Analogue

The vibe here is pretty decent. The drinks are over priced, nothing particularly spectacular about them for their prices. The happy hour menu isn’t very big and only offers $ 2 off 1 cocktail of their choosing each week.
We went on a Friday around 6:30 and entered to a moderately empty bar and said we were just there for drinks. The hostess took us to a table at the front that had a «reserved» sign on the table, when we noticed they all did. So is this a weird ploy that the restaurant does to make it look as though they’re more popular then they are. b. c clearly none of the tables were reserved, so weird.
at one point my fiancé had her legs crossed and I’m not quite sure, I might have missed the moment her shoe touched the couch, but the hostess did not and immediately ran over to make sure there was «absolutely no shoes on the couch», which induced anther eye roll.
The service was pretty slow as well, forcing us to cut our second drink short and leaving half our glass of wine undrank to make our dinner reservation down the street.

Been here a few times, and each one gets better. Soft music so you can converse, good acoustics so you don’t hear all the other conversations and excellent wait staff, fast and engaging even when the place is busy. On my last visit, I got a mocktail recommended by bar staff and wow, sharp flavors and refreshing. Also enjoyed the Oysters. I will be bringing all my friends who visit NYC to Analogue!

This place is beautiful. The drinks are GREAT and the food was yums. May have had the best Manhattan of my life. We tried the spicy nuts, chips and fries. Top notch place.

Didn’t eat but saw there was live jazz so popped in for a drink on a Tuesday evening. The cocktails, with names like Idle Hands, were unique and delicious. And the jazz trio was superb. Great to happen upon this in my beloved Village (32 years and counting). The prices would shock an 8^th Streeter of the ‘80s, but nice to see old-​style class in the new Manhattan.

Was really disappointed in this bar. The service was pretty poor, it took a while to get drinks. The crowd seemed nice but people were on top of each other and you could barely move around. The worst part was that the bartender put another bar tab on our bill and wouldn’t take it off after we had disputed it. What kind of place does that. Sloppy and bad service. This place fails on so many levels and I wouldn’t recommend at all! There are so many better nicer bars that have a better atmosphere, better bartenders and likely better drinks close by.

Really torn between 3 and 4 on this one. Loved the jazz. Loved the elegant seating. The cocktails left much to be desired. Perhaps my expectations were too high: Analogue had been on my list for at least a year and given its rave reviews on this lovely web interface, I thought it would be a sure thing. Not so. Though this is a lovely spot for a date and generally convenient, you can get better cocktails at the Up & Up just a few steps away. But like I said, I’m torn. The ambiance was wonderful and there was a trombone for God’s sake. However, my reviews need to reflect my standards. So here we are at three.
Came here minutes before 7pm on a Monday night. Analogue doesn’t exactly scream «happy hour», but like any bar that has ever existed, they do have specials (hardly, though). Our bartender heard us discussing whether or not we should opt for the cocktail special of the night (unspecified) and piped up, telling us that this particular cocktail was his own creation. I heard the words «rye» and «cinnamon» and that was enough for me. So, both out of intrigue and respect for our bartender, we both went with said creation.
Perhaps that’s where we went wrong. Okay, it wasn’t *bad*. It was perfectly enjoyable. But it tasted like a more sophisticated version of Fireball. Now, I WAS that girl in college. You’re probably thinking: «oh god, a woo (for the How I Met Your Mother fans) girl who couldn’t get enough Fireball shots?». Not quite. I was that girl who sipped on Fireball. As in, poured it into a class with one or two ice cubes. This is all to say that I’m very experienced in sipping Fireball, likely more than the average person. But I tend to prefer more complexity in my cocktails, and I didn’t find that here. The full combo was rye/​punt e mes/​amaro/​cinnamon. I thought it could be an interesting twist on a Manhattan, but the end product tasted like a whole lot of cinnamon and a whole lot of SWEET. Maybe the ratios were off. Disappointing.
The unexpected twist of the night was the food. I should preface this by saying that I eat very very healthfully. I say this often in reviews, because I throw all caution to the wind when I eat out. It makes restaurants that much more fun. Anyway, early on in our time here my friend suddenly became very excited after looking at the food menu. Apparently «Devils on Horseback» are a thing that people eat and enjoy very much. Me being me, I had never heard of such a thing. If you’re like me and require more information, Devils on Horseback are blue cheese-​stuffed, bacon-​wrapped dates. So not what a health freak would eat. But definitely what health freak should try because deprivation is stupid. Really, how could this be bad? Salty. Sweet. Fatty. Rich. I cut these babies with a fork and knife because I like to make good food last a really long time.
We stayed for another drink. The fabulous jazz band started playing soon after our arrival, and I love me some jazz. So we decided to give the drinks another short. For my second cocktail, I got the Gin and Juice (Ford’s Gin, Maraschino Liqueur, Grapefruit, Lemon, Grapefruit & Lavender Bitters). Again, I found the ratios less-​than-​satisfactory. This could have been light and citrusy but I found the grapefruit to be a bit overpowering. Again, NOT bad. On the contrary, very good compared to most cocktails out there. But given Analogue is an expensive cocktail bar, gotta reiterate that my expectations were high.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t give nice big shoutout to the jazz band here. Jazz and cocktails are a winning combination, especially when you’ve got a soulful double bass player and a kick-​ass trombone. I haven’t been to many jazz clubs overall, but Greenwich Village is the place to be if you’re looking to channel your inner Duke Silver. A smooth and silky evening to you all!

Very chill place for drinks. Even on a Saturday night, the crowd in here was very tame and well-​behaved (just what I like in my old age). They were in their 30’s, not 20’s, yay for that in the village.
They’ve got quite the assortment of very interesting cocktails. I would highly recommend my drink — the peche bourbon (peach-​infused Four Roses bourbon, combier crème de pêche, ginger, lemon) — it was was tasty and not too strong.
There’s leather couches and chairs along one side and bar seating along the other. It had the look of a cozy private library. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Great place for casual drinks.

Came here with a friend on a Friday night. Really great ambiance and classy place. I was hoping to get some live jazz or blues and although it didn’t happen, I was very happy we came here. I drank their «Analogue» cocktail and loved it. My friend had one with an egg white, which she loved but I wouldn’t go near, since, you know, it contained an egg white.
I tried their lightest draft beer but later found it was their best since the others were all IPA’s, so perhaps they need a better selection on draft.
Either way, I’ll be back. Great place to chill at on a Friday night.

My best friend and I are on a mission to try all of the best cocktails around our area. We decided to venture into the Village to try out The Analogue and I am so happy we did.
If taking the Path Train in it is two blocks away from the 9^th street station. Super easy to get to. As soon as we walked in my eyes darted to the beautiful leather couches they have in the front and back area of the bar. We arrived around 9:30 so of course they were all taken but they have seating at the bar as well. The hostess was pleasant with us and asked if we wanted to wait for a table. I would recommend the leather couches if you are going with a group it will probably make the evening more comfortable.
Lucky for us two seats opened up at the bar! After carefully analyzing the drink menu I went with the Peche Bourbon and my friend ordered the Berry Surprising. Each drink was $ 15 which is reasonable for NYC prices. You get what you pay for I always say and we got exactly that. The drinks take a little longer to make then most people are used to but that is because these are mixologists perfecting their craft. We are talking about specialty cocktails here not your regular vodka and club mix.
I loved my Peche Bourbon. My favorite part of this drink was the after taste because the strength of this drink creeps up on you but not in a bitter way. It was soothing and relaxing and I couldn’t wait to order another round.
The background music is so much fun. They played some old music but mostly jazz which fits right in with the color of it all. It is a mature crowd and everyone there is conversing and enjoying the cocktails. I think we all come to a certain point where this is the scenery we look for when we decide to do the nightlife thing. 5 stars for a place that is in an accessible location, superb service, excellent cocktails, and relaxing music.

Every time I passed by this place it’s packed. Finally came here on a Monday evening, it’s a quiet night with live music, not to crowded, perfect for Monday blue.
We sat at the bar, enjoying the cocktail, music, and some bar food. A very enjoyable night.

Was in town for a girls trip and met some friends from the area here and have to say this place was great!
The vibe is very speakeasy and laid back with plush booths and seating across from a long bar the at runs down one side for the space. The service is great and the bartenders are very attentive and helpful at suggesting drinks.
I started the night with The West 8^th — Reyka Vodka, Cucumber, Mint, Lemon. This was light and refreshing. Felt like a glass of summer even on a cold winter night. For kicks I also tried the OLD 45s — Chief Gowanus Gin, Pear Eau-​de-​Vie, Amaro Luciano, Chanterelle-​Lemon Tincture. Went down smooth and great second option.
Overall a great spot to start or end any night in NYC.

The seating areas in front are very cozy — semicircular padded couches with little table islands for clusters of people. I had a Blood & Sand and «The Antidote» cocktails, which were quite tasty. Service was good too.

Classic and classy but the staff is pretty friendly. Good 1920s style acoustic jazz, grown up crowd (and cocktails) and plenty of space. I dig.

A very nice, low key cocktail/​jazz bar, romantic but not over the top. There is also live jazz and the acoustics are great. Drinks come with splendid ingredients, and their house cocktails are actually fantastic in my opinion. I had three of them, which was a clear sign that one was just not enough.
Sitting at the bar, I was able to see the bartenders at work, and there is definitely a level of precision and expertise in their mixing. The service was very personable and friendly, and they provided recommendations when needed. My choice of cocktails for the night were –
London After Dark ($ 16) (London dry Gin, pear Liqueur, French Apéritif, orange bitters, with Absinthe mist)
Confession ($ 15) (Bison grass-​infused Vodka, pear purée, lemon juice, Elderflower Liqueur, finished with sage leaf)
and lastly, the Peche Bourbon ($ 16) (Peach infused Bourbon with lemon juice, muddled ginger, and Crème de Peche)
Excellent choices all around. I prefer a boozier cocktail, but these nailed both the boozy and flavor departments. Each sip was highly enjoyable. The bartenders, their attentive service, and their attention to detail was consistent throughout the night.
Analogue accomplishes a lot of things that other more known bars in the city fail. If you are wandering through the area and want some great cocktails, maybe some live music in an intimate space that doesn’t go overboard, it is certainly worth the visit. It is also not super crowded, a plus on some given nights. I hope to be back at some point.

Overall not a bad experience, especially if you’re catching a few with friends. Great environment to hang out with small party.
It’s a low lit bar where you can have a decent conversation and the music is more for ambiance and not obnoxiously loud as other bars can be.
They have plenty of speciality cocktails that you won’t find everywhere. On the other hand the service is not the best and you can find yourself waiting for a while just to get drinks. Also there is nothing that stands out about the appetizers.

Dude brah. I’m totally kicking myself for not coming here sooner. Given my love for jazz, cocktails, and the West Village, I should have known better than to put off visiting Analogue.
Came in on a low-​key Monday night, after reading that they only have jazz on Mondays? Unclear, although I would say that they should have jazz on weekends too. Anyways, as a pretty low-​key lounge with nice upholstery, Analogue seems like a neighborhood favorite, even after just being around for a bit over a year. The couches were all taken, so we managed to snag some stools at the bar. The vibe is pretty casual, but elevated at the same time.
Both us were feeling sort of under the weather, but we felt like we couldn’t go without drinking, so we opted for one cocktail the entire night. I went with the Sergio Leone (rye, calvados, apricot, ginger bear, sea salt, and balsamic blackberry), which was pretty interesting. Also, super strong, and not terribly sweet, despite the list of ingredients. I also tried the peche bourbon, which was peach-​infused bourbon, ginger, lemon, and crème de peach. Super sweet, but still packs a punch, which I was a fan of. Don’t think I could drink a stem glass full of it, but I’m glad I was able to try it.
Service was relatively slow, given that it was busy, but the jazz made it all bearable, and the bartenders really. Prices are at about $ 15 a cocktail, which is actually steeper than most high-​end cocktail bars, but again, I’ll pay the premium for the jazz. Dat saxophone doe.
I’ll be back again for some jazz, and to try the other cocktails, of course. Perfect for date night, but I would say come here on Mondays, when there’s someone playing to make it even better. Make sure to get there on the earlier side, so you can ensure that you get a seat.

I have to substantially lower my rating for Analogue based on tonight’s experience. Really, very disappointing.
I came here on a Wed night after a long but fruitive day at work. I need a drink and toast to myself. I choose Analogue based on my previous positive experience (now I wish I didn’t). Walked in around 7:20 pm, the place is not even half full. Sat down at the bar and order a Penicillin — typically a scotch based drink. But I was served a Bourbon version without a headsup. WTF?! You think I could not taste it out? Asked the bar tender and the response is, he does not have a good single malt. But why don’t you tell me upfront? I don’t drink bourbon, ok! I would have ordered something else should I know.
Regardless I finished it and ordered the Brooklyn Bohemian as second. And I waited 20 mins! It is not even that busy!
I don’t think i will return any time soon unless someone respond to my complaint. I hope you realize you are in the service business and SERVICE is very important — that is almost all I pay you for. And for $ 15 a pop, I do expect better.

This place is classy, and I usually detest classy shit. But the drinks were good and strong, and the server was magically there when we wanted her and unseen otherwise, and there was ample seating on a night when less classy (and cheaper) places were packed.
So not really my kinda place and I liked it anyway

The lounge area filled up fast as the night goes on. No live jazz during our visit, but the lights dimmed around nightfall for appropriate date-​night intimacy. Daniel was a great bartender and our server was fairly attentive. We had the misfortune of visiting on the one day the chef was unexpectedly unavailable for the evening. Since we had ordered our drinks well before we found out, I cast aside my hopes for grilled octopus and opted to brave a cocktail gauntlet on an empty stomach.
The Oaxaca Smash was not as sweet as I feared, and the candied ginger was a nice touch. My favorite drink of the night was their namesake Analogue, which offered complex layers of flavor. Queen Vic was similarly intriguing, but a bit too herbal and citrus-​forward to win the crown. The West 8^th was refreshing like alcoholic superwater, as was the Confession thanks to its pear purée. They were happy to accommodate my off-​menu request for a Blood & Sand, which was a touch off-​balance but still tasty. I hope to make it back before the King’s Cradle gets rotated off the latest seasonal drink menu, and maybe I’ll try a Way of Tea too.

I stumbled upon this place walking around the neighborhood looking for a place to have a drink and realized that this place is definitely my speed. This place is huge. The bar is huge and there is a remarkable amount of sitting space in the front and the back. We grabbed a seat at the bar which is typically where I find myself at places like this just because it is more engaging on different levels. The bartenders were more like «mixologist». I notice that this is really a growing trend around the city. The well polished experienced drink connoisseur that can do almost any trick with a shaker, a glass and a stirrer. They had a great wine list amongst many other types of mixed drinks. The vibe is relaxed and mature and I really couldn’t have asked for anything more at that point. I would definitely come back here for a drink!
