2ND Time Around

Still haven’t been paid for my things that sold 6 months ago that I have proof of via their own website. I have stopped in and filed a formal complaint and I have also submitted one via their website. No follow through on their part what so ever.
Next on my list is calling the manager during my lunch break and then contacting the corporate office. If I don’t then receive my payment I will be taking further action with a police report and contacting the BBB. I have worked in retail for 10 years and we as NYCers have rights, that I don’t currently feel are being satisfied. Feel free to contact me directly if you would like to clear this up.

I am certainly not going to be offended if you don’t take the clothes that I don’t even want, but I WILL be offended if you treat me like a second class citizen for even considering bringing them in to consign. Would it pain you to do your job with a bit more of a smile and lot less of that condescending attitude? My designer clothes that no longer fit will GLADLY go elsewhere.
The funniest part is, my best friend was running the exact same errand at the exact same time at the 2TA in Center City Philadelphia, and had the exact same experience. Coincidence? Eek! Methinks not…

Decent selection but a bit too expensive. Some of the shoes in particular were expensive compared to other places and not in great condition. Also, agree with many of the other reviews here regarding the customer service, which wasn’t very good. Very unfriendly and unwelcoming staff. I’d try another location.

The worst!
First of all the people that work there could not be bitchier if they tried.
Secondly if you consign with them watch out because they have a tendency of ‘loosing’ your items

Great thrift store, good prices for high end designer merchandise, and clean.
Staff was very warm, not on top of you watching your every move, and constantly asking you if you needed help. I really liked the good vibes here. Will most definitely be coming back!

I really liked this place! Staff was very friendly and chatty and the selection was really good. I ended up buying a lovely spring green patent leather Marc Jacobs bag for a little over $ 100. The prices are a little high on some things, but still much better than retail. They had a gorgeous brand new Coach purse from the most recent collection for $ 230 (retail is over $ 400). It was well organized and the items were in really good shape. Many still had tags on them.

I happened to spot this while en route to a class. It is one of the few thrift/​consignment/​vintage shops in NYC with multiple locations that I had never been in before, and I was curious.
First, I will say it is very organized and not packed to the gills like many a NYC thrift. The problem is in what they have and how they price it.
They mainly have lower-​end high-​end lines (along with higher higher-​end lines), such as Marc by Marc Jacobs, and at prices that are definitely not worth it. Most of the stuff that I saw were pieces that were likely super trendy a few years ago – items that are really gaudy out of the context of a fashion craze (even in the context of one, but that’s my extreme opinion).
Point is there aren’t nice things, but things that seemed to be there not because someone had once loved the piece and had worn it so many times and wanted to relinquish it like one might old lover’s letters, but because they had worn it twice and realized how absolutely dull or hideous the item was. Also, they ask for ridiculous prices. If you are concerned about brands, just go to Century 21, Nordstrom Rack, and even Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. You can pay around the same amount, if not less, and have more options with things that may not be as much of a downer.

The clothing was in good to great condition and very well organized.
My rating is because the customer service was horrific! I walked in and browsed around for 20 minutes and selected a dress to try on. Neither of the sales girls said a word too me even while doing their rounds and talking to other people… Sincerely unimpressed. I let myself into a fitting room tried the dress on and left after 20 min of browsing and not so much as a have a nice day. Underwhelming.

Over our price limit, but looks well organized. Has lovely stuff, and a lot of it looked like brand names. No guys stuff, only women’s clothing.

For consignment:
They offer 40% on clothes then marked down again before donated. Not so bad but there are places that offer 50%. This store was nicer, although I haven’t shopped here. So, I chose to sell certain items here and another spot in the neighborhood.
They didn’t have attitudes like some of the other consignment stores I called. We only take channel, Prada, blah blah. I’m like «lady, if I own Prada– I’m keeping it»

Unfortunately, the staff here could not be more rude. The ladies were both unkempt and unprofessional. They were had me wait 25 minutes for them while they chatted with each other back and forth. They were not helpful and unattentive.

Given the store’s location on Madison Ave, they get a lot of classic pieces from high-​end brands consigned from people in the neighborhood. An earlier review that bashes the staff seems to be referring to the Lexington Ave location — my experience with the staff was fantastic.
Note: You are not allowed to reserve items or put anything on hold, but I called multiple times to make sure that an item was still there before I trekked to the UES, and they were patient and helpful in answering me. Finally, they gave me space to try on items without having to make a comment every time I stepped in front of the mirror.
Overall, I walked away with a few steals — beautiful, barely worn brand-​name blouses, jackets and shoes at a fraction of their retail price. Thank you STA!

Found a pair of NWT J Crew shorts that I’ve been looking for! Very nice selection.

Ok, yes, this place stocks a heavy assortment of great designer pieces– it’s loaded with Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, etc. HOWEVER, the prices are just a tad too high for consigned pieces, many of which are in not so great shape. Looking through the LV section, many of those bags had seen far better days and were priced $ 200-​$ 300 + more than they should be. I love supporting brick & mortar, but honestly if I want a better deal on authentic goods, I’m just going to go online, pay a more competitive price and avoid the sales tax! The other thing worth mentioning is that this place is small albeit, heavily staffed! When I was there, I counted six employees «working» there, one of which was an rather ambivalent looking twenty something guy working from a laptop on seating right in front of the door. None offered help. I prefer other consignment shops that truly offer great prices, sans attitude.

I stumbled into this place to kill some time before an appointment one day and was happily surprised by the selection and friendly staff. We were immediately made aware if the sale on specially marked items which was nice so I paid special attention to the colored stickers. I wasn’t really looking for anything specific when a pair of brown ankle booties popped out at me. I tried them on and they were perfect. The price also fit the bill as they were 40% off so I picked them up for a cool $ 44. As with any thrift store — you just have to be patient enough to look around and not get your hopes up. So far I’ve been lucky and with such a friendly staff — I’m sure I’ll be back to test my luck again.

One of the few consignment stores in the area which I find to be relatively affordable. But the selection is a hit or miss. It’s not like INA where you will find every imaginable high end designer label on this planet. Too bad the INA upper east side location has closed down this past summer, but I digress. At Second Time Around, you will also find things from Banana Republic, Theory, JCrew, etc. They have a lot of shoes but they all looked pretty worn out. In my opinion, if you have the money to spare to buy a pair of vintage Chanel shoes for $ 200 and the shoe looks tattered and beaten, you might as well spend the money on something else that is new instead. It also appears they have discounts all the time depending on the price tag color (i.e., pink =20% off). If you want to consign, you need to make an appointment and sometimes you won’t get an appointment until weeks later. The annoying part is they are not available to meet on the weekends so you will need to go during the weekdays, which implies I will need to take time off from my day job just to consign my unwanted items. Sounds a little pathetic, don’t you think?

Great clothes, great music, quality selection and very nice reception! I bought a beautiful dark green Salvatore Ferragamo bag for $ 120 !!! They are having a SALE right now so shop on!

I stop in here regularly to see the latest arrivals and am always impressed by the variety they carry– fab clothes + shoes and handbags.
There’s good people watching here, too– GO!
