraid it’s on you for living under a rock.

I highly recommend this shop. My car got into a fender bender and Geico recommended a few shops for me. Autotech was one of them and after researching and seeing great reviews I chose them. I live in Brooklyn and after seeing some real bad reviews of the shops around my home and real close to me I decided to go with Autotech Collision. Everyone was friendly and got my car back in a reasonable time frame. It looked brand new, like nothing had ever happened. The manager, I believe his name is Cam, walked me out to my car and made sure I was satisfied with the work done. This all happened in April 2015 and it’s now October and I haven’t had any issues.

Unless geico or some auto insurance agency have referred you here, I wouldn’t take my car here. Let me explain. I had minor rust work done to the car above the windshield by the sunroof. It took them two weeks and it wasn’t until I called in to inquire about why it was taking so long to finish. By the time I got the car back, I found a noticeable gash on the passenger side of my dash. I confronted the manager about this and he of course denied telling me it was an old gash. He went back to the computer to look at the pictures they took of the car to see if that was there before they started work on the car and that portion of the dashboard was out of frame. I persisted to convince him that the gash wasn’t there before and asked for the original camera to retake that snapshot so I can compare the old and new picture of the dashboard and he refused.
Kam (not the manager) was able to reach an agreement and called out a specialist fix the dashboard. The repair is still somewhat noticeable. It wasn’t long until I’ve also noticed that the blower fan to the AC has become louder when turned on as in a fan becoming unbalanced rotating at a high speed — only fan, no AC was used. This is aggravating. Furthermore, I proceeded to look for signs of anything in the car that was tampered with starting with the passenger side area and noticed that the bolts to both the front seats have been removed and put back in. There were scratches around the bolts to show this. The screws to the glove compartment box have also been over– tightened. I wonder what they were doing in that area and why the compartment was removed.
The car also felt as if it’s been abused. At idle, there’s now a harmonic vibration that’s more noticeable, felt with hand resting on steering wheel, and shifter, that wasn’t there before. After driving while the engine is at operating temperature, the engine now exhibits a slight knocking sound. Also worth mentioning is that when I brought my car back to them to fix my dashboard, the guy who took my car in, drove the car in reverse, into the garage, and scratched my rear bumper at the left side– I only noticed after driving the car back home. I’d take my car to the dealer every time for even the smallest issue, but this time I regret to have even chanced my car with Autotech Collission.
I’m now looking into how to diagnose the blower fan, engine vibration and the knocking sound on my own, not to mention looking for another body shop to repaint my rear bumper. Jackals must’ve been doing more to my car than what I had wished for. I’ve never left my car with anyone for more than two weeks since I’ve owned the car and I really regret it this time. It’s NYC and anything can happen behind your back. I have proof and pictures of all of the claims above if you want to know more. I’ve also posted pictures so you can see for yourself. Do yourself a favor and look around for a family owned business and don’t use them. Good luck.

Asked for a estimate. Guy said they charge $ 100 for an estimate. Pieces of my front bumper were chipped off. Was told by other places it would cost around $ 80-​$ 125. Auto tech said it would be over $ 1000 to fix because they have to take the entire bumper off to inspect it for further problems.
Who charges for an estimate? I hate being suckered by auto shops. Auto tech should feel ashamed.

I chose to use this business because of the good reviews on Unilocal and because it was authorized by Geico. I took my 2013 BMW M3 here to get body work done. Geico had an inspector on site and she obviously worked with the garage quite a bit. The entire process was quite smooth. The entire process was explained orally and later documented thoroughly. The work was really quite good. I couldn’t tell that any damage ever existed. The work was done on time and paperwork was handled well.
Some of the other customers were quite rude and jerky and it made me glad that I don’t have a job where I have to deal with the public as much as they do. Despite the difficult personalities, the employees were always polite and professional.
To be honest I was expecting to have to get into a bit of an argument with this business because I had a preconceived notion that all garages promise the world but rarely deliver. I’m pleased to say that this really wasn’t the case. I’m going to reinspect the area in the next few days to take a closer look but I really don’t expect to find a different result.
I wouldn’t give them five stars if they didn’t deserve it.
They were quite honorable. It was a stark contrast to my previous experience with car repair in Queens.
Good job, Kam and team. I hope I never need their services again but if I do I’d go back without hesitation.

Unhappy with AutoTech. Received a call on Friday from Kam that my vehicle would be ready (as promised) at the end of the day.
I asked if he was sure as I had a rental car ready. He assured me the vehicle would be ready. At 5.30 pm about when I expected to pick up the car Kam called and said the work was not done and the car was not ready. Obviously, he did not look at the car the week and a half it was there and only noticed the work was not done right before I was to pick it up.
Now it was too late to reactivate the rental car and my family was inconvenienced because of AutoTechs misrepresentation and/​or negligence. When I picked up the car today Although I called in advance car I had to wait.
Would Not recommend this place.

Excellent staff, professional, caring and involved owner! Quality is a real priority, hard to get honesty in this industry especially in Manhattan auto tech goes above and beyond for their customers.

i own a mercedes benz ML truck and even though the dealer owned body shop is located a few blocks away i actually prefer to bring my vehicle to this shop where the staff is super professional, and detail oriented with responsible communication

After our car was sideswiped while parked the weekend after Christmas, our insurance company, Geico, recommended this body shop at which they have an on-​site claim adjuster. The whole experience was professional, courteous and efficient. They did a beautiful repair job and the fact that they have a direct relationship with Geico really eased the administrative aspects of getting the repair done. Considering the car went into the shop just before it closed for the New Year holiday, the car was repaired promptly. I would not hesitate to recommend this shop.

Autotech was great, so helpful, so detailed, very attentive. Happy to bring my car back there.
That said WATCH OUT FOR ARLENE, the Geico rep/​auto adjustor. She’s angry, and not helpful. She’s your typical insurance agent, not on your side, not accommodating, very cold and unreasonable.

Great work! My job included Geico and a rental car. The geico guy, the rental car guy, and the body shop guy were all there… and made everything run smoothly. They even found a small defect in my car outside of the damage I came in with. Then, I was out in my rental car within an hour. My car looked great when I came to pick it up. There were two small scratches remaining and the owner immediately said they’d take care of it. We ended up talking for a while and he even offered to change out my license plate frames for free. I was going out of town in a few weeks so he offered to come pick up my car, repair it, then bring it back. I sort of expected them to forget, but when my wife called for me, they came to pick my car up, repaired it, and even remembered to swap out my license plate frames without a reminder.
No problems here at all. Maybe not the cheapest alternative, but a class act!

GEICO sent me here after my car got hit. They did a good job (my garage was impressed) and were very easy to work with. They got it done when they said it would get done, and even pushed things up a few hours when I asked them to.

GEICO referred me here after I dislodged my Acura RDX front fender against a wrought-​iron fence. Could not have been more pleased with the quality of their work and their professionalism. The waiting area is pleasant, comfortable and clean. I was assigned DANNY upon arrival — he oversaw my repairs and kept me informed of what needed to be done and why (he was great). and MINOS, the insurance adjuster (also great), who responded to all my questions — including post repair. These are good people who clearly take pride in operating a superior auto repair/​body shop.
They wash, vacuum and clean the inside of your car before delivering it back to you! This is a great Manhattan find which I hope you never need.

Excellent work, but a little pricey
I brought my car to this shop 2 times at the encouragement of Geico, which uses them as a preferred shop.
I worked with a fella named Cam, and he was great to work with and I give him high marks for customer satisfaction.
The first time I brought the car in, they did a flawless job fixing the car… I swear, the car looked and worked better than before the accident I was in. The second accident I was in, the appraised cost to fix the car was so high, that I took the car to another location to fix.
If your insurance company is willing to pay the price of this place, its ideal location, hight quality work and solid customer relationships, make this a safe and preferable place to bring your car.

My BMW was a year old but still in Mint Condition when the front end was damaged, while parked in NYC. Naturally, I was extremely upset by this and the prospect of dealing with a repair shop and insurance claim. Geico directed me to Autotech, I stopped by, met with the Geico adjuster on site, took a look around Autotech and decided to let them do the repair. I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY I DID! the entire process was simple & painless, they did a GREAT JOB, the car was returned to me, clean and back in Mint Condition, the paint was a perfect match (Grey Metallic Not easy to match), they used only factory new parts and I am at ease that my car was well cared for and the repair is guaranteed! THANK YOU AUTOTECH!

I also used Geico’s repair xpress program like a lot of posters. I chose Autotech Collision because of the location. I was suspicious at first as I have never really had a great experience with a body shop. Typically, they take too long or inevitably have a part on back order but give you back the car without the part, promising to install and never deliver.
This was not the case here. I dropped the car off. They have an onsite adjuster who was courteous and professional. They re-​sprayed the bumper and changed out some bottom trim pieces and had the car back to me in 3 days. Granted that this was not a big job, this is insanely fast. The work was high quality.
Word to the wise, put in your winter/​rubber floor mats as this is a workplace and the tech’s work boots can markup lightly colored floor mats.

These guys do good work and are very professional, but I received my car back with the interior filthy and some scratches on the door. I have a large SUV and it’s a small place, so if your vehicle is large I would consider going elsewhere.

After a little fender bender, my car needed a new front bumper replaced, repainted. I went through Geico’s repair xpress program and decided on Autotech Collision. I grew up around cars, and I am an avid gearhead myself, a close family member also owns a body shop and I learned many things about the industry, so having a factory pearl white paint job and understanding that it’s a hard color to match, I wanted to make sure Autotech would do a good job. They didn’t make any promises, but hoped to do a good job. They did a great job on the repairs, BUT they are not perfect.
The job itself was done very well, but after having my fiancée pick up the car as I was out of town, I quickly went over the details. Our car is brand new (4 months old) and barely has 3000 miles on it (it’s a 2012) and I quickly realized the following after she picked it up:
–Dirty, greasy, finger length prints (4 fingers) on the driver side of my headliner which someone with dirty greasy hands (part of wrenching in a body shop) left when they were probably pushing the car forward while in the shop. The headliner on the car is a very light grey color, and now there’s a clear 4 finger mark smudged all over the headliner.
–The car comes with a drawer under the passenger seat where I store my GPS, the handle was BROKEN OFF, and nowhere to be found. Is my GPS in there? I wouldn’t know, as I can’t open it. Someone’s curiosity got the better and now I have to pay for it.
–After the fender bender, a factory daylight running lamp came loose and was placed in the trunk space, the light had a bracket piece broken, but otherwise it was in perfect condition, it has gone missing (was not in the trunk when I picked up the car). They billed the insurance for a new light, I pushed on the light that they supposedly replaced, and it wiggles, the other one does not, leading me to believe that they installed the broken light and fabbed up a bracket stay and charged the insurance for a new light. I haven’t confirmed this, but I will pull back the fender trim in a few days and see if the bracket is broken, if it is, I will have a conversation with the insurance company about it as I took pictures of it while off the car as I intended to use it for a projector headlight project.
After calling Autotech, they gave me the whole «we are not responsible for items in the car blah blah blah».

My car was blue with a bump on the fender. Now it is like it never happened! And I have looked at it in assorted light conditions and angles. It has been several months since and it still looks as good as new.
As repair places go they maybe a little pricy but how does it go? You get what you pay for! For what appears to be a small shop, I got Big results.

Top shelf, all the way. Nobody wants to have to go to a place like this. It is like going to an endodontist, you are going because something is messed up, in this case, your car. I live in the neighborhood, so I walk by this place all the time.
Each time I walk by, I think 2 things:
1. Wow, they are always super busy, which leads me to believe they do good work.
2. I hope I never have to bring my car there, as it would mean my car is messed up.
Then came that day when I got rear ended… and now needed to go to Autotech.
Inline with my observations, they were very busy. I had to wait over a week to get my car in there. However, everyone I worked with there was very helpful, professional and cordial. They explained the process and carried it out to a T. There were no surprises. They even had to go back to my insurance company due to an error in the adjustment and did so without bothering me… they just took care of it. When I got my car back, it looked as good as new. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone needing bodywork.
