An Act Of God

I absolutely loved the show! Jim Parsons was hilarious and it was a very cute play that I thoroughly enjoyed and would probably watch again. (A lot of Bible-​based and political humor delivered with Jim Parson’s impeccable comedic timing.)
I managed to snag tickets on TodayTix for $ 37! But I don’t think I would be as enthused and would probably give it three or four stars if I paid the full ticket value of ~$ 100. (Though this is one of those shows that happened in a pretty large venue and there is enough audience contact that it’d be worth it to pay to be in the first two rows!)

Superb show. Jim Parson gave an excellent Godlike non-​stop 90 minute performance with humor, finesse, and great ad-​libbing to some late arrivers (shame on them).

This was hilarious! I loved it! Jim Parsons was perfect in his role and he entertained non stop for 90 minutes straight. If you are very religious to the point where Book of Mormon offends you, then this is not the show for you. On the other hand, if you appreciate great comedy and have an open mind and a great sense of humor, then you will love this show! I hope to see this show go on past this to other cities. It would need the right actors but it is way too good! Highly recommended!

It was terrible! The way they think of making it funny is repeating the words sodomy, masturbation, herpes. I checked before whether it was appropriate with kids and they said 4 and up. We had to leave with my son who was 8. When I contacted them about it they refused to acknowledge this saying I stayed too long even though I have a taxi receipt proving we left very soon after it started after we had heard sodomy too many times and a lot of many other in appropriate things for kids. Not worth going to with so many good shows in NYC!

Jim Parsons is a true delight, and Christopher Fitzgerald and Tim Kazurinsky are absolutely terrific. This is a play we’d see over and over, if only to enjoy seeing in a theater once known for its hedonism.
An added bonus was seeing this show during Gay Pride month less than a week after the SCOTUS decision!
Hint: if you can spare the funds sit in the first row or second row on the aisle. While audience interaction is limited that’s where members saw the most action.

Most people are going for the name Jim Parsons. If you’re a fan, then it’s the opportunity to see this beloved TV star «in person» that makes a decently funny 3 – 4 star show into a 5 star show. You’ll pay about as much you would pay to see an elaborate Broadway musical production but the $$ is all for the jim parsons name… Still, it’s VERY entertaining and well thought out… It’s a bit like the New Age book «Conversations With God» but it can’t quite find its place between being New Age and being old school hardcore religion (on the one hand, God teaches that we are his greatest creation and he is our worst creation… but on the other hand, he confirms that he has wrath, Jesus was his immaculate son, and the earth is only about 6,000 years old)

Loved it, loved it, loved it! Fantastic that there was no intermission, that’s how I like it. Wonderful script. Only down side was the speed with which Jim Parsons speed through the signing line. You’re that important that you can’t spend 10 extra minutes with there fans that adore you?

The words out of my mouth after the show were «It was cute.» I’m not sure that’s what they’re looking for and at $ 140 a ticket, cute isn’t what I was looking for, either.
I went because I love Jim Parsons (isn’t that why anyone goes?). It was great to see him live, un-​Sheldoned, and deliver with his comedic timing just perfectly. Also, the set was fun with the «Windows®» screen and lighting.
That said, it fell a little flat for me. I’ve seen a lot of this stuff in Late Night Catechism. I wanted it to be funnier, less kitchy, and less forced engagement with the audience. I think it will improve with time, tho its only on for a few more weeks. If you need to see Dr Cooper, get the last minute cheap tix.

Perfection!
Hilariously irreverent (and at times surprisingly deep) look at religion delivered flawlessly by Parsons. Well worth the 90 minute showtime.
I was a little worried that this might be a stretch since Parsons is so typecast as Sheldon Cooper but he totally pulled it off. In fact, the writer even made that part of the storyline. I won’t reveal how (it’s just one of the fun «reveals») but it totally works.
Parsons did what amounts to a one-​person show (ok, in fairness it’s a 3 person show, but it’s 98% Parsons) and he never lost a line, faltered, or looked fatigued. It really felt like the conversation with the almighty that it is supposed to be.
Fresh, fun, and high energy. Highly recommended!

Absolutely spectacular, from production value, to comedic value, to moral value.
My only complaint? The CROWD was too dumb to get half the jokes! I mean come on, you know it’s gonna be about The Bible, at least brush up on your burning bushes and your crowns of thorns. Often, I found myself to be one of the very few in the audience cackling at the highbrow liturgical humor… and I’m a Jew who isn’t even that religious!
Jim Parsons is a literal legend in the making. It’s an hour and a half, no intermission, Parsons is on stage for the entirety of the show, and is responsible for 90% of the script. No one else on Earth could have done this better.
After the show, throngs gathered for signatures and photo ops. He did so for about 120 seconds, got into a Chrysler 300, and tore off.
