Coconut Palms Beach Resort II

Awful. We had a timeshare and it was the worst. The place was dirty, like DIRTY. We found underwater and shoes from the previous family who stayed. We got one roll of toilet paper and one roll of paper towels while we were here. You can only get fresh towels Monday’s and Wednesday’s except beach towels which you get only one for the whole trip. For a three bedroom suite, we got 4 towels. We had two king size beds and two doubles but only 4 towels. Makes no sense. We were there and PAID for 8 days and 7 nights but left Early because it was awful. The «free wifi» is 12.50 $ per device. That’s ridiculous especially per device. I had homework and couldn’t do it. There was so many bugs and lizard/​gecko things in the apartment. The view is beautiful but it was so nasty. Between the dirty of the place and how expensive it was. Not recommended.

Eh. Barely any parking. Fun when its raining and have to park down the road and across the street for the royal palms building. Very musty smell in the unit. Sink started leaking like a water fall in unit 1301. Cracked tiles in the shower. Not impressed.

I’ll start by saying that the location is pretty good. It’s right on the beach, and if you have an ocean view room, that’s nice.
However, before we went, we noticed some recent reviews that mentioned that the wifi wasn’t working. So we called before we came. We were assured that the wifi would be up and running by the time we got there.
When we arrived, surprise! The wifi wasn’t working, They assured us that it would be fixed on Monday (we got there on Saturday).
Monday came and went. The internet was not fixed. One of the desk girls explained that it was inconveniencing them just as much as it was us. Hmm.
Actually, no. I was paying to be there. Paying for services, one of which was supposed to be wifi. Not even close to the same thing. She said they would let us know the second it was working. She never mentioned how they might notify us, since she didn’t know what room we were in.
The internet was never fixed during our entire 8 day stay. It was really inconvenient. My brother talked to a manager who said he was having trouble getting the company to come out and service it.
I have several issues with this.
1. If a service that has been promised is not being provided, you need to get proactive about communicating with your guests about it. Even if it’s just a sign in the lobby.
2. Train your staff how to respond to these types of situations with guests. Getting upset and saying that they are also suffering is not an appropriate response. This demonstrates a clear training deficiency on the part of management.
3. If you manage a resort, you are the one who has to impart the necessity of getting timely service from your vendors. Obviously management at the coconut palms II isn’t capable of doing that. This is a key attribute of all good resort managers, and whoever is running the CPII obviously does not have it.
The phone in our room was difficult to hear anyone on. The line had a lot of static. The message light was always blinking, even though we didn’t have any messages.
The mattress in the room felt like a mattress you might find on a pull out couch. I actually checked it because it felt like it was only four inches thick. If you sat on it hard, you hit the box spring.
All of the rooms have DVD players, so we rented a movie while we were there. Except, between the cable box, the tv and the dvd player, you need three outlets. But there are only two behind the entertainment center. I discovered I had to pull out the entertainment center, unplug the cable box and plug in the dvd player to watch a movie. I had to reverse the process to watch tv again.
Is this their plan? For guests to pull the entire entertainment center away from the wall every time they want to switch? It’s called a power strip…
After I plugged in the dvd player I discovered that they didn’t have a remote for the tv that would let you switch inputs. The button was hidden on the tv and you had to do it manually, which I guess isn’t really an inconvenience since I was already up there moving the entertainment center and switching plugs.
So while we had a pretty good time on our trip, it certainly wasn’t because of the reliability or the accommodations of the resort. Coconut Palms II, you are light years away from providing quality guest service.
Get some decent management and train your staff. I will never stay here again.
