Came from Dallas to see the Fam for the holidays and headed over for some male-bonding time with Dad and the brothers… Showed up to bagels, coffee, and a warm fire going. Pete met us, we jumped into some jacked-up Golf carts and went shooting. I’m telling you to have Pete show you around. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable doesn’t begin to describe him. Overall a great time: get some people together(women too-a 12 gauge isn’t going to knock anyone down) and spend some time up there. It’s like Mini Golf with shotguns. Recommended.

This was it. The moment my whole life was leading up to. Was my time playing Duck Hunt as a child part of a «wasted youth» as some adults contended, or was it all in preparation for this… my arrival at Mid-Hudson Sporting Clays in New Paltz, NY. After some short but extremely useful instruction from our instructor Keith(at least I think it was Keith… hard to hear over the constant sounds of shotgun shells exploding… I hope I got it right since the man was on the Royal British Shooting Team), I was firing at clay disks in varying positions and stations. And if I may say so… I was fairly AWESOME. There are few things I’ve done that were as enjoyable, satisfying, and fulfilling as «playing» sporting clays at this range. The satisfaction of watching the disk explode mid-air is hard to discribe, and I’m not going to waste my time trying. Grab your shotgun and head to Mid-Hudson Sporting Clays… you’ll be surprised at just how awesome YOU can be too. But until then, get practicing on that vintage Duck Hunt…
