It’s a really nice place with a very simple interior. I love coming here and grabbing some bread to go, I especially love getting their garlic and cheesestick bread. The service is really good and each individual buns are freshly made.

This is a very nice café … but can get really crowded really fast… serves yummy bakery items… Ambiance: nice, clean and comfortable Service: self-service but some of your item are brought to your table or pre order like a birthday cake for intent… Food: buns are pretty fresh and unique and drinks are freshly made… but i did want milk tea with bubbles… which they ran out at 3pm. extremely weird for a Chinese bakery… should defiantly come here if you just want a quick bite to eat or even a great place to spend some time by yourself with some freshly made desserts!

Awesome place with AC and a restroom and iced drinks for when you start melting in China Town.

I was drawn into the bakery by a picture in their window of different color twirl mooncakes. I’ve only had the taro ones before. I got one of each flavor they had — taro, mango, and plum. It was more expensive than other places — $ 2.25 each. They looked well made with flaky defined twirls and beautiful colors. Unfortunately they did not taste that good. The plum lacked a distinct flavor and was fairly bland, the mango was sweeter but tasted a bit artificial like those Japanese mango gummies, and the taro was the most disappointing of all. It was hard to taste the taro flavor and also tasted gamey. I know that’s a weird word to describe a pastry, but it’s the most accurate description I can think of. If the cashier was nicer, I would be inclined to come back to try their other stuff, but she was quite cold and after giving me my change just walked away, leaving me to reach past the cash register to take my bag.

I took a walk to Chinatown via Bowery, passed this bakery and café. I was impressed by the fact that it stated that no lard is used in any of its products, plus most of the buns are individually wrapped. Tried the custard bun, taro paste bun and the Mango Green Tea cake. Devine. The cake was not sweet at all. Definitely will go back.

This is my first time here … I tried the red velvet, it is pretty expensive for what you are getting. Very dry and not tasty

Overall, adequate bakery if you are in the area and looking for a quick snack or cake. I came here to pick up a Vanilla Roll Cake($ 9) for my dad’s birthday. The cake was large in size and quite sweet. This bakery is definitely one of the better looking bakeries in Chinatown and looked like they had tons of other bread selections to choose from. There is a sitting area towards the back and it is cash only.

I really like their chocolate bun, coconut cream bun and sesame bun too… if only I they accept credit card I would have bought alot but cash is fine with me… it’s all too yummy whenever I see their bread display. A must-try… good thing it is not packed with tourist unlike some areas in chinatown. But a lot of people I see just order coffee or tea and just sit their for awhile…

One of my favorite bakeries in the city! The quality is far superior to any other Chinese bakery, and I like their products better than those at Paris Baguette or Tous les Jours. Prices may be slightly higher than what you’re used to paying in Chinatown, but honestly it’s a matter of a dollar or less. The bread they use for the buns here is incredible — chewy, bouncy, and fresh. I also love that Audrey abstains from putting lard into anything. I recommend the taro mochi bun, the green tea and red bean bun, and the taro crisp, which is much closer to what you’d find in Asia than the greasy, brownie-like taro puff that Fay Da sells. Best of all, nothing here is overly sweet so you won’t get a sugar rush afterwards.

It’s a unique barkery. I still love this, so I go back there. today I buy Japanese green tea custard bun with rea beans. I think it is a special, limited, seasonal, bun. They put in basket on the top. it ‘s a very sweet very sweet very sweet bun. Each bun wrap in the bag. Very good.

Ordered a pineapple bun with custard and a slice of the green tea with mango cake. I bit into bun heaven… The breads are so soft, with an amazingly creamy filling. The cake was moist, a little too much frosting my taste, but still delicious nevertheless. I am usually very picky with my buns, but they have theirs baked to perfection.

Delicious pastries, Taiwanese style, declare themselves lard free. Preorder the«Hello Kitty«birthday cake(green tea with fresh strawberries and mango filling) but didnt realize frosting cream was pink, not white(photo on phamlet was decieving). The cake was delicious, large for $ 39.

My favorite bakery/café in China town. Inexpensive. I love the bread and buns. Good tea as well. There’s egg tarts, tea eggs, vita chrysanthemum tea of course, and even lunch specials now a days it seems. The variety of things you can find is ridiculous for a single shop, but you have to know what you are looking for. It really helps me not miss China too much(I traveled there for a while) and reminds me exactly of the bakeries/some food cars over there. I don’t need to say many more things about it do I?!

Was in the neighborhood to pick up some groceries and was craving some pastries so stopped by this bakery. Relatively impressed with the store which was clean and regularly stocked the pastries. There was a guy right next to me who must have bought over 15+ pieces, filling them up on his tray. I got a yellow custard bun which was $ 1.25. Prices are a bit more expensive that some bakeries nearby. This was the cheapest item and others were about $ 2.25. Fresh, sweet, and not overwhelming. Just what I was looking for.

One of the worst bakeries I’ve ever been to. My mom brought home this really nice looking egg tart but the only difference is that it’s 5x the size of a regular egg tart. I was really excited when I saw it cause It was appealing. However, the crust of the egg tart was actually bread. It was disappointed cause my mom told me It was 2 something.

This review is for the cakes. We decided to try this bakery for a birthday cake. It’s a very modern bakery. You won’t really find your traditional buns here. We ordered a green tea cake with mixed fruit and chocolate chip in the crème. It was delicious and surpassed my expectations! Super moist and very light cake. For a chinese bakery, its renewed my love for chinese cakes. I love that they have so many different designs and flavors. It is more expensive than other bakeries and they advertise that they don’t have lard in their products. Service is a bit slower but they are attentive. I’ll definitely come back to try the buns and other cakes. They have catering options and a decent amount of seating inside.

Relatively new addition to Chinatown(replaced the Viet sandwich shop before it) as far as bakeries go. The setup looks modern and their display contains some of the more exciting pastries I’ve seen anywhere in this neighborhood in recent years. Compared to what I’ve heard, everything looks delicious and some of the baked goods in the bins along the wall appear to be the same as can be found elsewhere with some unique flavors as well. Although i did not order any this time around, i did try the black milk tea with bubbles and it was quite good. The folks that accompanied me had some interesting bean-filled pastry that looked like a bun and they looked appealing as well as dense. I’ll be coming back to try some of the desserts as I’ve had my eye on the green tea, red bean mouse/cakes.

With a party of two as I was dire pain, in stillness, I need to sit and simply breathe. Nevertheless we came to Audrey Bakery in hopes to attain an inner calm with tea and a bun. So many Chinese bakeries cropping in Chinatown Manhattan in 2014, Audrey lured me inside for a try. In scanning their baked goodies selection they, disappointingly, do not carry the staples of Cantonese tradition– no egg custard tart 蛋 撻(daan6 taat3/1), and no pineapple bun, and I did not see any pork buns readily available. There were plenty of ample seating available. Food trays and serving tongs are available for self-serve help for the quick and, of course, cheap breakfast and/or lunch. They carry the standard cookie-cutter baked goodies as Chinese ham and egg sandwiches, hot dog buns, etc. There is a takeout menu of their custom cakes to be ordered for special occasions. Audrey Bakery appears as very ordinary Chinese bakery as they do not appeal unique out of the extraordinary.

Prices are okay, mostly under $ 2 for the baked goods, but things like the mini cake rolls will run you a little more. I got the green tea bun with custard and red bean for $ 1.50 — I haven’t seen anything like this at other Chinese bakeries, so I was interested in trying it. The outside was a bit tough, kind of like paper, but the inside was kind of. I’m not sure if this bread was stale or something, because while chewing it, it just was not the texture that fresh bread should be. I came in during lunch time on a weekday, so it should be relatively fresh, right? Regardless, the custard and red bean was tasty, though I wish it was baked into the inside of the bread rather that just plopped between the roll that was cut in half. I saw them making the mini cake rolls, so they must be fresh. Must try the green tea one next time!
