Inspired by European men’s boutiques, 20 Peacocks is a shirt, custom shirt, tie and accessories shop specializing in distinctive items at accessible prices.

Ready-​to-​wear shirts under the 20 Peacocks label are tailored with old world workmanship but have a precision fit that’s slim and completely modern. And the shirts sport surprising details — like the subtle use of contrasting fabrics, buttons and stitching.

Custom shirts are made in either Hong Kong or Italy and allow for all the individual expression you can muster up.

Ties are fresh and lively and come in 20 Peacocks’ own line plus brands like Seaward & Stearn. $ 89

Accessories include magnetic collar stays, cufflinks made from watch works, and stainless steel wallets — because it’s all about the unexpected.

History

Established in 2006.

Here’s how 20 Peacocks was conceived. In Paris, on a mission to find good shirts at a good price, Mehdi (the shop’s first owner and creative force) wandered into something seldom seen in NYC — a shirt and tie boutique. When he lingered over a purple chemise with a three-​button collar and navy top-​stitching, the salesman offered this for encouragement: «il faut oser, monsieur». Translation: One Must Dare. He did, 4 years later, by opening a shirt and tie shop on the LES.

Now 20 Peacocks is undergoing it’s own makeover. Hillary Flowers is operating the brand from a new location on Madison Ave. She’ll focus on the custom shirts our clientele grew to love over the past seven years. And she’ll do it in the spirit of Mehdi’s inimitable flare.
