The food is great! I really like the shawarma and the beets and cabbage salads. And, Daniyal, is fantabulous! He really makes the whole experience all the more special!

Abaleh… why? You were so delicious when you opened and I came to you very frequently and spent lots of money on you for your wonderful food and attention to detail. Now tonight you forget to give me pita on my take out order? Would you send a baby home without its mother? Your shawarma was soggy and not delicious plus the ingredients did not work well together! Would you pour cold water over a hot crispy bagel and feel okay sending it out to a customer and take money for it? Why have you gotten lazy and sloppy? Do you hate money? Do you have too much money? Are you now cutting corners and sacrificing quality for more money? Have you upset your chef? Is you chef upset with you? Is the owner away and now you think it’s time to play games? Why would you play games with your loyal customers? Is Mars out of alignment with Jupiter? Why should planet misalignment affect your hard work ethic and attention to detail and pride in your work? Ok I think you get the point… please fix your issues and be the awesome restaurant that you once were and feel free to reach out to me(if you care at all about your regular customers)!

The best shwarma in the city! I’ve been all over and have to say, abelah had the freshest ingredients, nicest staff and tastiest food around. I’d give 6 stars if I could!

I liked Hummus & Pita Co but this place is even better! We were greeted by friendly staffs when entered the store. Portions are huge. Three of us shared two platters, one with chicken shawarma, the other with falafels. There are many sides to choose as well. My favorite was the shawarma with white sauce. So good. Juicy, flavorful and tender. Eggplant was a MUST! I almost ate them all by myself. Get the eggplant side and you will not regret! Falafels were good but not the best I have had in NYC. For falafels I would stick to Mamoun’s. Other than that I highly recommend this place!

Abaleh is my favorite takeout spot in the UES. I would eat here every day if I had the budget. They make everything from scratch(except the pitas) — the hummus is incredible and the salads are fresh and delicious. Even though they have a huge menu, I almost always order the chicken shawarma. I also recommend the chicken kabob, Greek eggplant, cauliflower/broccoli, and spicy carrots. The owners are two really nice Israeli guys who love cooking — I think this is their first restaurant and I really hope it will be successful. Come support these guys and enjoy delicious, home-made Israeli food

This place is great. They give you a huge selection of authentic Mediterranean dishes for an affordable price. I think the current platter deal is meat(shwarma/lamb/chicken/shrimp) or falafel, 2x choice of salads, 5x choice of veggies/sides, 2x choice of dressings, and hummus + pita. All for less than $ 15. Plus they have a wine selection and freshly squeezed juices. Love this place, definitely going back!

There is a very long delivery time. I live only 4 streets down and it took them over an hour to deliver a sandwich. The meat was cold and impossible to chew, seems like it got out of refrigerator. Also the pricing is too high for the quality. Their phone is unreachable as well. Do not recommend delivering from this place.

I got the chicken plate(soft and flavorful) with the couscous(solid), hummus(more than solid) and roasted vegetables(also solid.) The service is quick. It was ~$ 12 for the plate. I’d definitely come back again.

The latest entrant in Yorkville’s fast/casual/healthy category is a winner. While the food is delicious and the décor is stylish, the real beauty of Abaleh is the people, who are helpful, cheerful, and genuine. I got lured in by the smiling guy who’s regularly stationed outside with a tray of samples: soup one day, smoothies the next. The strategy worked, and our resulting meal did not disappoint. My falafel was maybe a bit overdone, but the pita was absolutely stuffed with veggies and pickles. The chicken shwarma was fabulous: moist, flavorful, and also gigantic. Hummus: smoooooth. The smoothie we shared(dates, bananas, tahina) was a little bland, but a good counterpoint to varying degrees of spice. It’s a bit pricey but I think totally worth it for a meal that’s so fresh, tasty, customizable, and generous. BTW: The name is an affectionate way of saying Dad in Hebrew(if you’ve ever referred to anyone as «Pops» you’ve got the idea).

WOOHOO finally another place I can add to my very SHORT list of delivery places! The reviews hold true. I was very content with my chicken kebobs and absolutely LOVE how personalized you can make the entrée! For $ 20, I got a great helping of boneless, white chicken, rice, HUMMUS, med eggplant, soft pita, salad toppings, and a side of harissa(!!!)…and it lasted me two meals. WHAT A DEAL!

Abaleh… the name is for those who know — the food is the kind of food you want to know. No joke the Shawarma sandwich is truly Israeli inspired… ya its a tiny bit overpriced but you wont regret it… its delicious. The pita wrap is so memorable that I find myself craving it… a wide variety of fillings for the overstuffed shawarma sandwich including awesome grilled vegetables. The spot is clean, the staff very friendly. They are doing a lot of things right. Keep going strong Abaleh.

Very good spot with great falafel and varied juice bar. Decent selection of wines and the place looks very welcoming. Definitely a great spot for a non-fancy quick and healthy dining. Ambiance is very casual, but there is an upbeat look About the place. And I love the music they play as well.

Can’t say I would come back. 1. Their ordering system needs a serious re-think. Instead of the tried and true«order what you want behind the glass counter-bar and we’ll ring you up”– think how they do it at Subway, it’s order everything at the cashier and then we will make your order. The result? Indecisive people or just regular traffic holding up the line for ages. The tried and true methods exist for a reason. 2. For what you get, it’s incredibly expensive. A $ 15 platter gets you one of two middling sides, and the shwarma(chicken) is incredibly dry. You have 5 «toppings» before they’re 99c each, and you have two«sauces» before they also charge you extra for it. The sauce is terribly small and if I paid extra for another sauce, I’d be furious. In addition, something’s gotta give, and you can’t be charging a dollar for a pinch of lettuce or a couple half slices of tomatoes or 3 slices of cucumber. And, probably the worst tahini sauce I’ve had in a long, long time. 3. Did I mention that the food was pretty middling? Well it certainly is, and the only saving grace was that the hummus was pretty good. Falafels are pretty sad and over-fried. 4. After they take your order, it still takes a while. For scooping things out of containers onto a plate, it certainly should not take the full 8.5 minutes. Again, some efficiency revaluation could be done to streamline the process and get things done better and faster. Would not recommend.

I was looking for a spot in the Upper East Side where I could have a casual and healthy dinner with a friend without having to go to a «real restaurant». I came across this place, and thanks to you fellow Unilocalers I felt confident about trying it out. The Food: My friend and I loved all of the options they have and decided to get the Vegan Special Sandwich(ft. Vegan shawarma, hummus, chimichurri sauce!). To drink we both got the Hawaiian breeze which was recommended to us by the manager. It was an excellent choice for a warm summer night. The total was around $ 17 which is a bit steep but the taste of the food and the portion sizes made it worth the cost. The Environment: Very spacious restaurant with lots of seating(booths, communal tables, small tables for pairs etc), tons of outlets, two bathrooms, and some outdoor seating. It is very clean and just looks like a place that values how it presents itself. The Service: The employees were all incredibly helpful and friendly. We received nothing but smiles and good vibes from all of them. Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to coming back!

This place is similar to hummus and pita co but with a smoothie and juice bar too. The meats(except the schwarma) are cooked when you order so it takes about 5 minutes to move through the line. The food was good, chicken kebab was very juicy and tender. The hummus and sides were good. The place itself is quite large and comfortable. I told the manager/owner I wished they had a hotter sauce available and he said next time he could make me one! I didn’t feel that the shug, tahini, or tzatziki that I tried were super flavorful. I’m looking forward to trying this place again with that hot sauce. I also think they might benefit from different flavors of hummus– cilantro jalepeño and spinach/feta are my faves ;)
