I have been here twice. It takes me more than 45 minutes to an hour to get here via public transport. The first time I came with a groupon, was okay. They have one chair, so my friend and I had to shuffle around, and it took 4 hours for mani/​pedi. the second time I had an appointment and I arrived early only for Edie to tell me she cancelled my appointment because I did not confirm.. The reason you make an appointment is to have one. For her to cancel without me knowing is ridiculous. She said she tried twice to call me but she couldn’t reach me.. The only reason it should be cancelled is if there is an emergency on their part or if I cancel. Since she could not reach me, she should have known that I would keep the appointment.. This made me waste more than 3 hours out of my day off, which are precious.. Edie never apologized. I will never go there again and would not recommend this place to anyone.. Very unprofessional.

Really sweet, quick and helpful. Can’t beat the prices. my only qualm was that she refilled the stick in the wax which is pretty unsanitary. She didn’t do that with the bikini wax stick so that’s good. Afterwards she was kind and helped me find more small ingrown hairs and also gave me some soothing oil for afterwards. I will be going again.

One of the most difficult businesses to locate and remain satisfied with the services provided are those that provide for manicures and pedicures. Since discovering the pleasure of these particular services years ago I happen to be a man that does indulge on a regular basis. All but the «Pick Your Color «aspect of the encounter is for me. Over the years I have also attempted to recommend my male friends to these places with partial luck. For some reason many men think it is not manly to get a manicure.
The experience has been wide ranging here in New Orleans. From the places I contend are nothing but a cattle call to better places that seem to start positive but decrease in services over time.
One of my pet peeves is the waiting. Recently I thought I found a great place and was a regular customer. Unfortunately the service and time spent waiting and waiting, even after being seated, was not good.
Although I have used Vanity Salon only one time I am won over as a customer. And I intend to be a regular. It is a small operation with one person doing it all. She is the owner, aesthetician and a nail technician. She takes care of business in a no rush environment and very professional.
There is a hairdresser that also provides services at the business. A very nice young lady but I will never have the need for what she does. Only because I don’t have hair above the shoulders.
Facials and other services are provided and I was informed that a back facial can be done. Something that is not done in many places but one of my favorite treats for myself.
Parking is no problem in the area and there are so many different businesses to enjoy on Maple St.
Besides the professional and detailed services provided the one thing that won me over is the way the business is maintained. And that is the fact she takes reservations. Not only does she operate with reservations but she holds firm to them.
So if someone shows up late she does not push you back when you show up on time. This is a very big plus for me. Now there is no more waiting when I need that manicure or pedicure. There is no rush in the procedure and you receive a professional and thorough service.
The place is not fancy dancy and she only services one person at a time. So going with your spouse or friend is not going to allow you to sit side by side. Giving the sitting side by side up for a reserved time and no long wait for the services is worth going to Vanity.

Edie is the real deal. She is a trained aesthetician and nail tech so everything is done professionally and with perfection.
You can tell she is genuinely passionate about her work and it shows.
My daughter and I both received great manicures and pedicures.
Great polish selection too! She took her time and was very thorough– way more than any other pedicure I have had in the area.
The salon also offers spray tans, facials, etc and there is a resident hairdresser.
Vanity is a tiny salon located in the same building as the cute boutique Em & Liv. Coffee shops and lunch spots all around too.
Her prices were extremely reasonable (prefers cash) and we will definitely be back.

Do NOT buy the Groupon for this establishment. I have called 3 times since buying the Groupon and one of the first questions she asks you is «Do you have a Groupon?» and then suddenly she is «very booked». Coincidence three times? Probably not.

I had the same experience as L W’s friend. I was running late and my GPS said I would arrive 15 minutes late, so I didn’t think to call, although I should have. I was so focused on trying to get there as close to my appointment as possible. But of course when you are running late everyone in front of you drives 10 miles an hour, and the construction on Carrollton delayed me a lot more than I anticipated.
When I finally parked and found the right place to enter the salon from, I was half an hour late. I completely own that it was my fault for being late, but it’s the way it was handled that will make me never return.
Edie told me that she called the number I gave her as a good contact number. Well, I never gave that number to her as my call-​me-​the-​day-​of contact number. I had called from it when making my appointment and it’s my work phone number. I can’t remember if I gave her my cell, but if she had asked for a contact number I never would have given her my work number for a Saturday appointment. But she insisted that I gave her that number.
I too was unable to reschedule and she kept mentioning the 24 hour cancelation policy. I didn’t know that they could only handle one customer at a time. I wish this information would have been shared up front, because I probably wouldn’t have purchased the Groupon knowing this. Again, being late was my fault but the way she handled it and the fact that they have such little capacity will keep me away. There are cheaper places with easier parking, more nail artists, and better service, and many that take walk ins.

I had bought a Groupon for a pedicure. I called on Monday, and Edie was able to schedule me for an appointment for Wednesday. Edie did a wonderful job and kept me informed the entire time of what she was doing. Very friendly and nice. Thanks Edie!

This place is terrible. The worst service I have ever experienced. I live in Seattle, and purchased a Groupon (mani-​pedi) for a friend in New Orleans to cheer her up after a hard week. She had never heard of the place, and when lost trying to find the location she called the business multiple times. No one answered. She finds the place and walks in 20 minutes late and the owner (?) would not honor the Groupon because she was late. The owner said she had 1.5 hours blocked off for the mani pedi and since her «time was wasted waiting» for my friend she refused to even reschedule her for another day?!?
She could have AT LEAST used the last hour to do an express job (maximize the time left) or offered to do either the manicure or the pedicure but offered NOTHING. I hesitated to support this business based off the terrible reviews but took a chance and shouldn’t have. I hope nothing but the worst for this business they should know bad reviews spread 10x faster than good so here’s my contribution.

I’ve been coming to Edie for pedicures for about two years now. She is so sweet and does an excellent job with my toes. Great choices of OPI colors and a nice little salon.

I had an absolutely great experience with Edie at Vanity Salon & Spa! I called a few days ahead and she was able to fit me in over the weekend that fit my schedule even though she was very booked up. On the day of my appointment I called her to tell her I was running 10 minutes behind schedule due to car trouble and she was super sweet and told me she would not mind rescheduling or coming in for just the pedi and coming back at another time — her flexibility and dedication to honoring my time and the customer scheduled after me was a true all-​star customer service move in my book. I made it the appointment and she got right to work. This was one of the best mani/​pedi experiences I have had because the entire time Edie and the stylist were sweet and fun to talk to. Since I wasn’t getting any polish Edie was able to fit both services in my allotted slot without running into the next customer’s appointment. A++ for the services, the customer service and bringing a smile to my Saturday afternoon. Thanks Edie!

See how the owner is always so quick to negate her customers unsatisfied remarks? It’s that business philosophy that has caused this place to go out of business… honestly, it’s for the better.
My experience there were bar-​none the worst experience I’ve ever had at a place of business so I’m glad to know that Vanity has kicked the bucket and can’t rip off (literally) anyone else.
The owner desperately needs to take a class on hospitality and possibly learn a thing or two before diving into another business venture. It’ll be for her own good. Good riddance!

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!
I had the WORSE experience in my life just talking on the phone with the owner of the business. I recently brought a groupon for this place and needed to cancel my reservation due to a family issue; when I called to cancel or reschedule my appointment, I was called horrible names such as: bitch, dumb, evil, and stupid. The lady spoke these names to me on the phone and said that she could have filled that spot with someone else and then preceded to call me out of my name to someone in her shop. She said that she is a business women and that she needs to make money; therefore she called me HORRIBLE names. I do not conduct myself in that matter and if she was a true business owner she wouldn’t either. I am hurt and upset about this phone call, this has ruined my day. I advise people to go to Bombshell Waxing, where they treat their customers with respect and kindness. I did absolutely nothing but say I need to cancel and was treated like a prisoner in jail. PLEASE do not go to this place of business if you respect yourself.

HORRIBLE!!! I can’t find a decent place in New Orleans to get my eyebrows done. This place was the worst, I told the lady that I didn’t want them thin, she then proceeds to remove half of my eyebrows. I tell her that they are super thin and I didn’t like them like that, she then tells me that she barely took anything off. She shows me the wax paper and I see half of my eyebrows on there. So freaking pissed. Never again. Some BS.

THE BAD:
My experience was very similar to Jerrica’s. I called to make sure that they offered hard wax and was assured that it was the only wax they used. When I arrived she only had traditional wax but I figured since I was already there I might as well just use what was available. My second issue was that she proceeded to try and double-​dip. She tried to tell me that it was the «last of the wax and that no one would be using it after me». Aside from the fact that there was PLENTY of wax in the pot, that statement did nothing to account for the individuals who had used the wax BEFORE me. So naturally I was not allowing that. But here’s where it REALLY went wrong. The wax was too hot and literally ripped off my skin. I’ve been getting waxes for over 3 years in cities all over the country and have NEVER had that happen. EVER! So to sum it up I was forced to use wax I didn’t want, had to stop her from double-​dipping AND I walked away barely able to walk.
THE GOOD:
Edi was really nice and seemed like a really sweet person.
***The Unilocal reviews for wax salons in New Orleans are pretty disappointing in general, so after that experience, I now just make a monthly drive home to Atlanta where I know I will a) get what I asked for and b) not be subjected to bodily injury.

Had my first waxing here and was so so please with them! The owner was the one who took care of me and she was so sweet. I’ve always been nervous to get waxed, but she put me completely at ease and kept me nice and distracted with conversation when needed! Everything came out great and I was happy with the experience all around. I plan on getting a hair cut there soon and will post about that whenever it happens :) I hope it goes as well as the waxing!

Edi was amazingly sweet; I and a friend enjoyed a bit of our afternoon of indulgence here. Maybe it was just because it was a slow day (I doubt it) but Edi was extremely patient with all of my squirms and squeals.
I would definitely go again — who can beat a $ 35 wax?

After four different salons in two states this is the Very best waxing I have ever had done! Edie is awesome. She’s fast, efficient, highly skilled and hilarious. I prefer strip wax to hard wax as it’s so much quicker and in my experience is less painful and leads to less ingrown hairs.
Edie has a skill for shaping and she’ll get you in and out in less than 15 minutes. Her salon is clean and cute. Her prices are a ridiculous bargain for the service and quality. I live in Texas now but wait till I’m back in NOLA and can get to Vanity for a perfect bikini wax. Thank you!
