Specialties

Pizzaiolo Francis Garcia, who opened Artichoke with his cousin Sal Basille, got their hands int the restaurant business by working at their mother’s family Italian restaurant (Basille’s) in Staten Island. After opening Artichoke in the summer of 2008, the cousins have made more than a name for themselves, scoring articles in The New York Times, The New York Post, and gathering a never-​ending line of devoted fans, including Keith Richards and Momofuku’s Dave Chang.

In addition Artichoke serves ups beers and offers other specials through out the year.

History

Established in 2008.

We developed the signature Artichoke Slice working in our family restaurant in Staten Island. Artichoke on 14th street opened in March of 2008.

I own Artichoke with my cousin Sal. Our family has been involved with Italian restaurants for 3 generations. Both of our mothers still run t restaurants. We grew up in restaurant kitchens. I like to say that «when we bleed, pizza sauce comes out of our veins.»
