Specialties
Artisanal Fromagerie Bistro adds playful twists to classic French brasserie dishes with a particular emphasis on outstanding cheese and wine. Restaurateur Sarid Drory, previously of the Waverly Inn, is behind this casual yet upscale restaurant with a chic atmosphere. Artisanal is equally accommodating for couples, small and large groups alike. The Fromagerie offers more than 160 soft and hard artisanal cheeses — a shrine for any cheese lover to salivate over. Not only can guests select from a daily ‘plat du jour’, the dinner menu also features French bistro classics and expertly prepared certified Angus Beef dishes. Artisanal is open daily for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night bites.
History
Established in 2001.
After its March 2001 opening, Gourmet magazine wrote, «as cheese-intensive as Artisanal is, as profoundly as it caters to the basest of lactic desires, the restaurant may already be one of the best bistros in New York, remarkable even without the cheese.» Awarded Best Brasserie Cuisine in the 2002 Zagat Survey, Artisanal continues to delight customers and critics alike.
