We’ve stopped coming to Fish Guy because of the super slow service even when it is not busy. I would give it a 5 star if it weren’t for that.

none of the reviewers here who gave this under four stars are worth listening to. no credibiilty to some terrible people’s opinions! this is the best seafood joint in town and those complaining that it isn’t on the water need to understand how much of FL is geographically not touching coastal waters. best food in town. my only advice to the owner is to stop talking politics to your customers. some of them are getting a little upset about it. you can talk to me all you want about anything if you keep making grub this good

The Fish Guy is definitely what Unilocalers are looking for! TFG is a cute, friendly café with a warm environment and extremely friendly staff. Sitting down for lunch, I felt like I was visiting with family. Jared greeted us and was our(and the whole dining room’s) server. Jared thoroughly knew the dishes, preparation, and cooking times. I was very impressed by his knowledge of the menu. Very engaging and polite, thank you Jared! The dining room is small so if the parking lot is full, expect a little wait. –it’s totally worth it. As for the food: delicious! I didn’t expect the amount of freshness and flavor that I received. Per Jared’s suggestion, we ordered the #2(Grouper, shrimp, and scallops) –blackened. It… was…awesome. We also ordered the cheese curds and Asian wings Apps –also great. Even our kids cheeseburgers were good(and big for kids burgers). Very affordable for great food, which is exactly what Unilocalers like me look for! 2 Appetizers, 2 kids meals, drinks and a combination platter for under $ 40…BOOM! We’ll be back here again, and again.

Ate here for the first time last week after seeing it on Unilocal.Every table was taken except, lucky for us, a table for two. The fact that it was jammed on a Thursday, with a large party waiting for a table and several people waiting for take-out orders, tells you something delicious is happening here! Fish Guys, Rich & Jim, a father and son, have something pretty special here. They switch back and forth between the register, take-outs and the kitchen. The Fish Guy is in a renovated house with plenty of atmosphere. Jake does a great job cooking and Dann was cool, calm and fun running between tables and the kitchen area. Somehow he managed to keep iced tea glasses filled and chat with customers while bringing fresh dishes and taking away used ones. I had the #2-Grouper, Shrimp & Scallops dinner with sides of homemade Cole slaw and sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious! The breading was just right, not falling off or too heavy. The fresh flavors of the seafood were the star. The serving was so large that I had enough for my lunch the next day. My husband had the Grilled Grouper dinner with cole slaw & fries. The grouper was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I can’t forget to rave about the Gumbo! It was as close to a delicious New Orleans étouffée as I’ve had since I was in Nola last! My husband’s clam chowder was also very good, but nothing will stop me from ordering the gumbo again! Go to the Fish Guy, whether it’s to dine in or take out or to buy some fresh fish to cook at home. You will soon say it’s your favorite fish joint!

Super cute place. Very small, but friendly atmosphere and I just ordered take out. I got the Friday special BOGO fisherman platter buy one get 2nd half off. It was good, but the sides were in super tiny containers, but you could tell they were homemade, just wish I got more. Super delicious, not greasy and provided tarter and cocktail sauce. Feel it’s a tad pricey, but food was so fresh I’ll go back for sure!

I passed by the store countless times but thought it wasn’t near the ocean so how good can the food be. I was so wrong. Ordered to go lobster bisque, crab bisque, Mahi — Maui dinner and the Super combo. All the food was cooked to perfection. fried and crispy on. the outside and juicy on the inside. Not only do they cook the food for you u can get it raw to take home n cook your special recipes. Definitely a must go again when I can.

Wow! Searching for a REAL Seafood Place that sells and cooks fresh fish, that isnt a fast food chain and worth the trip was found! This place is small, quaint, spotless and the staff there is fantastic! The owner is so friendly and says people come from all over for his food. He wasn’t lying… We would definatly drive ANYWHERE to get this food. My husband ordered the Cod fish sandwich with fries and corn on the cob. I ordered the fried Oyster sandwich with the homemade coldslaw and 5 bean salad. While waiting we had mozzarella sticks. Appetizer came quickly was so fresh hot, and good. Very cheesy with great warm marinara sauce. I wasn’t able to get a picture or taste of my husbands cod fish but it looked fantastic and i did try a fry and it was great. My oysters were cooked and seasoned well, they were also huge. Homemade coleslaw wasnt tart or overseasoned, but fresh and creamy. As well as the 5 bean salad. The decore is beautiful with different sauces and seasonings that can be purchased. Beautiful sea decore and a to choose from to select a huge variety of fresh fish. From fish, gator, frog legs and more! Owner said to tell a friend. Im telling EVERYONE. Get over to The Fish Guy. Yoyr bucks will definitely be well spent. Its very inexpensive and worth a treat to yourself. Awesome job guys. we’ll see you again soon! Bucks well spent here.

We live in the area, and having driven past here many times we thought to try it. Upon entering we saw a counter with staff behind it and behind them, running the length of the establishment were a line of freezers. I asked the staff if the crab cakes were made fresh there. and was assured that they were, but, after ordering them, I watched as the staff took them frozen from the freezer and then proceed to cook them. The fish my partner ordered was also taken from the freezer and cooked fresh while we waited, as were the French Fries. It was a very disappointing meal, one I could have done better going to WinnDixie and had«Mrs. Paul’s» do much tastier and cheaper. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Oh and a more helpful picture of this place would be one f the wall of freezers in the place!

We visited The Fish Guy on 11÷7÷2015 for dinner. The food was very tasty. I give the food five stars easy. We both ordered the fish, shrimp, and scallop plate. She had hers grilled and I had mine blackened. Both were delicious! Where I knock off two stars are for the environment inside of the restaurant and for the beverages. If you are a soda drinker, know that your soda comes in a can. I didn’t ask, and I only had one, but I imagine that you are charged per can you consume. I would love to have fountain drinks here. The second star is for the environment. There’s a front area and a back area to sit in. The back area is much warmer and there was a haze back there. The haze and heat are because the kitchen is literally part of the room. Because of this, we sat in the front room, where it was much cooler and the greasy air was not as prevalent. As soon as you walk in, if there is a strong, distinct odor of grease from fried food in the air. The smell stuck to us and we could smell it on our skin and clothes hours later. Should The Fish Guy get some serious air circulation and grease traps, and a side fountain, this place would be five stars across the board.

I was trying to find a reason not to give this place 5 stars, but I couldn’t. Everything was delicious! Everything! We started with the calamari appetizer(of course). It was fried perfectly. There was a bit more breading than I would prefer, but there was still great balance of breading to calamari. It had the right amount of seasoning and the marinara complimented the calamari very well. Then we had the gator bites. The gator was very tender and not fishy at all. Once again, just the right batter balance and seasoning. Served with remoulade. Next, crab cakes. It’s hard to believe that they can sell 2 crab cakes the size of theirs for $ 8.99. I say this because this is a true crab cake; no fillers. Just real crab meat. Served with remoulade. Cooked perfectly. Next, fish tacos. When these arrived at our table, I was initially disappointed to see the fish taco dressed like a traditional taco with lettuce, tomato and cheese; especially since they have very good cole slaw. I expected there to be fish, slaw and cilantro like many of the great fish tacos I’ve had before. It was served with a sort of home made tartar sauce on the side. The tortilla shell was lightly toasted on the grill. To my surprise this thing was slammin! The fish guy really knows his stuff. The food was so good that we ordered gator bites, buffalo shrimp, lobster bisque, gumbo and crab soup to go! The fish Guy greeted us when we arrived, checked in with us while we ate and chatted it up with us as we left. Make sure you check him out if you’re in the area. You’ll be impressed.

The service and atmosphere was nice, but I was very disappointed to receive previously frozen shrimp when I ordered the ½ lb shrimp basket from a FRESHSEAFOOD market. I will not be back. Mushy, vitamin enhanced shrimp are not for me

The Fish Guy is a very casual, relaxed and cool seafood-restaurant with a just as casual and cool interior. Service is excellent with, once again, cool and casual staff who seems to have a great team spirit. I ordered the grilled shrimp and scallops with sweet potato fries and coleslaw and the shrimp was absolutely excellent; some of the best I’ve ever had! Scallops were good, but not terrific. Sweet potato fries were flaky and well seasoned. Overall a really good experience; I had nothing to complain about at all!

Best local seafood from Florida we had. I had the coconut shrimp with fries and coleslaw. My shrimp had this amazing pineapple based dipping sauce that was so flavorful. My husband had the #2 Grouper, Shrimp, & Scallops with potato salad and pasta salad. Our meals were hot, fresh & best we have had since we moved to Florida. Staff was nice and helpful. They gave us various sauces to try with our meal and explained how they were prepared. From cocktail sauce, tartar, to a special blend they do in house that taste good with everything. We ended up on first name basis by the time we finished. It’s such a laid back place just walk in and hopefully find an open seat because it gets packed for lunch. I love this place and will be returning for more seafood soon.

The nicest people I have ever encountered in the food industry. Seriously. A very casual environment with resort-style hospitality from the younger guys working there(only way I can perfectly compare it since I travel to a lot of hotels/resorts). They have always been happy to help, happy to be there, and super quick with refills. I always order the same thing: coconut shrimp, sweet potato fries, and pasta salad. They have some sort of magical fryer for the first two items. Always perfect. Yeah, sure, so the fries are frozen. Whatever. They taste better than I could ever make them. There are nostalgic and hard to find sodas which is always exciting and a great compliment to comfort food. We took home some of their homemade bisque and it was delicious. Got clams for a special occasion… also great. Went back quite a few times shortly after we first came here. It was that wonderful! But then we unfortunately realized that you cannot live on fried shrimp — which really IS unfortunate.
