Job not done on the day, tried to befuddle me and tell me I got it wrong instead of offering discount. Lots of attitude. The shoes were not even cleaned. Sorry dudes, I’m never coming back!

I brought in a pair of suede boots that had been stained pretty extensively a few weeks before I brought them into the shop. I was praying for a miracle as these have been my favorite boots for the last two years. Much to my delight, the guys at Arty’s were able to get the stains out with no issue and had them looking good as new. Paired with their kindness and quickness in completing my order and they’ve earned a new loyal customer. I couldn’t ask for better service and will definitely return with any future shoe catastrophes!

Every single time I visit Arty, I’ve received EXCELLENT service! Its family owned and I always feel welcomed once I enter. The workers are always polite and efficient and its obvious that the owner treats them very well. I’ve referred several friends and if you are reading this, I highly recommend you visit Arty ASAP!

I brought in some used shoes for a clean, polish, and seal. They came out great. Then, my brand new shoes got treated with beeswax before I wear them in the filthy concrete jungle of New York.
I saw about four very satisfied customers pick up shoes, jackets, and purses that were repaired and beautified. I may even ship my leather from California to get worked on here!

Had the most amazing experience! I was so picky and hesitant when deciding who to give my beauty’s to repair. Arty and his team did a phenomenal job! Had six pairs of shoes soled, new heel taps, and resizing of a pair. So professional and affordable. Explained the whole process to me and made me feel comfortable leaving behind my shoes. Really gave my heels new life. Don’t waste time or money anywhere else. You will feel like you’re taking home brand new shoes. Only place to go!

They did a smashing job of restoring my husband’s 8 year old Mulberry bag… It was falling apart — they remade the handle attachments out of leather which they ordered to match to the rest of the bag, they remade a substantial interior pocket out of leather (the fabric had been shredded over the years), and then restored the look of the leather overall… It looks amazing. It was $ 200 for what must have been painstaking, epic work. This is my new go-​to repair place.

Arty is a man of great character and offers a great service at affordable prices. Will definitely come back for any shoe shine/​repair needs!

I was about to go on a long business trip a few months ago and needed a pair of my premium shoes to be repaired. Before going all the way across town to a place I’d gone before, I literally stumbled across Arty’s.
Arty was extremely personable and quickly explained my various pricing options for replacing the soles of my shoes. I have unusually large shoes, and Arty had to resort to using more material to resole them then I’d originally approved, but he refused to alter my named price, even though his own expenses had risen.
Arty was a total gentleman and did excellent work on my shoes! I haven’t seen them looking this good since I first bought them. I will definitely go back, and I strongly recommend his shop to anyone else looking for high-​quality shoe repair at a fair price.

Despite living in the area my entire life, I’ve never wandered into Arty’s. All that changed recently when a friend’s temperamental dog decided my NUDE Simple Jazz 100 Louboutin was a snack. Dark scuffs on the leather, sole was in shambles & bite marks galore…
Once the grieving period wore off, I decided to stop being sad and get awesome instead! Googled every shoe repair in the city — I couldn’t just give up, right? Came on here and figured: Okay, 35 years in business? They must be doing something right. Plus the 35% off promo was a nice touch.
Went in last week with 3.5 pairs (And I say half because…) which included other designer heels for minor help: Stretching, new caps and one shortening. I was nervous they might turn away the CLs but instead I was assured my babies could be fixed!
Today was my pick-​up date and I CANT STOP SMILING!!! Luis is a GENIUS! He was able to match the color perfectly and hand painted my babies back to life. A little bit of glue, some buffing, new red soles & color is all it took!
The best part– I feel the cost was definitely reasonable. A fraction of the price you’d pay elsewhere or worse case: spending another $ 700. Also, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner (Arty) today and THE MAN KNOWS SHOES!
My advice? Don’t walk, RUN TO ARTY’S! They’ll take care of you.

They don’t have huge collection but the quality and the service if fantastic. Reading area was not really good but was fine.

All of my coworkers recommended Arty’s for YEARS, saying they would bring their shoes all the way to Arty even though he was tremendously out of their way. I wish I had listened to them. Instead, I first brought a pair of boots to some place located close to my apartment for convenience sake. Boots looked great, but I paid way more than I was comfortable.
I decided to take my second pair of boots to Arty’s. I am SO MAD that I didn’t listen to my friends to begin with. He did an amazing job at less than half the price. The craftsmanship is impeccable — the boots look brand new, no more salt stains, no more leaky hole in the sole, shiny, moisturized and amazing.
PLEASE. Please, Don’t be a fool like me! Trust me, Arty is worth the trip!

Gotta love supporting a genuine New York institution. I went to Arty’s for the first time with a very delicate and complex request. I work in fashion and am naturally very skeptical about altering original designs etc. I purchased these sublime Margiela lambskin thigh high boots (in brown) and wanted them dyed black. The Leather Spa overcharges I find so I came here.
Arty greeted me himself, remarked on the high quality of the boot, even recognizing the designer and reassuring my «impeccable taste» that all would be in good hands. He not only dyed the boots flawlessly, but resoled them (and cut the sole to a very specific rounded heel) AND somehow didn’t change the coloration of the white cotton stitch on the outside which is the Margiela signature. He only charged me $ 125 to essentially give me an enhanced version of my $ 1500 boots.
A++ service! I’ve recommended to all my industry friends and he does not disappoint. Go to Arty’s!

Superb job on dyeing my leather jacket, absolutely superb. I entrusted my precious fading leather jacket to Luis of Arty’s and he is a true master. The dye was perfectly consistence and no runoff dye on the inside of the jacket at all. Really great Job! Thanks guys,)

I went there this morning to repair six pairs of shoes. And I was treated like a piece of shit. The guy there said even I brought six pairs I can only get one plunge on my reward card. And what’s crazy is that he wanted to charge me 275 dollars in all without any discount.
I have a gold reward card there because I bought many pricy shoes like RV, YSL, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, etc and often went there to apply a rubber on the bottom of the shoes. The manager is very nice to give me the reward card such that each pair of shoes I repair there I can get a plunge on the card. So for the sixth pair I can get a 30% discount.
But this morning the manager was not there. The guy who was working there insisted I CAN ONLY FET ONE PLUNGE although I brought SIX pairs of shoes and will BE CHARGED $ 275. I told him that was not the rule the manager told me. He tried to call to confirm but cannot get through. And later he asked me what do you want to do? I said, «Since I have six pairs to repair, I don’t want to come here for six times with one pair for each time, it’s not reasonable that you only give me one plunge to keep me from getting the special discount this time. «
Finally, I said I would like to come again next time when the manager is here. He said, «You wanna come next time and say sth bad about me such that I can get fired?» I said, «I am very decent and I won’t do that. I just want to get what I deserve.» HE THREATENED ME THAT NEXT TIME I COME, I ASK THE MANAGER TO FIX MY SHOES, HE WOULN’T DO ANYTHING FOE ME. BECAUSE I MADE HIM UNHAPPY TODAY!
JESUS…I PAY 275 DOLLARS AND I AM SUPPOSED TO MAKE HIM HAPPY, WHO HE THINKS HE IS! It’s horrible. Never met this kind of rude person before. He treated me like he is the God. What the hell! Here is NYC. I can find piles of decent shoe repair stores with a good service and a reasonable price.
I am not being mean. Just soooooo angry about this rude and crazy guy. Afterwards I went to QQ nail to do nail colors and told them about my experience at Arty, they said, «That guy he sometimes come here with his daughter, he is so rude!» Turns out everyone knows his rudeness!!!
This is my first time to give negative comments on Unilocal.But I don’t feel sorry. BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT HE DESERVES! If I can, I want to give ZERO star!

As I write this I am just heartsick. I brought a $ 350 handbag to Arty for a minor, simple repair and they blew it. It’s relatively new bag that I’ve carried maybe fifteen or twenty times.
One side of the magnetic clasp came separated from the leather and needed to be stitched back on. It had to be replaced by a single forest green stitch. Below the clasp are four identical stitches holding the inner label in place in the same shade of green. The new stitch had to match five single green stitches.
What Arty’s did was to re-​stitch using multiple stitches in black! It’s looks awful and it can’t be re-​done because there will be too many holes in the leather.
Adding insult to injury, they accepted no responsibility for it. When I tried to explain the problem of the stitch style and color not matching, the shoemaker kept insisting that they didn’t have the right color and that’s why they used a color that didn’t match. I kept saying that he should have told me if they didn’t have the color. We went around in circles.
They promote themselves as being classy and fixing high end items. But if they can’t match a color or copy a simple stitch style, that is a real lack of skill — or concern for quality of work.
I would love to give minus points because they not only did a bad job, they destroyed the look of my bag.
