They called it. All diners should be 3 star. It’s all we need and nothing more. Good service, I’m never looking for more coffee. Reasonable standard and priced food quickly delivered.

Never before has a place so lived up to its name. This diner is mediocre. It is fine. It is the three star diner.

Five stars for 3 star diner, friendly /family owned and run diner with positive energy and a wonderful Greek salad. I would usually go to another nearby diner but the NYC marathon made it impossible to get to so we tried this one. My son asked, why would they name themselves 3 star diner and not 4 or 5 star diner? Good question! So I asked: the business is owned by 2 brothers and a sister, thus«3 stars.» The hostess(wife of a brother/owner) and manager(son of an owner) were so positive and attentive. One of the owners was working behind the counter. I strongly support family run businesses and the positive energy and vibe — with smiles, enthusiasm and fun attitudes among the employees here was wonderful. Well, except our server who had a bit of an attitude, and even my son said was rude … His service was slow(it was busy w marathon traffic) but he seemed semi irritated and he didn’t know they had classic Greek dressing for their Greek salad and actually said they did not(I had to tell him to ask the manager who I had confirmed and discussed having the dressing before I would order the salad)… But, he only works there weekends so I’m not deducting a star — everyone else there more than made up for it . We had a delish fresh fruit salad. My cappuccino was great. And my Greek salad with chicken was WONDERFUL. I am particular about my Greek salads and have been disappointed many times so rarely order. But when I talked to them about being a Greek family owned business I asked the manager and hostess if they could make a good Greek salad and they nodded so absolutely confidently and it did Not disappoint. Requested chicken and also romaine not iceberg. It arrived as a huge salad with grilled chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, feta, olives, sardines(pass but easily removable)… And their home made house Greek dressing. Mmmmm! My son had a burger with two eggs, hash browns and toast; he’s picky and liked everything; I tried the hash browns which I am pretty particular about and they were great. They are open and deliver 24 hours. This is going to be my go to when I crave a fantastic Greek salad.

Was better last year, this year food was cold and food was overcooked. Felt bad for the owner for he needed new cooks but didn’t want to pest anyone. Service was confused, was much better last year. Overpriced fro a diner. Not really any reason togo, even the coffee was average fro a diner.

Great food and great service! Our group came for food in the wee hours of the night/morning around 4AM and our server was so friendly! You would think that at 4AM, the servers would be grumpy, but we were pleasantly surprised to receive such great service. The food was good, albeit not as generous as other diners. For example, not all the breakfast entrees included breakfast potatoes(bummer, because I love breakfast potatoes). The pancakes were good, though not the best. The Belgian waffles looked dry, but I think my friend liked them anyways. I’m curious as to why their name is 3 star diner. I mean, technically, I would give them 3.5, but hey, I’ll round up because seriously, this was a bangin’ experience at 4AM.

I used to come here all the time for some good old diner food for lunch when I worked in the neighborhood. Now it’s not the most convenient diner for me, but I used to be a regular there. Service here was great, I always had that one server who would take care of my boyfriend and I and he was very attentive and always knew exactly what we wanted before we even picked up the menu. I love their triple decker sandwiches. Food also comes out pretty quick which is appreciated since I had a time sensitive lunch break. It’s also pretty affordable considering it’s located on the upper east side and they’re open 24 hours! Great for all those people hanging out at the bars in the neighborhood and want some drunk people munchies.

I had a dinner in this place .I had East side salad which is served with salmon, mixed greens, chick pea and tomato. The salmon and greens were fresh. The chick peas was good too. Then, I had a blueberry pie and chamomile tea. The blueberry pie was. Ok and goes well with chamomile tea. The waiter was kind and keeping filling hot water in my tea. They open 24 hours which is very convenient for me. This is the one of the place where Ican have late dinner.

I used to go here all the time for breakfast and a late night snack(usually grilled cheese). Their breakfast deals are pretty good. Price wise, not too bad considering it’s on the UES.

3 Star Diner is down to 2 stars in this review. I’ve eaten here several times over the past 3 years & it’s really hit or miss. On my last visit I had to have my order corrected 3 times before the correct items arrived. The calamari was the worst I’ve ever had — no doubt from the freezer and nowhere near done. The room temperature«iced tea» was the cherry on top of this latest disappointing dining experience. The potential is there but not sure I’m willing to keep trying.

E-Scale: 5⁄10 It’s a greasy little local diner. I love it late at night but going during the day makes my hair smell(and my clothes). It’s cheaper to go to a bodega for a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. I do enjoy the belgium waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. Open 24 hours so I usually come here when I’m jet lagged at 3am.

Typical diner. It’s exactly what you would expect, nothing more. Used to come here in the morning after a long night for an omelette to get me back on my feet. That was all going fine and dandy until I had a massive«body hair» in my eggs. I told the waitress who apologized and brought me a new order. They’re always pleasant, but it always feels gross in there and the hair kind of did it in for me.

The food is delicious, this service is great!!! it is by far the best Diner on the upper east side!!! I recommend it to everyone! It’s a warm environment, like walking into grandmas house. It’s family owned and operated they treat everyone like family. It’s clean and bright. Service with a smile. Reasonably priced & there is always some left for tomorrow’s lunch :-) Daily specials are great!!! I can sit here all day and talk about how delicious the food is and how amazing the service is. You have to try it and see for yourself!!! :-)

Exactly what you expect. Nothing more, nothing less. Big portions. The owner is a riot and in traditional fashion, has his son(?) working as well.

Three Star Diner has a special place in my heart. I have had many 3AM nights out and about in Manhattan on the upper east side before stumbling into Three Star for a cup of coffee and my standard order of challah French toast. This is where I go at all hours of the night when I go to Manhattan. My sister first introduced me to to Three Star in 2007, and I haven’t stopped coming here since. They have pretty much everything you could possibly ever want. My husband thinks they have the best bacon and eggs in NYC. And I have to say, it’s probably true. I love diners, and love 24-hour establishments even more, and we don’t have them in OC, CA where I live most of the time. So I have a MASSIVE appreciation for Three Star. If I lived in manhattan full time, I’d be in here every day. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. If you live in the upper east, or even if you don’t, you have to try out Three Star.

The name says it all. This is indeed a 3-star diner, perfectly fine but nothing special. Pros: The kitchen is on top of things, churning out fresh food in no time flat. My burger was cooked perfectly, the patty obvious handmade. They DO take credit cards, contrary to other reviews. Cons: The waitresses are extremely blasé, and ours never checked on us.(The friendly bussers, on the other hand, hustle and keep the place spotless.) The coffee is thin and bitter. The booths squeezed into the space near the register are designed in a way that prevents anyone over 5’5″ from sitting there; avoid them if you’re an adult. Price are – what else? – average.
