Let me begin by saying this office is a money making machine, by scamming the people who are in desperate need of a baby. SCAM SCAM Dr Melnik, his license to practice should have been taken away a long time a go. I went to him thinking he is a decent person, but boy was I wrong. I too was put on thyroid medication, and was told with eggs like mine I shouldn’t have no problems conceiving and even twins (initially). After all the scamming and money he took from me, he then said I do not have any eggs to ever have kids. Then I was offered to get a egg donor, one week before I was going to do it. I GOT PREGNANT on my own without any medication, had my baby girl exactly 2 years later had my son and now I am pregnant with my 3^rd. I am writing in pain for all the other people who believed in him and still may. If I could have wished one thing was to have read the reviews before, and saved my self all the headache and stress he had caused in my life. Please please people do yourself a favor, if you are in his care stop and go to a Dr that does not have reviews like his, all of us writing is to help other women not got brought what most of us have gone. I wish all the women luck. I have been there and know that feeling of wanting a baby bad, but Dr. Melnik made my every day a hell. It’s been 5 years years since, and there isn’t a day I say. (what would I have done if I choose a donor and then got pregnant on my own as I did with my other two.) Run Run Run.

I truly believe that this office is a big scam!!! It is so sad that anyone would use such a sensitive situation to make $$$$. I see a Dr Spandorfer at The Weill Cornell Center for reproductive care because I have a low ovarian reserve. I should have really trusted that I was going to the best reproductive center in NY but noo I kept trying to find something better. Dr. Melnick advertises a procedure called ovarian rejuvenation which sounded so promising and truly just gave me so much hope when I read about it. When I went into the office I had such a bad feeling in my heart. The receptionist couldn’t even tell me how long the place has been around! They charged me $ 425 for the consultation and then $ 375 for blood work that wasn’t even necessary in addition to the fact that I never even got a phone call with results for. I When I met with the Dr. he was focusing on thyroid the whole time. When he finally gave me a chance to ask question about the ovarian rejuvenation I knew right away that I had mad a big mistake by wasting my day to meet with this doctor. He claimed to be the only Doctor in the world to perform the procedure but yet didn’t have any solid statistics. He claimed that he performed the procedure on 24 women 1 of which got pregnant and he didn’t seem to know anything about the remaining 23 women. The next big red flag was the fact that the procedure is performed basically the basement of his office. I have been going to fertility doctors for 2 years and never where any procedures that require being put to sleep performed in the office they are always performed in the hospital. Please don’t go to this place you will be sooooo disappointed and angry when you leave. It was joke!!!

Do not go here! Dr. Melnick suggested that we transfer 8 fertilized eggs, telling me that I’d be lucky to get pregnant with one. Two weeks later I found out I was having triplets and was asked if I wanted to «reduce» (which means abort). This is an irresponsible place that does not value life!

AVOID THIS DR LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! He is a total quack and should be struck off the medical list. He misdiagnosed me and unnecessarily put me on thyroid medication.
He spent no time asking me about my symptoms or history and to top it off he became agitated when I asked him further questions about my alleged hypothyroidism. In total he spent 15 mins with me; 5 to tell me I had hypothyroidism and sent me off to get blood work. Another 10 to give me the results of my blood work. 10 mins to tell me I needed medication and I would be more susceptible to thyroid cancer! I was put on 60mg of Armour Thyroid which made me dizzy which I also found out (later) was an overly high dosage for someone who was just starting on thyroid medication.
At no point did he even feel my neck /​thyroid.
I have since been to see an endocrinologist at Cornell who has told me I DON’T have hypothyroidism and should NOT be on medication
Go elsewhere. This «Dr» is should not be practicing medicine

If you are looking for infertility treatment go else where. If you want to discuss your thyroid you have found your guy!
If you ask me — This office is a scam. Dr. Melnick will 100% tell you have a thyroid problem. Even when you just need blood work he will call you into his office for 30 seconds and bill your insurance for an office visit. At one appointment, he not only billed my insurance, but he even charged my husband’s insurance for an office visit because when Dr. Melnick shook his hand he said it felt cold and he probably had a thyroid problem.
I quickly went elsewhere and we are happily expecting our first child! And we are NOT on armour thyroid medication.

I just wanted to confirm Hannah F.‘s experience. I too was immediately diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I came to see Dr. Melnick about freezing my eggs.
No matter what I said in regard to my symptoms (or rather lack of symptoms) and my general quality of life, I was told repeatedly by both Dr. Melnick and the other doctor who shares his office, «You need to get on medication. You can improve your quality of life. You might produce more eggs if you take medication.» I was also told that I was perimenopausal and would need donor eggs.
I didn’t take any medication and two months later was naturally pregnant, but miscarried. A year later, I’m naturally pregnant again and in the middle of a healthy 2^nd trimester. All it took was a bottle of Progesterone.
If you think you have hypothyroidism, this is your guy! However, if you arent sure you have it, I’d look elsewhere.
Otherwise, I thought the office was fine. Dr Melnick seemed knowledgeable. He and his staff were very nice and professional and took the time to answer my questions, but his aggressive push to diagnose and medicate hypothyroidism made me uncomfortable.

I should have known by the scuzzy waiting room that I was in for anything but help from Dr. Melnick and his staff. Melnick’s shtick is all about the thyroid… he misdiagnosed me with hypothyroid, put me on medication and then later, doubled the dosage. The medication did nothing for me besides make me feel crazy. I was recently diagnosed with NO thyroid issue, have gone off the medication and feel back to normal. Though there were a few good nurses, the majority of the staff at AFS is worthless. They made me wait for hours, refused to answer questions and gave an incorrect name to the pharmacy, making the process of filling my prescription virtually impossible. During a procedure performed by Dr. Melnick, he left the speculum inside me and walked out of the room, giving the nurse a glance that it was her responsibility to remove. The nurses are constantly playing games on their phones, seconds before giving sonograms and virtually the entire staff is chain smokers. I went to AFS for seven months and each time they mistook a cyst on my ovary for a follicle. Do not waste your time or money with these people. They caused me great anxiety and I frankly can’t believe I wasted seven months with them.

Dr Melnick treats EVERYBODY for a thyroid condition whether you have one or not (says It might be «pre-​clinical») He wants you to try a medicine (Armour Thyroid), and if you feel better, you should take it for the rest of your life. It is a «natural» medicine (made from pig thyroid), that apparently makes most people feel better because it acts kind of like speed. He holds up the bottle, rattling it, saying «I’m on it too!» The patient before me was recommended this, as well as the patient after me. Even though I checked on the intake form that I did not have most of the symptoms, he still pushed it, «are you sure you’re not depressed?» and «don’t you get hot at night?»
BUT.what REALLY bugged me is that in trying to convince me to get an egg donor, he suggested that «those types of people» who give up their children for adoption are genetically inferior, «stating «you don’t know what you’re gonna get,» and «they usually have learning disabilities»
I was shocked and offended.
(Plus his office is hideous.)
