We’ve Got Soul uses local ingredients that our chefs pick out with their own hands every Tuesday at the Crescent City Farmer’s Market. The menu changes weekly and is crafted by what is in season, insuring the diner gets the freshest, most creative, soul food possible.

History

Established in 2012.

Chef Tres Barnard started out like most chefs, washing dishes as a sixteen-​year-​old in Oxford, MS. Within six months, he was managing the place, and quickly realized he wanted to pursue a culinary career. Accepted into Delgado for Culinary School, his dreams were delayed due to Hurricane Katrina. So he moved to Denver, where he worked at Cherry Hills Country Club (the 13th best ranked country club in the nation) underneath Certified Master Chef, Daniel Scannell, and Certified Executive Chef, Joe Piazza. Eager to return to New Orleans, he came back in 2010 and proceeded to work for Brennan’s, K-​Pauls, and the Royal Sonesta. Then in 2012 he decided to open his own adventure, We’ve Got Soul.

Tres started saving every extra dollar in the old orange juice bottle (that is now our tip jar) to start We’ve Got Soul. As soon as he saved enough pennies, We’ve Got Soul began popping up out of Marie’s Bar (2483 Burgundy) every Friday night. WGS focused on a thoughtful, soulfully inspired menu that
