I don’t ever leave reviews (this is my very first), but for Aerea I’ll make an exception!
I’m really happy with my entire experience. I’m quite the procrastinator when it comes to getting my hair cut, but after searching around I finally chose Aerea Salon. I scheduled my appointment online (really quick and easy) for the very next day, walked in, and chopped off 12″ of hair! I knew I wanted to go a much shorter length, and decided to donate my hair to Locks of Love. What was really helpful is that Aerea took care of the entire donation/​mailing process for me! I felt welcomed and at ease the entire time, and I love how my hair turned out. I would definitely recommend Aerea, and I plan on going back myself.

I had very bad experience with them. I got an appointment for highlights from the guy name is Alex and he messed up my hair… Now i have to wait at least 7 – 8 months with these horrible thick stripes on my head and find someone else to fix his mess :(…The worst thing is he didnt even bother to dry my hair to show me the color. I was crying when i finally got off from the salon. One of the worst hair salon experience in my life.

I found this place on Unilocal and it was close to work. I have jet black hair and I was sick and tired of it. I was afraid of a drastic change so I asked for an ombré with the owner, Alex. He was super nice and stayed late to finish coloring my hair. I loved it! It came out great and so natural looking. I still get compliments months after. I definitely recommend! Alex is the best.

I came to Aerea Salon recommended by my roommate. She said Alex is the best in coloring and besides that he gives such a great customer service that makes you feel comfortable there. I have to say that everything is TRUE. He took the time to get the result that I wanted, the salon was closed and he stayed one hour more to finish my hair! It was my first time and definitely not the last one, I will come back for sure! I am a very picky person when it comes to hairstylist and Alex is the best one I have met in NYC. Don’t think it twice to come to this salon!

Liz did an amazing job on my hair and makeup for my wedding. She made sure that my trials were done when the salon was quiet so she had time to work with me and find out what I liked. After 3 unsuccessful trials with other stylists who did what they wanted and not what I had asked, her approach was a welcome relief. I had a destination wedding and Liz was reliable and easy to work with on the travel and other logistics. On the day of my wedding, Liz was a calm presence in my room and took extra time to stop at each step and make sure I was happy with the way things were coming out with both my hair and makeup. I highly recommend Liz for any wedding service or any other special occasion.

Even after my friend referred me to this salon I still went and read their reviews on Unilocal and Facebook first! To my surprise I discover this was one of the best hair salons in New York and was excited to make an appointment. I’ve been searching for a great hair salon in New York and was thrilled when the frontdesk was able to fit me in the day and time I preferred for balayage highlights with Alex.
As soon as I walked in, I was seated and asked if I wanted water, coffee, or tea while waiting since I was 15 minutes early. I find that very nice of them to offer.
I didn’t have to wait long until Alex finished the highlights on his previous client. As soon as his client left, he introduced himself to me. He was very friendly and it made me feel more comfortable (I was pretty nervous when I walked in). I showed him a picture of how I wanted the hair color to be and he gave me his opinion about it. Since the hair in the picture was curly and I naturally have straight hair, he gave me some ideas on how to make my hair look more wavy like the style I wanted in the picture. I really liked that he took his time to teach me.
Overall, I had a great experience in Aerea salon. I was very pleased with the service. The final result of my hair came out almost like the picture I showed him! He was very knowledgeable on the techniques and how to apply the dye to create a light/​dark sort of dimension in my hair. He did an amazing job on my hair color and I am definitely a happy client that will be coming back!

I found them on Unilocal and decided to give it a try after going to the same stylish for years whom is doing a decent job w/​my hair but nothing too exciting.
Asked to have my whole head highlighted by Alex. The color came out AMAZING. I thought it was a bit darker than I had anticipated but after a few days, it came out looking perfect. My hair looks smooth & healthier (yayy!).
Alex/​Liz also talked me out of getting a permanent perm which is thank god because I don’t look good w/​curly hair and they said it might be too damaging for my hair.
The salon is nice & well decorated. Guests are provided w/​their choice of beverages (tea, coffee, water), which is a nice touch. I worked w/​Alex & Liz whom are both very nice. They own their business so go & support the small business in your neighborhood!
I am esp. happy w/​my coloring & will be returning to see Alex.

I went to Aerea on a Sunday for the first time to get my my hair highlighted and tape-​in extensions lifted.
Liz took my extensions out and was very knowledgable about the extension methods and provided me with several options to re-​adhere them using the best adhesive that would last long and minimize the chance of damage later on. We decided on a material which she graciously left the salon to purchase herself and accommodate my hair’s needs – for no extra charge. She also worked with Alex to schedule hair coloring (which I did not make the appointment for but needed) in the interim. They were reapplied in a manner which strategically made my hair look natural and blended.
Alex did an amazing job on coloring my hair. There are so many variations and dimensions to blonde hair and Alex understood perfectly the shades I prefer (bright and cool) and did a gorgeous job. He recommended adding Olaplex to protect my hair cuticle, which was a great move. The color and coverage is perfect and the texture feels smooth.
They finished with a complimentary blow out. I had a great experience and will be returning!

The gentleman that did my hair was absurdly nice, and I’ve put off writing a review, but I have to say this was the most disappointing Keratin’s I’ve had done. While I was there, he had maybe 3 other clients he was working on simultaneously. They use a certain product line that was new to me (sorry, I’ve forgotten) that has a 3 step process. I believe I was there about 2 hours, which is the pretty quick. I’m not sure what went wrong, perhaps the product wasn’t left on long enough, or the speediness of the flat ironing, but it was an very ineffective treatment. My hair was basically the same texture, and the small change wore off within a month, even though I splurged for the $ 50 shampoo they suggested.

After years of not dying my hair I finally decided to go platinum. I went to a local salon in Brooklyn who, as sweet as they were, did not create the result I wanted — too much brassiness and a strong hint of orange (my natural hair is light honey brown, so this was surprising)!
After a week I had to make a change so I googled ‘platinum hair new york’ and looked through the images. The ones I liked brought me to Alex at Aerea. Then I saw how many 5 star reviews he had and I was pretty sure I had found the right colorist!
I was able to get an appointment easily and quickly and as soon as I met Alex I had complete confidence that he could give me the platinum I had envisioned. The end result was more than I had hoped for! He new exactly what I wanted and more. He used the Olaplex treatment which has my hair feeling amazingly silky, healthy and strong. I really enjoyed his relaxed and friendly nature along with his skill and artistry. I couldn’t recommend him more, not only for platinum but any color.

I am performing in a musical and the costumers really wanted me blonde. The wigs we had looked atrocious on me so they basically begged me to get my hair colored. I agreed and selected Aerea for their good reviews and proximity to my office. I made an appointment on the same day and scooted out of work with my lap top. I explained to Alex what I was looking for and showed him some pictures and he seemed to know exactly what to do — and he did! I had brought my lap top with me so and was able to get quite a lot of work done while my hair was worked out. I felt a little bad ignoring him to do work but he said it was fine and that people do it all the time.
He asked if I wanted to add olaplex for an additional $ 50 and had I not been on my lap top at the time (so I could look it up) I may have said no, but I quickly googled it and it looked like a good idea, so I did it. I’ve colored my hair quite a bit over the last year so I think i made the right choice!
While the color was processing he worked on other people’s hair. Had I not been doing work at the time I may have thought it was taking a bit longer than usual, but I had plenty to do anyway. I also read after the fact that if you use olaplex it takes longer for color to process, so that may have been the reason.
A different girl cut and blow dried my hair. I cant remember her name, but it may have been Stephanie? Whoever, she was, she was great and super friendly! I had put my computer away at that point so we were able to chit chat.
I was in the salon from a little after 3:30pm to about 7:15pm, so it was quite a process, but in the end I am very happy with the result (as are the costumers!) I’ll be back!

I made it all the way down to Chelsea on a Thursday to get my previously brown hair color re-​done. Reason being that my hair had previously ashy blonde highlights in it so it didn’t take too kindly to the brown color and washed off pretty easily. So this time I decided to go 3 – 4 shades darker so that way the color would last longer.
In a matter of a couple of hours Alex, my favorite hair colorist of the last year, applied single process to my hair and had me under the heater for half an hour. The final result came out much darker than I anticipated but loved it, as I’ve always loved it when he was giving me the best blonde highlights of my life considering how dark my hair is! So, maybe it felt a little dark because of having blonde highlights for too long but I figured it was time for a change.
I’ve lived in New York all my life and Alex and the rest of Aerea Salon never seems to fall short of my expectations which has never happened at other hair salons in New York before. From brown to blonde and some colors in between I always have been happy therefore is the best hair salon in New York I’ve gotten my hair done. I will continue to make this my all in one stop salon for my hair and I was also very pleasantly surprized with the new look of the salon after the renovation it underwent making it more airy and sleek.

After seeing so many great reviews, I had to come here for color. I made an appointment for balayage/​ombré highlights with Alex on a Thursday evening. Although he was with a client when I arrived, he apologized for the slight delay. I was offered coffee while I waited, which was nice. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, so I showed Alex some pictures. Originally, he warned me that since my hair was so straight, the style might not look exactly like the photos. However, in the end, he was able to blend in the colors so nicely that it looks great with straight or textured hair. He also assured me that if I went home and for whatever reason, was unhappy with the results, he’d fix it at no extra charge. I love that kind of customer service, and it makes me comfortable coming back here.
I’ve received so many compliments on my hair, and I’m in love with the results. I would definitely recommend Alex for color, and I think I’ve finally found a stylist I’m truly happy with.

First Experience:
Dirty Blonde to Platinum Blonde
I have wanted to go platinum for a long time but was nervous to do it. So I researched a lot and found that Alex was the best hair colorist around. Made an appointment and met Alex to discuss everything. I loved the salon and the service. Such nice people and Alex is the best. The results were amazing! My hair was white, which was what I asked for. My hair wasn’t badly damaged either and it didn’t burn. The whole process was awesome and the outcome was incredible.
Second Appointment:
Two months later and I liked the look of dark roots and white hair but over time it had gotten too yellow so I went back and did a gloss that made it a beautiful light grey, it compliments my natural roots so nicely! The service was one hour, quick and easy.
Cannot wait to go back for my next appointment! If you want to go platinum, I highly recommend Alex.

Just had my first experience at Aerea salon and loved it. They had just finished some remodeling over the weekend, and I don’t know what the salon looked like previously, but the remodel is absolutely gorgeous!
My usual salon couldn’t take me in time for me to leave on a trip, so I found Aerea and decided to try it out because it’s close to where I work. I just came in for a trim but Alex took his time and paid close attention to detail with my hair.
I had a great experience and plan on returning. Would definitely recommend.

This was my first time getting my hair done at Aerea by Alex. Seriously the best decision ever! From the moment from I walked in I just fell in love. The set up and lighting is just perfect.
So I walked in very nervous and wasn’t sure what to expect. But once i started to speak with Alex and saw how eager he was to listen to how i wanted my hair cut to the color, i knew i was in good hands. He took his time asking me specific questions on what i wanted and thoroughly explained how my hair will come out and boy did he exceed my expectations.
Everyone in this salon is super friendly and super nice. Great relaxing environment with great music. I can say that i finally found my go to hair salon!

Got my hair done by Alex twice now. I didn’t really have any direction except that I wanted purple. The blonde that he did was amazing so of course I kept that for a few
weeks. Then when I went purple he was able to get me exactly what I wanted without any freak out moments since I was doing such a drastic change. He really knows what he is doing and will definitely work with you to get exactly what you want.

Love this salon. This was the first time I’ve gotten my hair professionally colored before and I can honestly say I’m so glad I went to see Alex. I had no idea what was going to happen or how the process worked, but Alex took the time to walk me through everything. He was so nice and patient. He answered all my questions and helped me figure out exactly what shade would best suite me.
Originally, I had some box dye and a perm in my hair already but I was getting bored of my current hairstyle and was really itching for a change. I wanted get balayage highlights for dark hair hoping to get some more dimensions to my hair. Alex did exactly that. He told me before hand that to get the color I wanted I would have to bleach my hair (which could damage it more) but my hair turned out amazing and my hair held up great.
The salon was in a great location, close to many subway stops and really easy to get to. The receptionist at the front was really welcoming and super attentive. I heard the owner say that they do commercial photo shoots and weddings too.

I’ve always wanted an purple ombré with balayage highlights and even attempted to do it myself, however we all know how that works out. I decided to go to a hair salon in New York City this time and get it properly done. The salon was in the Flatiron District /​Chelsea and was close to almost every subway line so it was very convenient. When I arrived, I saw how cute the salon looked. When I walked in, I was greeted by the receptionist. The atmosphere in the salon was very dainty and professional.
I had previously lightened my hair to a somewhat blonde level going for the ombré but it needed much more blonde highlights first in order to achieve the hair color I wanted. Alex did balayage highlights on my hair by painting certain strands and blending it in perfectly with the bottom layers of my hair. When the color was washed off my hair, I immediately saw the results. My hair was purple with hints of pink which is what I wanted. I loved the gradual color change which was definitely a change from my natural brown hair color. My hair’s ombré looks amazing and it is by far the best hair color I’ve had so far. I am very happy with how my hair color came out and can’t wait until the weather gets warmer to show it off!
All in all, this hair salon has great service and is very professional. I will choose it over and over again over any other hair salons in NYC the next time I need my color redone, a haircut or even hair extensions and would definitely recommend it to all of my friends!

I’ve been dying to have my roots touched up so I decided to come here. When walking into the salon I notice how big and spacious the place really is. The design has a simple yet fancy touch to it. I was greeted right away and helped. Alex, my colorist, hung up my coat and we went to sit down and start right away. He was very polite and professional and when I explained what I wanted, he understood right away. The best part is he will repeat his interpretation of what u want back to u a few times to make sure!
I had asked to get rid of the red tint color left from my previous color and to touch up the roots. Then, I also asked to blend in my tip color so that it would be more natural instead of straight across. After washing and blow drying, the results were just want I wanted. He got rid of the red tint by darkening the color and neutralizing it and he blended in my tip color perfectly! Overall, he did an amazing job and the curls were great! I would highly recommend u to come here! It’s worth the visit!
