We are a Victorian style Bed and Breakfast in the heart of the bustling village of New Paltz. We specialize in hospitality and food service. We cook a delicious, diversified and satisfying breakfast for you every morning you are here. We welcome friends and family to come join you for b’fast for a nominal fee. We are able to do small dinner parties, luncheons, social gatherings and more! Arrangements must of course be made in advance. We have had small weddings, baby blessing, Christmas parties and more at the Inn. We are within walking distance of lots of great shops, Samuel Dorsky museum, Hugenot Street with its old stone houses and lots more great food.
History
Established in 1999.
The Inn at Orchard Heights originally opened as Orchard Heights Guest House. We lived with and cared for well aged people (88 plus) whose families were looking for an alternative to a nursing home. Our elderly family was part of our family. We ran the guest house for two years before transitioning to the hospitality business. Having met at Mohonk we knew we wanted to team up for a run as «hoteliers». Our Victorian Bed and Breakfast Inn was a private home all of its’ life before we bought it in 1996 and opened up for business in 1997. Together we built the business from the ground up. We are celebrating our 15th year at the Bed and Breakfast as ambassadors and hosts for the many people coming to visit and to make a life here in the beautiful Hudson Valley!
Meet the Business Owner
Janet G.
Business Owner
Janet has always been a people person. After earning her Associate’s degree, Janet graduated from a Travel Career Training School and went right to work in the hospitality industry at Tierra Verde Island Resort, an upscale timeshare waterfront resort in St. Petersburg, FL After spending several years in Property Management there, she went out to Santa Fe, NM and took the position of night manager of a 212-room Best Western for 3 years. Janet returned to her roots in NY and settled in the Hudson Valley. She met her husband Darryl while working in «the Gunks» at Mohonk Mountain House, where she earned the 1st-ever Employee of the Year award! Janet & Darryl then went to Thousand Oaks, CA, and cared for «Dos Perritos,» a 75-acre ranch & its well-aged owner til her death. They ultimately returned to NY for 2 more live-in elder care and estate management positions before opening Orchard Heights. And the rest as they say — is history!
