Second time review this restaurant, food quality and service still the same, pretty busy this weekend, boss ‘s daughter have to set up the tables and cleaning the floor today ! Wondering why she didn’t call some waiters to do the jobs ! The sink in men’s room is leaking water very bad now, fix it to have a better image ! (Don’t just put the table cloth on the floor) this is against the Heath dept code ! Thanks for your attention !

Not sure what happened to Dim Sum Villa. Weekend lunch hours are usually super busy here, but that wasn’t the case on a recent Sunday. It was almost empty.
There were two carts — one with the steamed closed-​covered metal dishes and one with opened plates. The staff that was pushing the cart with the opened plates immediately came by as we sat down. Clearly, the dishes looked cold. The staff tried to persuade us to take some of the dishes. My mother asked if the dishes were hot. In response, the staff answered that they are definitely hot since they were just prepared and came out from the kitchen. Against our intuition, we gave her the benefit of the doubt and claimed 5 dishes from her cart. ALL 5 WERE COLD — WE WERE BLATANTLY LIED TO AND CONNED. The same staff kept pushing the same cart around for a bit and came by again, trying to sell us more. My mother mentioned that the previous plates were cold and that we have been deceived. In response, the staff didn’t know how to respond and just said sorry. The cart kept circling with the same plates with no new plates. I saw a new table being seated, and the staff immediately gunned for them. I wish I had warned the table, but it was too late. They ordered a plethora of cold dishes.
My question here is… Why tell such an obvious lie, where your customer can confirm the lie in a matter of seconds?
The cooked non-​dim sum dishes have also regressed. More bland and more oily. Did the chef leave?

I have no idea how people are giving this restaurant a good review. We did takeout and it was horrible… the worst Chinese we have ever had. Maybe the experience eating in the restaurant would be different but I doubt it. We will never eat at this restaurant again

Dim Sum was delish until I got the $ 60+ bill for two and me suddenly feels «Meh» to this place. If you haven’t experienced Dim Sum in Chinatown than you can completely ignore this mixed review. BTW I recommend you order their «Adidas» if you go.

I Wanted to like it but nope service was horrible! No dim sum carts. Just waiting and a 60 bill for 2 adults and a child for lunch. Doesn’t seem right for Chinese dim sum, right?

We tried our local dim sum restaurant and unfortunately the chef was away for the holiday. I searched for other places on Unilocal and drove 40 minutes to try this place.
We came on a Monday and they said they had dim sum all day, but there were no carts so we just ordered off a separate dim sum menu.
I’ve never seen soup dumplings on the dim sum menu, so that was a wild treat. The shrimp dumplings were good, though they didn’t have ginger or bamboo or any other extra besides shrimp, but it still tasted good. The shrimp wrapped in rice noodle was good, and their fried dough wrapped in rice noodle was one of the better ones I’ve had — crunchy, fresh, and not too oily. Loved their shrimp in eggplant and the meatballs were flavorful. The shrimp shumai however tasted frozen.
The pea pod leaves sautéed in garlic was excellent! We also got their salty fish and chicken fried rice and shrimp in scrambled eggs, which were basic and good.
Overall my hankering for dim sum was satiated here and even more so because the prices were way cheaper than restaurants up in northern jersey where I’m from. Good service too!

I would say this is one of the best dim sum places to eat in New Jersey. Most dishes I enjoyed from BBQ pork buns, sticky rice, to shrimp dumplings. They have a dish I usually order that they don’t push in the carts. It’s the green peppers with fish paste in black bean sauce. Occasionally, my family and I would come for dim sum as a alternative to New York Chinatown since the tolls went up in recent years. The food taste like Chinatown style cooking anyway so its worth the drive to New Providence. You don’t have to deal with the NYC traffic and tolls. You can get most dishes from NYC here also then I usually head to Starbucks across the street to finish off my meal. By the way, they serve bubble teas as well, limited flavors but they do offer it. The only thing I would change about this place is that they should open earlier than 11am. Maybe just the the weekends? I usually prefer eating Asian cuisine for breakfast and having to wait till 11am is a long time. Comparing restaurants to NYC they open a lot later than NYC. Most of them open early like around 8am which I love eating for breakfast on the weekends. Other than the time this place is top notch as far as food goes.

Wow! What a terrific surprise! Great place to go with a group but WARNING! Pace yourself… The food does not stop and this is very well crafted, hand made fare that is best eaten in many small enjoyable courses. The service is dim sum «ready, aim, serve», fast care! See it, wonder what it is or not, eat it! Do it again in 4 minutes and repeat until done… then, drink more tea, relax and in 16 more minutes you can try eating the things you should’ve waited to eat for desert, but ate first… because they look delicious and they were, too.
I am going back with friends again, soon!

Dim sum Saturdays are like, kind of a thing I do with my mom — we’d been going to a restaurant in West Orange for years, which was good but when she suggested we try a new (to us) place in New Providence, I was game.
Ladies and gents, we have our new dim sum place. The selection isn’t the widest, but everything is fresh and flavorful. One week we had soup dumplings from the cart — a quick chat with the owner let us know that we can order them a la carte as well. No more shlep to Joe’s Shanghai! We came here for Christmas dinner too, and there’s a small selection of dim sum on the dinner menu (no carts, obviously) — as well as some interesting types of noodles, like longevity noodles, which you don’t always find out in the burbs. Our waiter was patient and helpful with our questions about every noodle variation.
Oh, and they have something I hadn’t had before, I think it was called a ‘cream bun’ — it’s steamed and round and comes three to a steamer. The inside was in fact creamy and sweet, and I swear it tasted like Thai iced tea (though I don’t think that’s what was in it).

My family and I ate here tonight for dinner, and I’m very impressed. From appetizer to dessert, every dish was excellent. To top it off, we had amazing service. Our waiter (I believe his name was Jason) helped us decide on our entrees because it was our first time at dim sum villa. Also, he consistently checked on us throughout our meal to make sure everything was alright. Definitely coming back soon.

Came here on a Sunday noon with my newborn and hubby in tow. Owner was very accommodating and very pleasant. Seated right away. Food cart aunties were so nice and patient, they even tried to name things in English as best as they could. Crowd is mixed, lots of babies, old people, kids– very family oriented, of which I felt very at home. Yum cha favorites were har gow, sweet tofu, chive dumplings, shumai, and dan tat. I wanted to eat more but my baby needed a diaper change! Their bubble tea selections were selective and simple, which I prefer, because they were yummy. The décor is simple and yes, they use and change table cloths. I have a thing for places that use table cloths.(I’m fancy. Table cloths = clean experienced dining, no table cloths is just eating. not dining! my two cents.)

Since Golden Cantonese on 22 has been replaced and no longer serves dim sum, we decided to check this place out. The atmosphere is pleasant and spacious, unlike a lot of other dim sum places. The staff is very friendly and knows a little English. They also go over the dishes briefly if you’re not sure what certain things are. They make you feel at ease.
The food is great. We tried the soup dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shrimp shu mai, pork shu mai, shrimp flat noodles, turnip cake, pork short ribs, among many other things. The food and service is better than at canton palace.
The only thing is that the prices are also considerably higher. We expected the bill to be around $ 35 since we’re normally around there but instead it was $ 52+. The «small» category is $ 3.79/dish and «medium» is $ 4.50. They even charge for tea at $ 2.95 which was surprising.
We were set to come back before we saw the check. I didn’t even think to check the prices since it’s usually pretty standard, but the difference is significant enough for us to reconsider next time we’re craving dim sum. The place would’ve been 5⁄5 if not for that.

A great satisfaction for our Dim Sum craving. I believe this is the only game in town that serve Dim Sum. No waiting, no line, we came during the Labor Day long weekend. I like it located at the Mall Center. We can shop right after meal.

Having eaten here since they opened, I think these folks are really hitting their stride, both in terms of food and service offering a wide variety of tasty dim sum with friendly service. We were fans of Dynasty and have become fans of Dim Sum Villa. Now we usually enjoy lunch here at least once per week.
Reading some of the other reviews, I see that some people have become frustrated with occasional long waits on the weekend and certain holidays. Guess that’s what happens when you serve good food in a friendly atmosphere. When possible we come early or late and also do take out. Whatever it takes to get our dim sum fix! ;)

This place is owned and run by the daughter of the family that used to own Dynasty. That family has always been rude and nasty but I put up with it there because it was the only game in town for his type of food that I crave.
When Dim Sum Villa opened, I gave it a shot for the same reason, I will put up with a lot for good dim sum. The dishes were 30 – 40 percent more expensive than the local competitors, but it was worth it because the quality was high.
I even noticed that the staff were friendlier, and luckily I didn’t have to see the owners.
This most recent visit on a Saturday afternoon was very different. The dishes tasted like they were frozen and defrosted. The owner was around and seems to have a reverse discrimination thing going on for Asians. She is pleasant and conversant to Caucasian customers but didn’t even acknowledge me on the way in or out. I prefer this to the bad attitude I got at Dynasty!
This was my last visit here. I’m all about the food and won’t overpay for frozen dim sum from a rude owner.
Golden Canton on 22 is much better. Jade has mixed reviews but still several levels better than this place in terms of price, quality, and service.

Finally, an authentic dim sum restaurant in NJ!!! They have the traditional dim sum dishes from sticky rice, BBQ pork buns to shrimp, pork dumplings, shrimp rice noodles, green bell peppers with shrimp paste. They also have bubble tea and slushy drinks.
The best part is they actually push the dishes on the carts like the restaurants in NYC. I like to see what’s available before I select my dishes.
I came on Saturday at 11am. As I left, I noticed other Asian families coming in and the restaurant gets really busy. I definitely recommend coming off hours or early.
I giving four stars because the dishes were pricey. The dim sum dishes varies from regular price of $ 3.75 to premium price of $ 4.50. I’m used to the NYC prices of $ 2.50 to $ 3.25.

Fantastic Dim Sum! We went for Sunday brunch and were very impressed with the quality and variety of Dim Sum offers at Dim Sum Villa. Great soup dumplings, shrimp rice noodles, har gaw. So happy to find this place and not have to schlep to Chinatown in the city.

I am a dim sum rookie so have patience with me por favor. Went with a friend who eats dim sum once a month so I trust his expertise. After a meeting of the minds, general consensus ranked this place a 3 out of 5.
I can’t judge on presentation since we had take out. Food was good if you are craving dim sum but we concluded it was expensive for what it was. It’s good if you have a friend who is willing to treat (thank you Leo!) but if you are dinning on a budget this may not be the best choice.
Would I try again, yes of course but only if Leo is buying… haha!
Oh on a side note the bubble tea left a lot to be desired. The tapioca pearls were smaller than average and the liquid was blah. I threw away over half of mine, that says a lot for a gal who has been known to drive almost an hour for good bubble tea.

Dimsum restaurant outside of Chinatown.
Been here on weekend to try out some dim sums. food was good and service was so so except lady push a cart for different types of dim sums.
reason giving 3 out of 5 stars due to the followings:
1) My plate was full of chicken feet bones and pork bones, there was no waiter swapping a new plate. What kind of service is this?
2) Dim sum place always serve with tea. So I order Jasmine tea, surprisingly, they charged $ 2.95 just for the tea. I was like seriously? Never been charge for the same tea when I go to other dim sum restaurant.
3) Dimsum price: small $ 3.75, medium $ 4.50. Definitely over charged.
Food not particular good or bad just average.
Which this price i would rather to go cross the restaurant for half price sushi and still cheaper than dim sum.
