History

Established in 2015.

Opened in September 2015, Stacks on Magazine is providing great coffee products and fantastic craft cocktails. We make our drinks by hand, using the freshest ingredients. Housed in a warehouse space that dates back to the 1860’s and was once home to LE Jungs liquor distribution company prior to prohibition, we are proud to grow the facilities place in New Orleans cocktail history.

Manager

Regan Gardner is our Master Mixologist. A self described «cocktail nerd,» Regan has a passion for making his cocktails the right way. This includes using local and fresh ingredients, and showing respect for the traditional methods even in his new creations. Seen here with his newly created «Thomas Hudson» — the drink ties his love for Hemingway to mixology — a twist on Hudson’s signature drink in ‘Islands in the Stream.’

AVOID: Just got hosed on an iced coffee and an iced macchiato. Bartender didn’t even know what a macchiato was. Iced coffee was leftover coffee this morning on the rocks. Asked to top them off with a shot of Bailey’s each, and got maybe one shot total for apparently $ 9 a piece. «You’re in a bar in Nawlins, brother.» Yea, but even in NOLA, I wouldn’t expect to get hosed by an incompetent, rude bartender. I’d avoid this place if I were you. I’d five them no stars if it were possible. Thanks a lot for nothing, Stacks.

Good drink selection but the bartender executed poorly. The gin fizz was disgusting. We really liked the owner though!

I went for the official grand opening and got to try three signature drinks:
1. The Great Adventure — Papa’s Pilar dark rum, Barrow’s intense ginger, Fernet. They had just run out of Papa’s Pilar, so I got Appleton Estates instead. This drink can put hair on your chest. But I loved it.
2. Thomas Hudson — Bulldog gin, agave, cucumber, lime, mint, coconut water, soda, Angostura bitters. This was a very refreshing drink and was perfect for the warm evening.
3. Aphrodite’s Elixir — strawberry, orange, St. Germain, honey, orange bitters, Prosecco. This was just a very good, somewhat fruit drink. Would be a good replacement for a mimosa. Way better.
Overall, I liked the bar. Seemed neat. I did miss my favorite salesman — Mr. Serigne. He’s such a cool guy and I wish he would’ve been there to hang out with.

Bartender was great making suggestions, letting us taste some rums… my martini was as requested and his version of the caiparhini (with muddled brown sugar and limes) was delicious, I’d definitely come back!

Stopped by for a drink and was appalled at price for a SINGLE shot of absolut and cranberry was $ 9.50! You would do better to go down to bourbon street or anywhere in the quarter… at least you would have atmosphere and a decent pour, this bar just opened and I doubt will be successful with these prices in this area. I am staying at a resort next to them and will inform the concierge not to recommend this place. At least pour 1.75 oz for these prices.

Fantastic coffee in the morning and amazing drinks at night. Regan is an awesome mixologist. He has so many of his own drink recipes and he can make anything you ask for! Definitely a hot new spot to hit.
