This place is pretty far from where I lived in NJ, so I only got to visit once, but it was a really stand out experience for me. First of all, I’m a fan of good ice cream. I don’t eat a lot of ice cream and I am kind of picky about quality but there’s other factors that go into it for me too. For example, when I was in the Princeton/Hamilton area, I would often go to Halo Pub, as their ice cream is pretty solid, but the one thing that made me crazy about that place was how straightforward/traditional the menu was and how it never changed. On the other hand of the spectrum, I respect that people like Bent Spoon, but I just can’t get behind the levels of pretension at a place like that. In that sense, this ice cream joint was pretty perfect for me. It was lowkey and casual, very local and filled with families. The prices were very reasonable. But the ice cream we had was just fantastic. I had pistachio and it was a monster serving of some of the best pistachio ice cream I’ve ever had, loaded with real nuts and exceptionally satisfying. You can’t really ask for more than that from an ice cream place. The waffle cone tasted fresh and delicious too, bonus points there.

Popular, local place with homemade ice cream. Very delicious, especially their special flavors like Kong, Cookie Monster, Banana Cream Pie, etc — special flavors rotate though so they are not always offered. They have like 3 – 4 tables inside towards the back — everyone sits outside on the large patio-like area when the weather is nice.

Very good home made taste ice cream. After kid’s violin lesson, great reward and relaxing time at outdoor bench. Ice cream cupcakes also taste good, good for taking home.

Just a fun, local ice cream joint. Fun selection of about 30 flavors, which includes about 6 – 8 ices. They have chocolate/vanilla soft serve and fro-yo as well. They have your standard chocolate, vanilla, coffee, then they have seasonal flavors like pumpkin. They also have a variety of fun«mix-in» flavors with marshmallow, brownie, cookies, etc. The staff, while a little ditzy, was certainly friendly enough. The prices seemed quite reasonable. A cone and a small cup for $ 6. Parking is ample. During the warmer months, there is an outdoor window for service, and there is a large outdoor seating area as well. I wouldn’t call this a destination ice cream joint, but it’s certainly a fine local joint if you live nearby or have had a meal in the area. If memory serves, they used to close at 9, but it seems they’ve extended their hours to 10:30 – on the weekends at least.

Just stood at the counter for 10 minutes while one of the girls with dark hair in a blue shirt stood in the back and texted the whole time. Idk if she just couldn’t hear me call out to her or she was ignoring me. Walked out without buying anything

Flavor was good but cookie dough was just vanilla — no chocolate chips or cookie dough in the entire 2 scoop cup I had — definitely falls short for the price.

Good ice cream, but inconsistent portion sizes. A small cone looks like a kid’s serving and is over priced at $ 3. Better value at the Magic Fountain if you are willing to wait in line.

I got a small scoop of hazelnut chocolate chip on a cone($ 3) and it was very delicious! I love homemade ice cream and this place has quite a few special flavors. Worth trying and worth coming back!

There is nothing worse than an ice cream store that claims to cater to nut allergies and does the total opposite. The girls working here have no clue of what products contain nuts, and tell you products are ‘nut-free’, when in reality they are not. We had an extremely scary episode here and the girl making the mistake seemed absolutely unapologetic and actually irritated at us. The manager/owner seems adept at understanding food allergies, but there seem to be clueless people actually working there, making it a dangerous place to return to, if you do indeed have food allergies. They would be better off trying not to cater to nut allergic kids rather than risk serious reactions with their uninformed staff who don’t seem to care.

You can’t beat their ice cream cakes! Everyone in my family has always loved this places, especially when it comes to their cakes. With two days notice they will custom make them for you, we love the s’mores and the 91716 flavors. It is also perfect for a special treat on any given night. I have never had anything less than delicious here. The staff is always very friendly and quick. They have a good size parking lot and plenty of seating both inside and out. It is a great all around place!

Very good ice cream. First time here and we are glad we came. It’s in a quiet area, very nice. They have a lot of flavors and I tried at least 10 and they were all very good. This place is up there as far as quality with kilwins, cliffs and nastos in New Jersey . We will be back for sure !

Don’t even get me started on Zita’s. I come here way more than I, or my waistband, would like to admit. Their ice cream is always rich and delicious and the staff is helpful and efficient. They run that place like a well-oiled machine. Zita’s has a wide variety of flavors of both ice cream and italian ice and, although I’ve never gotten one, I understand that you can also order custom ice cream cakes. The prices are on par with the going rates in the area and for what you’re paying, you get a massive amount of ice cream. It can get busy at times but I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes. Just make note that they don’t take credit cards! And let me tell you, the day they do will be the day I go bankrupt…

I haven’t been to this place in the longest time, but it’s the perfect antidote for one of those sweltering evenings in the dog-days of summer. This is one of those old-school homemade ice-cream parlors(second on my list only to Nasto’s in Ironbound). Be careful for kids darting in and and out of cars when you pull up, and you’re gonna have to wait on line. But don’t worry, it moves like Usain Bolt. They offer all sorts of flavors, like bubble gum, peanut butter, red velvet etc. But my favorite has always been a coconut mix. They give some pretty hefty serving sizes too, so you get some real bang for your buck. In short, one of the best places in the area to cool off and wile away a lazy summer evening.

Ice cream: Four stars. Some flavors are probably avoidable, but some are really good. We all agreed that the smores ice cream is great. There are certainly other great choices as well. But definitely, absolutely, avoid the Italian ices. Those are 1 star and they drag this rating down.

Zita’s is a local joint that always has long lines during the summer with kids running rampant and parents mesmerized by the ice cream choices. Good news is the line moves quickly. You like chocolate covered pretzels, try the 91716… although the hype is bigger than the taste. The chocolate peanut butter, money! Red velvet cake ice cream, good but not great. The list goes on and on… I have not tried the s’mores but it will be on my list for next time. Enjoy!

«The best S’mores Ice Cream in NJ» is their claim to fame. But what if s’mores isn’t your thing? I am a cookie dough maven, gobbling up cookie dough ice cream whenever it crosses my path. When I order cookie dough ice cream, it’s already in my stomach before I’m even handed it. So Zita’s does a great job with that. They have a few waffle cones and the standard wafer. The rainbow sprinkled waffle cone is legit. They’ve got bounds of flavors, and I once tried the Red Velvet. It tasted like bloody milk, though some claim it’s amazing. Zita’s sounds like Rita’s and they are both in the area so do not let that trip you up, GOTOZITA’s. And utilize their outdoor seating, it is truly tranquil on a summer night! Unless there are screaming children throwing their ice cream at each other and then crying about(shouldn’t have thrown it in the first place, junior).

Zita’s is my favorite ice cream joint in my area. Their S’mores ice cream flavor was rated best ice cream in New Jersey a year or so ago, and whoever voted that one absolutely nailed it. Zita’s ice cream, no matter what flavor, is delicious and homemade. The flavors vary all the time, so there is always a wonderful slew to chose from. The serving sizes are big and the customer service is great. There is a great seating area outside — family fun for all!

Perfect dessert for after dinner, especially on a cozy summer night. My default is the coffee and pistachio and always satisfy my ice cream craving…
