A & A Imported Motors

There was a bit of confusion over my appointment for a state car inspection that I had made earlier in the week (probably my fault as I’ve been more stressed and absent minded than usual. I’m also the one who had a 9 month old expired state inspection sticker… whoops!). It wasn’t in their appointment book for today. Given that it was New Year’s Eve and a short work day, I appreciated that they squeezed me in and completed the inspection. A big thanks to Lynn and Joseph for being so accommodating!

Professional, straightforward, reasonable prices. Took a 20 year old Benz here to get a few things fixed up and it was no hassle. It probably would have cost more if I took it to the burbs.

I had been quoted several hundred dollars worth of damage to my 2005 Mercedes from other repair shops, so I decided to bring the car into A&A for another diagnosis before putting such a large amount of money on the line. A&A was not only flexible about keeping my car for a long time (there were times during the week I couldn’t pick it up), but they found that the actual damage to my car would cost significantly less to repair than what I was quoted before at less experienced shops. These guys know what they’re talking about, and I would recommend them to anyone with a foreign car.

Brought my car in after an aluminum valve stem failed. Was in and out in less than 1.5 hours, which is impressive considering how many cars they were working on at the time.
Everyone was very friendly, honest, and professional. Overall it was reasonably priced and would definitely return/​recommend to others.

I took my car here to get a tire checked out that appeared to be losing air. They were very helpful even though I got there with only 30min left before the end of their business day. They took care of it right away and were very pleasant to deal with. I’d definitely use this shop again.

I was stuck on the side of the FDR with a broken tire and failed miserably at trying to slap on the spare. Google led me to this place and it was the best decision I could make. I was told they were not insured work on my car outside of the shop but after some explaining of my situation the owner joe came to my aide and quickly too. He helped me put on the tire and didn’t charge me a penny. I was stuck on the road for 2 hours and 6 minutes after joe came I was on my way. If you want to deal with good and honest people this is the place to go.

I inherited a car (a 2008 Saab) and this place is down the block from my apartment so I figured I would try them out to fix the couple issues that the car had. They are always busy so I figured they had to be pretty good.
A&A were extremely helpful. They conferred with me before doing anything to make sure I approved the price and procedure. They did not overcharge. They didn’t make up problems to get more money.
They were even able to fix the brakes that had previously been «fixed» several times. Long story short, my mom had the brake master cylinder replaced at least 2 or 3 times before I got the car, but the brakes were still going to the floor. A&A investigated until they figured out what the issue actually was — a faulty abs pump. They tracked down a replacement for me (since Saab went out they don’t make the part anymore) and installed it.
They were also very timely and always answered my questions.
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

My passenger window was side-​swiped and hanging on by a thread. Fortunately enough, I live on this street and passed A & A Motors every day but never before used it. I parked my car there that night. In the morning, I met with Joseph (one of the main mechanics) around 8:00. He called in, got the exact part around 1:00 and I had my car ready at 4:00 when I was home from work. $ 100. Quick. Convenient. Cheap. I’m very appreciative and I would recommend their business.

Had a nail stuck in my tire; had it taken out and plugged in 15 mins; Nice gentlemen.

we come here for everything from mundane service to insurance work when one of our cars get damaged. we’ve been customers of A&A imported for more than six years. everything from regular service to body work.
lynn at the front desk can at times seem a bit gruff, but she’s just honest about hat your car will need to preform at its best. some folks don’t like honesty. besides which she’s an animal lover who will teach you how to pet the shop mascot if you ask her. it’s a gorgeous bird who cocks his head like a puppy with an itch.
recently i got my car keyed on both sides and the top as cut, it’s an insurance claim. i asked joe (the owner) about color matching the scored panels to the ones undamaged. he told me you can’t really color match 9 years of sun damage, lack of wax… etc…
bottom line, i was distressed so i went to two other manhattan shops, they both quoted me lower prices but i kept thinking of the bodywork he did on my mom’s crv.
took a deep breath and left my car with him. today i stopped in to check the progress on my car, his son took me down the back stairs, as the shop was closed, and there it was.
other auto body shops or service places may wash your car or even detail it at no extra charge. they call it going the extra mile. today i saw three panels that weren’t keyed being sanded and prepped for paint. his son said, they did it because they had to, i’m assuming for color matching which now won’t be an issue since all the paint will be new.
let me be clear… they’re painting body parts they are not being paid to paint to make sure the overall result is perfect. i call that the extra mile. i’ll shampoo my own carpets because sure as hell i can’t paint my own car.

Super helpful guys got me in immediately when my car started making a random squealing noise. I did not end up getting work done with them as I had to leave town but they gave me good advice on the repairs and were very friendly and helpful, but also busy!

I just popped in to ask where I might purchase a set of feeler gauges (to set up my guitars). The guy was super-​helpful going so far as to phone a place on 125^th St to see if they had any. I got a set at the first place he sent me to. If this is the way a non-​customer gets treated, I would say that A&A will treat their customers like Royalty.
Nice Rolls Royce being serviced. But they do work for mere mortals’ vehicles too. The five stars are for their helpfulness — I don’t have an imported motor. But if I did…

These guys are honest. I needed bodywork after a fender bender and these guys reasoned that only 1 panel needed replacing, so it was pretty cheap to fix. I took it in for a «check up» and a new sticker and after looking the car over, they said all I needed was a sticker ($ 37 total). Both times, they could have said I need a «new this or that» but they didnt. For that, they get all my future auto repair biz.

They took good care of our car and were honest. Efficient front office.
Call ahead, though. They’re by appointment only, and busy.

These guys are awesome. I had a problem with my car which the dealer and another mechanic could not figure out. Within 5 minutes, Joe had it fixed. They are not the cheapest by any means, but they do a great job, and are trustworthy (a scary word in the this industry). If you have an imported car, i would trust Joe without thinking twice.
