Affina Nail and Spa

Just had a fabulous mani/​pedi with Lina a few minutes ago. My cuticles were long overdue for a cut but she took great care of that. I would give the salon 5 stars but deducted 1 for overpricing. $ 35 is way too expensive for a regular manicure and pedicure. I will be going back! LOL!

For someone who’s been coming to this nail salon for over 2 years, I am pretty disappointed in writing this review.
Lately my gel manicures have been lasting me only 4 days, so I called the salon and asked them if i can get them fixed since i had the card allowing you to come in within a week. The receptionist said no problem and that i can come in the following day. The next day I went in and gave them the card and told them that if it was busy i would have no problem waiting. The receptionist rolled her eyes and told me to sit down in the corner. The entire time she kept leaving the area to attend to other customers without excusing herself and wouldn’t let the gel completely dry in the UV machine. By the time she was done she just walked away without saying «goodbye» or «thank you» and didn’t even clean my hands from filing my nails or put hand cream on. With this not being my first incident i’ve had here, I understand it can be busy in that store but making your customers feel like their being a burden is ridiculous to me.

A gel manicure for 30 bucks in the heart of FiDi? I couldn’t believe it, either. After having a mediocre experience at a nearby nail salon, I couldn’t stand the look of my nails anymore. ‘Twas time for an emergency intervention. My co-​worker suggested Affina because it was so close to our office and she received an incredible massage a couple of weeks earlier.
There was no wait at 1pm in the afternoon — thank god.
The staff there are very understanding of your needs (ie: me needing to get a gel manicure done in less than 40 minutes), Jenny, the woman who did my nails, was very courteous and made sure that I finished on time. I would say I felt a bit rushed, but that was completely my fault.
Once Jenny finished the manicure, she handed me a card. Apparently, Affina knows where it’s at because they offer to fix the manicure if it chips in three days or less FOR FREE.
My nails look amazing now and I came back to work feeling like a new woman.
be wary: tip is cash only but they do have an ATM on hand.
I think I will be going back for one of their spa services but I really recommend them if you’re looking for a great and relatively cheap manicurist in FiDi

Best nail salon in FiDi. Lina does all my services — she is super detail oriented so my pedis and gel manicures are always perfection! She gives the BEST foot massages and chair massages too. I never leave there without one.

Worst customer services… Been told to wait 10 min on first visit and after 20 min I ask how more min and been told 2 min to find out 10 min later that I still had to wait!!! Sorry but ur are loosing a new livng FiDI customer for good!

Love this place! Have been to many salons around the city (based on Unilocal reviews) and this one really stands out in terms of customer service and quality of products. They have a huge selection of polishes and I especially love the Zoya brand because it doesn’t contain some of the chemicals that other popular ones have, not to mention the colors appear to be so much richer. Despite the fact it gets busy during lunch time, you never feel rushed or that they are cutting corners. It really does take about an hour for a regular mani/​pedi (inc drying time) but this is a much-​welcomed break during a busy workday. The technicians are super nice and attentive and my nails look fantastic for many days after I’ve been there. Highly recommended!

Bad gel manicure — 2 nails chipped within 2 days. Do yourself a favor and go to 10over10 further up Fulton Street for a quality manicure.

Very clean salon which offers a lot of services. I’ve been coming here for my pedicures for 12 months and have never left disappointed. They are busy yet they do their best to accommodate everyone as quickly as possible. Great customer service and relaxing atmosphere.

My favorite nail salon in FiDi, I would go no where else. Always extremely clean and very spacious, which is what I like. You can tell all the technicians are professional and have advanced training because they are extremely meticulous and take their time.

This is my go to neighborhood place. I get a pretty lo-​fi mani/​pedi. The pedicures are thorough and clean. What keeps me coming back, though, is the fact that they do a dry manicure — no water. This is the best for my easily torn-​up hands.

Please keep in mind I did go to this salon on a Saturday night around 6:00pm.
Shop presentation: They were very busy, about 15 people being helped and they were still able to accommodate me for a pedicure. They have a very big pedicure section in the back of the shop which is incredibly clean. The only thing that was a bit troublesome was the drying station. Its in the middle of a very busy walkway, and you constantly feel like you’re in the way.
Cleanliness: Instead of just filling the tub with water, they put in a plastic disposable liner so it’s hygienic. Such an awesome feeling to not worry about foot fungus. All tools are sealed in a hygienic looking bag which I’m guessing is after they are sterilized. All tools such as nail files and foot scrubbing pads are disposable and brand new which are opened in front of you.
Customer service: The girl I had didn’t give me her name so unfortunately I can’t commend her for her great work. She did seem like she was in a little bit of a rush, but that did not take away from the experience. She wasn’t pushy about adding on services which always makes me a little crazy.
Pedicure itself: They use a lot of disposable scrubbing tools and it makes the experience feel a lot more personalized to you. They also include a 5 minute timed leg massage with their basic pedicure which is really nice. The heel moisturizer was also a pleasant surprise.
Pricing: To me the pricing was on point, aside from the basic manicure, which I thought was maybe a few dollars too high. Again, I only got a pedicure so I’m not sure what the manicure included. For the average pedicure experience, it was worth the couple extra dollars. They do use experience nail colors such as Essie OPI and Zoya (which was awesome to find no on uses Zoya and it’s such a great polish)!
Overall the experience was very positive and I’m thinking about going back for a 30 minute massage soon. Aside from the drying station the décor was pleasant and relaxing. Their pricing is great for the around considering the nail polish quality, and the extra care. I would absolutely go back!
Update: it’s been almost 3 weeks and my toes STILL look amazing. Excellent job!

A relaxing sanitary nail salon, but the CND Vinylux manicures from Affina that usually last 7 or more days from my go to place, only lasted 1 day at most before chipping.
The customer service ok and I was once wowed by the nail shapes, but I feel it’s too pricey for the average quality of service and won’t be returning.

This place is my friend’s go-​to salon so my friend and I joined her for manicures. We went after work around 7:00 and didn’t have to wait too long to get started. It was clear that Affina has regulars and it was pretty crowded for a Wednesday night.
The salon is seemingly clean and nicely decorated. They make good use of the small space and seem to accommodate many people.
My biggest concern is the service, which for me is the majority of the whole experience. The nail technicians didn’t say a word to us. Not one word until we asked questions about the polish.
When we sat to dry our nails, my technician didn’t turn the machine on so I figured that it was heat lamp only and no fan. I wasted time and it was my fault. Then she came back to do the fastest 5 second massage of my entire life. My friend and I laughed at how quick it was. But she didn’t get one at all so…
This place was okay but Meh. I’ve experienced better.

This was my 3^rd visit at this salon and likely my last.
Lets start off by saying that the first 2 times that I’ve been here, I’ve had no complaints what so ever and had an overall pleasant experience. Both times, the technicians were Latinas and they did an impeccable job on my French pedicure.
Today however, I was paired to a Chinese woman named Jenny. She was immediately upset with the fact that I was her next client and to top it off, I had requested for a French pedicure. Mad and all, she still took me in.
Jenny sat me down next to another tech who was also Chinese and appeared to be her «buddy» at work. She proceeds to do her routine on my feet and told me that my toe nails were too short to do a French. I simply replied to make the lines thinner. I mean, weren’t you trained for this? FYI, this was not my 1^st French pedicure and no tech has ever made that silly comment to me.
She began to speak to her «buddy» in her dialect which was Fujianese. Little did Jenny and her «buddy» knew, I speak the same damn language. Her «buddy» began insulting me to Jenny in Fujianese about my eyeliner. She said, «Her eyeliner looks ugly. She looks like a demon. She’s the only one who thinks she looks good with it.» Jenny agreed and chimed in on how ugly my eyeliner looked. Ironically, both these ladies had a permanent eyeliner tattoo. How can you make fun of me when your eyeliner is PERMANENT!!! Mind you, my eyeliner was on FLEEK!
I couldn’t believe the nerve of these women. Very UNPROFESSIONAL and so much hatred towards me when all I wanted was a little spa treatment on my damn feet after a long day. Funny thing was, when Jenny switched it up to English, she was as polite as can be. YOU ARE PHONY JENNY.
Hind sight, I should have spoken up and requested for another tech but I didn’t want to embarrass you and cause a scene. To sum it all up, she really could not draw a thin line on my toes. Thanks for the pedicure! BYE FELICIA!

I tried this place because it’s close to our apt. & it looks clean. I got a Mani Ped to start with. A lady took me to the pedicure section. Already i felt uncomfortable with her. Her communication to me i find a little abrupt. When i turned on my chair massager, she asked me not to do it & turn it off. I was a bit taken aback because the other clients were using theirs.
The whole time she was doing my pedicures she was talking to another lady. And she doesn’t tell me what she wants & would get annoyed when i don’t do what she expected me to do. She did a good job at my Mani Ped but my overall experience with her was not pleasant.
I’ll try them today with a facial & hopefully that’ll turn out to be a better experience.

After 3 years in the FiDi I finally came here. Before my pedicure began, I got a SMILE AND NEW TOOLS and was told to «please enjoy».
One would assume this is the case in most salons but no. So polite. Clean. Efficient. Thorough. I would highly recommend.

I’ve tried out a bunch of nail salons in this area and they are all horrid except these guys. They are very nice, have a relaxing and CLEAN set up, and offer great services. Mani/Pedi’s are very well priced for the area, of course the minute you add «gel» or anything like that you can expect a big price jump. I love their pedicure massage chairs. They also give you small free massages throughout the process, including while your nails dry. Their work looks great and lasts. Great color selection. Feels like a spa.
My only complaint is I was turned down to get acrylics removed once, and also the significant price jump for anything other than a regular mani/​pedi.

I am a woman who likes her manicures and pedicures. I like my cuticles cut so far down that you never knew they were there, and her nails so short you’d think they never grew.
With that being said, I just received the BEST manicure and pedicure I have EVER received at Affina thanks to Carmen.
I will absolutely be making this my go-​to salon and Carmen my go-​to girl. :)

First time there.
Pricing in stores did not match what’s online (they say it’s because of the TAX; personally they should include that on the site)
I felt rush in picking a color & making decisions, whether I wanted a wax or not. (It would be understandable if they were busy, but they weren’t — I was the only one there)
I wanted a chocolate Brazilian wax, but the lady couldn’t give me information about (it was my first time) so I just did my armpits. (She rushed, I don’t understand why, missed a couple spots; I could have done it myself)
The limit on cards is displayed — 20 $ limit
I ended up leaving w/​o getting my nails done.
I won’t be going there again.

Came here because it had pretty good reviews and I needed a good place. The mani/​pedi-​est I had was Renu. She was so meticulous and did not try to sell me any upgrades — I said I wanted a mani pedi and that was it. My nails were a wreck so I was really happy she was so obsessive about making my ugly nails look quite good in the end. I am very prone to chipping within the first few hours and they still look good more than 12 hours later. They didn’t rush me to get out at all.
The place is very clean and has nice soothing music. All the girls that worked there seemed very nice.
