P&G’s Restaurant

Stopped by this place on a weekend with a couple of friends after a hike. We were seated quickly and orders were taken. I was disappointed that steak was not available until 4pm which is when their dinner menu is in effect; it was 3:30 for the record. We all ordered burgers and requested meats to be cooked to our personal liking (i.e medium rare, medium, and well done). When we got the order, the meats were not cooked as requested; a medium-​rare meat was cooked to well-​done… and one of my friend’s burger was wayyyy too charred. The rest of the burger was good; I really liked the bread that used for the Father’s Day burger special. The sweet potato fries, which cost a dollar extra was absolutely delicious but the white sauce it was paired with was lacking in flavor. Service was good. Good place to go for a quick bite, but food is average.

I have came here now twice. The first time the food was not good whatsoever, but I gave them a second chance and came again the other day. That is my last.
Each meal I have ordered from here, in simple terms, has not been good food. It is bland and just is not worth the money. I have left each time disappointed I had to pay for the food. The only decent thing they make is a salad, and even with that the meat does not taste fresh and the dressing tastes watered down. They couldn’t even get mashed potatoes right.
I love good flavorful food, and this is just the opposite. As a bar they do great, but as a restaurant they need to improve.
There are so many great places to eat in New Paltz, and this is not one of them.
I will say that the service is great the times I have been here.

Worst service ever! It wasn’t very crowded when I came there, but all the servers were running around like they were very busy. I tried to get attention from one of the server and she acted like I was invisible while kept running around. I patiently waited for 15 minutes and finally got attention from another server who pointed me to another bartender, who said I was too late to order food. So I kindly went away and she called me back apologizing for having me wait and said I could order food. So I ordered, she took my money without asking if I wanted a receipt, which I forgot as she didn’t ask. I waited for another 15 minutes, another server came giving me my order and having no clues what I did order or whether or not I paid. She asked another bartender who didn’t take my order and came up with the conclusion that I didn’t pay. I tried to explain that I paid to another bartender, so they let me go. And once again, they called me back as that was the wrong order and blamed me for picking the wrong one !!! I don’t know how long they’ve been in business. How come they didn’t know how to appoint their servers the right tasks so that everything can run smoothly, which, I think, is just a basic thing every restaurant is supposed to figure out since the beginning? Very disappointed and insulted by them!

Came here after hiking (and getting lost) at Mohonk Mountain. Wasn’t expecting anything more than just your normal bar and grill type of food, but I was extremely surprised. We were told that there was a 45 minute wait for a table of 2. We accepted, and sat at the bar for a drink to wait. Ten minutes later, we had our table already.
We ordered their specials, a 16oz prime rib and the swordfish. I’m struggling to find the words to describe how satisfied we were with both meals. They came with a choice of soup or salad, which was so great. The NE clam chowder may have been the best I’ve had since visiting Boston. But the prime rib… UGH! So good, and cooked perfectly. I ate about half and threw in the towel. It made a great dinner the next day.
I really could not give them anything less than a perfect 5 stars. It was our favorite dinner date and we will be sure to come back.

This was my first visit here and I definitely would be coming back again very soon. Came with a group of friends and ordered one of their newest sandwiches. It was a chicken, avocado, spinach, and pesto sandwich. Very tasty and filling along with the baked sweet potato side which most restaurants don’t have. My group of friends also loved their food which ranged from the garden burger to ribs.
Overall, the service was wonderful, food was very well worth the price, and atmosphere was great.

P&G’s hits all the marks: great prices, wide menu variety, good drinks, huge portions, clean, and friendly service.
The food is solid. It’s not necessarily mouthwatering, dream-​about-​it-​all-​week type of food, but really great American pub food that hits the spot.
We had a great dinner on a quiet weeknight but I can just imagine how busy it can get during the weekend!

Resonablely priced great American food the burger with fries is absolutely amazing. The service is quick and nice. It is definitely the best pub in town. If you’re looking for a place to eat this is it. But don’t bother on a weekend because it is always packed. Maybe check out Bacchus instead.

Very good and fresh food. We started with hot wings for an appetizer, they were pretty hot but cooked properly with no fat, really good! I got the Cajun chicken with chipotle mayo and a sweet potato and it was so delish! The chicken was freshly grilled and juicy and the sweet potato was perfectly cooked. My boyfriend got the P&G Mixed Grill (half rack of ribs, grilled chicken, and jumbo shrimp with pasta, asparagus, and a side salad ALL included) for only $ 19! Very good and everything seems to be home made. The fresh bread in the beginning is everything! Overall I was very pleased and will be returning here for sure!

Good bar food. Very very child friendly. Cold beer. What else can you ask for?
The service was really really nice. We have a 1 and a 3 year old, so we are not the easiest party to serve. We got the party platter appetizer and a burger for adults to share. Honestly, the wings were ok, but not traditional buffalo wings (we ordered ‘hot’ not sure if buffalo is a different order??). The mozz sticks and poppers were both very good for what they are. The burger was nice
Kids got a hot dog and a Mac and cheese. They liked both. Both came with more than enough fries for the adults to have some.
Overall very good, comfortable, and nice to the kids. Solid place for a basic pub meal.

I’d say the food is pretty good, kind of average. I do love the calamari though. I usually have a fine time there but on a very specific occasion our waiter was incredibly neglectful and after having to wave him down just to get some water, we waited until our meal was basically done before he got around to it. It wasn’t a particularly busy day, and we saw him leaning on the bar and chatting with the bartenders most of the time we were there. It’s usually not that bad though. Reasonably priced for what you get there.
The night life is a different story though. We always have a good time there although the DJ sometimes plays a little too loud for such a small dancing area. But the drinks are always cheap and it’s easy to have a fun time.

Great hometown pub. Food is consistently good as is the service. We have been going there for years and never had a bad meal.

Add two stars if you’re into sports bars!
Appetizers were good and so was the hard cider I tried.
Not a place that caters to vegetarians ;)
Late night it’s a very hot spot and there’s are
big crowds in and out – to the point where
they spill out into Main Street!

I’ve been here twice after a long hike in the new paltz area. Food is pretty good and after a long hike a nice grilled chicken sandwich on a multirain bun is what I need. The atmosphere is also very lively.

Started with a cup of New England Clam chowder, and it was very good. Very creamy, and chunky almost had a smokey taste to it. If you want a big portion to fill you up get it in the bread bowl. Prices are what you would expect at a bar/​restaurant burgers and sandwiches under $ 10, pasta and main entrees $ 15 and less. Ordered a burger medium with provolone and bacon. Burger was cooked fine, only one slice of bacon on top and cheese could have been melted more. Sweet potato fries were good and came out piping hot. Service was on the slow side.
Ok burger, ok service, makes this an a-​ok spot to come for some grub.

This is your typical rustic townie bar. It is full of life and always crowded. There is a huge difference between night and day though.
DAY: bring your family, have dinner and catch up with old friends.
NIGHT: party, dancing, loud music, college kids.
I know both parts of the spectrum. This is a great place to go out and drink at night with friends. They have $ 5 pitchers, how could you possibly go wrong with this?

Well it’s definitely busy on Saturdays! Make reservations but before 5pm. Majority of us got the $ 16 for 16oz prime rib meal. It was cooked well and the sides were delicious. Good amount too! Only disappointing thing was the seafood platter that came out with a perfectly rectangular fish stick from the freezer just deep fried. I think they can do better than that. Waitress was awesome and very attentive for a busy night.

Food is decent. atmosphere is better during the day. Way to many drunk people at night.
Fish tacos were alright not the best, pulled pork too much bbq sauce. Salad Portion was huge and fresh

Typical sub-​par bar food. Typical bar environment. Not sure why they call it a restaurant. I was seated at a table behind a low wall that served as benches and I still felt as though I was in a bar. The decorations are most suitable for a bar.
Although the service was helpful and sweet!

We came here on a night when they had two for $ 20 meals, hubby and I got wings and I got a burger and he got a Reuben. Restaurant was packed because of this special, I believe. We were greeted warmly by waitress Jeannine, her service throughout the meal was excellent. Our drinks were brought quickly, great selection of beers on tap. Reasonable prices for the beers too. The wings were delicious. Huge, plentiful, and very tasty. I also ordered a dozen clams, they were so fresh. Loved the cocktail sauce too. Burger was great, but the standout was the onion rings. OMG, they were so good. Also between wings, clams, and onion rings, I had to bring home ½ of my burger. It made a great lunch the next day. We’ve been coming to P & G’s for years, you always get great service and wonderful food.

The onion rings and burgers were pretty tasty. Also a great deal, Monday is 2 for $ 20 (1 app and 2 entrees).
CONS: The booths are a bit tight. The bathrooms are kinda gross and a glance at the kitchen is not pleasing to the eye.
