I originally went with Security Iron because they were an old company and close to my neighborhood. Their salesman, Jim, wrote up a professional looking quote and was back and forth with me on correspondences. I felt like I could trust him because he was a good talker and fairly clean cut. That was my first mistake. He was nothing but your usual con artist salesman. Once he got me to sign the contract and pay the deposit, that’s the last time I could get in touch with him. He was gone.
First he said the service team would start in two weeks but it ended up being four weeks. They decided to come surprise me with the installation of the fence the day I was leaving on my 2 week honeymoon. They said that they would talk to the guy that poured my driveway slab so that the gate would swing open all the way, instead it I returned home to discover that the gate only opened halfway because it was installed too low to clear the grade of the concrete. What’s the point of having a gate on my driveway if I can’t even fit my car through it because the gate won’t open more halfway? Very very unprofessional work.
I called them several times to come resolve this issue. I did not think it was fair that I had to pay over $ 4500 for an iron fence that wasn’t installed properly. The guy answering the phone named wayne just told me what I wanted to hear and was often rude. «Yes we will have someone call you back and a service team go repair it.» No one ever called me back after calling 7 times, NOT ONCE. Then they told me a month ago that someone was coming to look at the gate. That never happened either. Then they said they would put in a service order, I wait another month and that never happens either. Honestly, I never leave bad reviews but this was nothing short of robbery and I don’t know how they stay in business other than the fact that it’s an old company. Do yourself a favor and bring your business elsewhere. These people just want your money and do not know how to properly install a fence. Now, I have to pay a separate contractor to come fix my gate so it will open all the way, which will run me another $ 1000. By far the worst service I’ve ever gotten at any company in my life.

Terrible experience. Overpriced, late and poor quality.
We called Security Iron about installing a storm door at the back of our house. A salesman made two appointments, cancelled both and showed up at a random time later that week. He took some measurements and we went over the details. The man was friendly but largely left out the details of the door we were considering. The salesman departed and called back with an estimate. The estimate was well above what their competitors had offered but after reading positive reviews I felt Security Iron was the best choice.
I’d given the salesman a keycode for our garden gate and was surprised to see him show up unannounced and enter the backyard — I didn’t cause a fuss at the time but this incident perturbed me. It would be one thing to show up unannounced and knock on the front door but this guy just welcomed himself onto my property without any notice whatsoever. The guy took photos and more measurements, then left. I could hardly believe it but the salesman actually came back a third time for measurements (all this for one door) but this time knocked on the front door. I should’ve seen these red flags and declined to order but I was anxious to dispose of the rickety old door we had.
We ordered the storm door, paid the hefty deposit and had a heck of a time getting an estimated delivery date out of the salesman. «I don’t know, maybe seven weeks». Seven weeks pass, eight weeks, nine weeks — I call but receive nothing but «it’ll be ready when it’s ready» and «almost ready, we’ll call you.» Further signs of disorganization from Security Iron.
Finally the storm door arrive and was installed, we were pleased with the install and at first we were very happy with the door. After a week the charging arm began to slam the door shut far too hard, I made adjustments and the door would either slam violently or close at a turtle’s pace not fail to reach the strike plate. Meanwhile the knob lock began to feel flimsy and the key became difficult to use. Two weeks after the door arrived the hinges began to leak rust… clearly we’d been hoodwinked into paying top-​dollar for a shoddy door.
I called Security Iron and complained, to their credit they sent someone over promptly. I wasn’t home when the worker arrived but what I saw when I arrived home was white spray paint (door is white) sprayed sloppily onto the hinges and the rust leakage. Knob lock was somehow worse, I could hardly get the key in when I arrived home. I don’t understand how this company stays in business with such awful quality and service.

The guys at Security are great. They came out and gave me an estimate quickly. I stopped in since they were on my daily running of errands and dropped off a deposit and they got to work on my order. It wasn’t a lot to fabricate but it was peace of mind for me. They came out the next week and fixed my ‘gravity latch’ and fence. Painted it and all. Great group of guys and great personalities.

First two times I used them it was a fabulous experience… sadly they have just become supremely lacking in the customer service department. No return phone calls. Not showing up on time or at all. Unless you get Jim on the phone don’t bother… you will be waiting all week with whatever issue you might have. Bummer.

Another GREAT local business that serves its city well.
I first used Security Iron Co. over 10 years ago when I had them install some iron storm doors on my old drafty house. A very nice guy named Jim came out and did some measuring, gave me some design options and came up with what I felt was a very reasonable quote for iron doors, on the spot. They came out as scheduled to install the doors. No fuss, no muss.
Over the years the look of the iron doors has held up very well. I have had some of their crew come back at my request to adjust some things as settling on my house has occurred. It is both a great product and they provide great service.
I have recommend them to friends many times and have been thanked in return. Then, a few months ago I got a letter from my insurance company asking me to install handrails around my front porch and stairs and without hesitation I called Security Iron Co. to get a quote. Guess who came to my house the very next day? My old pal Jim from 11 years ago. Again he did measurements, we discussed design options and he produced a reasonable quote. They are going to come out and install the rails to appease the insurance company, and I am happy with the look it is going to give my old shack and that it will add to the safety of my home,
