Deutsche Strasse is a uniquely charming bed and breakfast located in the beautiful German town of New Ulm, MN. We offer comfort, cuisine and coffee for those who reserve one of our guest rooms for an overnight stay. Perfect for the romantic, the casual traveler, or the business traveler, Deutsche Strasse provides the charm of a historic home but with modern amenities. All rooms have either queen or king sized beds, and some rooms have with fireplaces and hot tubs. We are located four blocks from unique specialty shops, restaurants, and attractions.

We offer specialty packages for whatever you’re in the mood for, be it romance or a winery tour. We also serve a complimentary glass of wine that guests often enjoy by the candlelit fireplace in the living room. We also offer complimentary Wi-​Fi.

History

Established in 1997.

Located along the historic district of New Ulm, the Deutsche Strasse (means German Street) Bed and Breakfast is the first successful bed and breakfast in New Ulm. The home had belonged to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was used as a rectory for 60 years. Gary and Ramona are the fourth owners of this home that was built in 1884 and renovated in 1917 to look as it does today. They have lovingly updated and decorated the house while maintaining the integrity of this historic home.

Business Owner

Gary and Ramona have been innkeepers since 1998 in New Ulm, Minnesota at the Deutsche Strasse Bed and Breakfast. This B&B is the first successful bed and breakfast in this charming town with strong German heritage. Gary’s energy and outgoing personality has earned him a few nicknames like «the Little German» (he is only 5’2″) as well as «Our Favorite Dumbwaiter.» Ramona’s breakfasts are homemade and she enjoys making breakfasts to accommodate special dietary needs. Their hobby is providing hospitality and comfort for guests from Minnesota, other states in the U.S., and also for the international traveler.
