This place is a bit tricky to find, but with the use of google maps, it’ll guide you! This tree is not as majestic as I imagined it to be, but it still is beautiful. There were reviews that said it is a good place to see giraffes, but I do not think that is humanly possible. The tree is definite climbable, but not high enough to see the giraffes! Be careful climbing. It is a good place to have a picnic on good weather days because the branches provide shade.

One could attempt to gather a number of iconic spaces in the Crescent City, but they’d likely fail to achieve completion. The Tree of Life rests high up there. I brought my 3 yr old here for the first time recently, and she was floored. It’s an amazing thing. Plus if you’re lucky you might catch some giraffe glimpses over the fence at the zoo. Also awesome. Nothing compares to the Tree of Life. Nothing.

I love this lovely little spot at Audubon Park. As Jen said, the tree is beautiful and majestic and it’s the perfect spot to spend an afternoon. I had never even heard this tree called the Tree of Life, until last year when I was trying to meet up with a group of people, and I had no idea what tree they were talking about. A definite landmark in our wonderful city, it’s a must see if you find yourself in the area.

When you see this tree, you can’t help but be stunned. It is so beautiful and welcoming and stately. Growing up, we called this tree the grandfather oak but I have heard the Tree of Life for many years. I spent some of my last hours with my dog Bosco under this tree. We knew it was time since his kidneys were failing. One last romp under this tree with a tennis ball… The location is in the part of Audubon Park known as Laurel Street, near to where they installed a labyrinth.
